Check out our step-by-step guide to create your own terrarium.

What are the requirements to your very own terrarium? · Large glass jar · Pebbles for drainage · Activated charcoal · Soil · Succulent plants · Decorative chippings · Wooden Skewer · Plastic Gloves · Water Simple Steps Simple8 8 Steps

1. Organize the Area Put on gloves and set all the things you need. To make sure the plant doesn’t get affected by any toxins, clean the glass jar properly. Put down a protective sheet.

2. Get the Soil Ready If instead of soil using coconut coir, soak it for some time to re-hydrate before using. If soil is your option clean it!

3. Prepare a Drainage Layer In the bottom of the glass jar, add a layer of pebbles. You can increase the height of pebble layer depending on glass jar size. Pebbles prevent soil and roots from becoming too wet. 4. Add Activated Charcoal

After pebbles, thin layer of activated charcoal is added; add enough to cover the drainage layer. The charcoal helps in purification to keep terrarium healthy, absorbs odour, and reduces bacterial growth.

5. Soil Addition Time

Add a thick layer of soil. Add enough soil to cover the roots of plant and deep enough to allow plant growth.

6. Plant the Plant After adding a soil layer, make a hole in soil with finger to plant the plant. Take the plant out from the pot and cut off the excess roots...no worries roots will grow back! Plant it and gently pat the soil to secure it into its place. Do the same to add more plants, but don’t overcrowd. 7. Decoration Time Sprinkle stone or glass chippings all around. Add enough chips to cover the soil and create a clean layer. If chips stuck in the plants use wooden skewer to gently poke them out.

Lastly, you can add moss balls or color stones for decoration. Clean the glass before you display it! 8. Maintenance It’s easy to maintain, place terrariums in bright rooms and water once a week. Keep a balance of direct light and heat. A plant lover would love gowning terrariums in their home and workplace for a GREEN look!
