2018

2017 Trails and Open Space ACCOMPLISHMENTS In 2017, the Trails and Open Space Division had a fantastic year completing numerous projects. We started in January by implementing our new winter hiking and snowshoeing program. In February, new platforms were installed at the fishing pond in Mehraban Wetlands Park. Mild March weather allowed for the extension of the Hoof N’ Boot trail in the lower part of Corner Canyon. In April, the tunnel under Highland Drive was completed connecting Andy Ballard Arena to the trails in Corner Canyon. The Rush Trail had major damage repaired and the jumps on the Maple Hollow Downhill Trail were rebuilt. In May, the Telegraph and Coyote Foot Paths were completed. In June, the Three Falls Trail was completed to Alpine City. The Peak View Trail was completed. Gravity Logic, one of the best trail building companies in the world finished the new Levitate Downhill Mountain Bike Trail. This summer, our new Park Ranger started patrolling Draper City Open Space. In July, mounting blocks for equestrians were installed at the Highland Drive tunnel. August saw the completion of the Pork U Pine trail connecting Corner Canyon to Hog Hollow. Crews were busy in September, completing the Casper Footpath, extending Hoof N’ Boot, rebuilding the Eagle Crest Trail, and finishing the Woods Hollow Trail. A very wet and muddy section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail was repaired in October. In November, a sewer line installation was finished which allowed a trail on top of it, connecting Hog Hollow with Mercer Hollow. The Trails and Open Space staff would like to thank the Corner Canyon Trails Foundation and countless volunteers for the ongoing success of our trail system.
