MYANMORE RECOMMENDS
HERCULES We are introduced to a new Hercules – a mortal soldier for hire, banded with a ragtag group of skilled mercenaries, including Autolycus (Rufus Sewell), a knife-throwing thief; Atalanta (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal), an Amazon archer, Tydeus (Askel Hennie), a feral battle-loving warrior, Iolaus (Reece Ritchie), a teller of Hercules’ tales, and Amphiaraus (Ian McShane), a prophet who foretells outcome of battles, but is bad at guessing the time of his own impending death. Johnson is visually compelling, wearing a lion’s skinned head as an ornament (in most cases, it’s an alternative for his dangly, wrangled hair). Yes, it does look weird, but the awkwardness – ported over from the comic book – works.

SHABUSHI BUFFET BY LEENA SALIM
WHAT IT IS Shabushi was first started by the Oishi Group in 2001 in Thailand. There are now 95 outlets all across the land of Smiles, and growing. Their first outlet in Myanmar , a joint venture with CM Foods, a subsidiary of City Mart Holdings, opened in Ocean Shwe Gone Daing (also known as Ocean Tamwe), in July , is also their first outlet outside of Thailand. Shabushi serves both Japanese hotpot and sushi amongst other Japanese cuisine. This all-you-can-eat self-service meal is limited to 75 minutes per seating with an option to extend. ATMOSPHERE I admit, I was surprised. It was a Monday night – usually a night so dead some establishments rather close shop. For others, it’s a slow snailpaced night. I had expected Shabushi to be in the same boat, seeing that they’re new. Instead, they were busy. In fact, they were so busy I noticed that their tempura trays were emptied out as soon a fresh batch was topped up. Most of the diners were locals who came as couples or in groups. The staff, although not as autonomous as the ones in Thailand (yet), were efficient enough. The décor and lay-out is pretty much similar to those in Thailand with red and black tones, with booths and stool seatings. There is a section of exposed kitchen for the curious or bored. RECOMMENDATION If you love buffets, hotpots, Japanese food and variations of meats and vegetables, and you want all of these at one go without having to order through a menu, at any time of the day, then Shabushi is the answer. Your hotpot soup comes in either spicy tom-yum or plain chicken broth (it tastes closer to plain than to the chicken side) Food options come chugging on a conveyor belt. The rest of the buffet are well-placed against the wall. The staff come often to clear the empty plates. Fast, filling and somewhat fun – all done in over an hour. NOTE The food on the belt are raw. Do ensure that your food is thoroughly cooked before consuming. Also, if you’re looking for some privacy, full service and unlimited time to you meal, Shabushi is definitely not for you. PRICE Buffet costs 15,000Ks per person all inclusive http://myanmore.com/yangon/dining-listings/listing/shabushi-shwegone-daing
