One Cool Café; the epitome of pleasantness BY PHONE DEPAR MIN Small, lovely and assiduously cozy, the One Cool Café is the ultimate representation of a family friendly place, as described by Ko Hein Zar, the manager. The café has a light airy feeling, with a soft brown/white color on the furniture and a cool grey tone on the floors and wall that matches with its pleasantness. There are sofas attached to the side walls and the café as a whole could comfortably fit around 15 people, 20 if pushed. The most delicious was the Nutella Rolls, the chocolate giving a sharp sweetness that was tempered only by the soft bread and the lusciousness of the cream. To go with it is the Bluebery Smoothie; the utter freshness of the drink just cleared the mind of all worries. One Cool Café’s Blueberry Smoothie is definitely one to try while in the area. Two noodle dishes, the Green Curry Pasta and the Spagnetti Bolognese were very enjoyable, the former being much like a spaghetti but with a green overtone and prawn, accompanied by the ever-present lettuce. The latter was a delightful confection of shredded cheese, hot sauce, chicken, lettuce, and the most colorful noodles ever seen, all combining together to form the Spagnetti Bolognese. One more dessert and two more drinks were dropped in quick succession, a slice of Coconut Roll and a cup of Rainbow Latte followed by a glass of Thai Tea Frappe. The Coconut just melts in the mouth and the rainbow latte is very pretty looking, with the Tea Frappe being especially gorgeous, both in looks and flavor. Wifi is available and acceptably speedy; the area is quiet as well, with only the occasional sound of the particular noise making car and/or person passing by. The prices were surprisingly all within the range of 2,000Kyats for an Espresso to the most pricey at 6,000Kyats for the Breakfast set. Esperado Rooftop: Hidden Gem near Kandawgyi BY MATT Esperado Rooftop Bar & Restaurant is located right in front of the entrance of Kandawgyi Mhyaw Sin Island, at the rooftop of Esperado Lake View Hotel. All cocktails have distinguished taste. We tried Rose Mojito, consisted of rum, red berries, puree, cranberry juice, mint leaves, lime wedges and Esperado Mint Tea, made of vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec and mint syrup. The last one was the old-but-gold, which is Goya mix with tequila, vodka, peach liqueur, midori and bols blue. The Rose Mojito mixes both sweet and sour tastes. It is a mixture of different natural flavors combined with rum and cranberry juice and itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s all about red. The combination is more than a refreshing flavor of mint leaves and lime wedges to mingle and twist your tongue. Strawberry and red berries mixed together enhance the total taste of the drink. They also have buffet with reasonable prices, 3 times per a week; vegetarian buffet on Wednesdays, barbeque buffet on Fridays and Thai special buffet on Saturday. All buffets are 20,000 Kyats per person with 2 glasses of beer or free flow of soft drinks. Vegetarian buffet comes at an affordable price of 9,000 Ks. Plus, they have a la carte menu all day long. Thai special buffet that I have tried did not disappoint me. My favorite is hot & sour fish with dori. Other highlights include Thai style Spicy Fried Glass Noodle, Green Curry Prawn, Chicken Lemongrass Flavor, Fried Potato with Sweet Basil, Fish Cake Salad, Papaya Salad, and Thai traditional Tom Yum soup. You can make your own soup with selected items for noodle and vermicelli.
