From beautiful gowns to beautiful florals and a touch of menswear, we’ve got a little something for every bride and groom out there. This month’s cover feature is a stunning country wedding dress showcase shot by the wonderful Madison Yen (page 52). Special thanks to the gang at Mallard’s Croft for providing a venue and being such generous hosts for the Click team. While weddings are traditionally all about the bride, we haven’t forgotten about the guys this year. FLORALS: I’m not seeing as much formal florals as I did in the past, but more of what you’d call “roadage,” or bouquets of freeform, roadside flowers. They’re not quite as staunchy and perfect as what you’ve seen traditionally. It’s more of a “pick the flowers off the road” look and is very easy to do with Eucalyptus and sunflowers. COLORS & PATTERNS: Florals are big, as well as lots of “tone-on-tone” such as an off-white with white behind it. As I said before, monochromatic is coming in. You’re seeing less bright reds and hot pinks and more subdued colors like peach.

One of the 15 recipients is Como, Mississippi, artist Sharon McConnell-Dickerson. Sharon has worked with many musicians to create their life-cast images, which she makes in a similar process as when a dentist takes molds of teeth. United States, across the Atlantic, in France, fellow 2016 recipient and writer/ photographer Fred Delforge is working to spread the Blues in Europe and bring in new faces. “The best future for me is to continue to share a passion and to help fans discover new bands, new musicians with Zicazic,” says Delforge. With the help of a friend, Delforge launched zicazic.com in 2011. The name serves as a nickname of sorts, referring to “musicians to musicians.” The site was started as an idea his friend had while playing a Punk show at the Bataclan in Paris and became a resource to give answers to every question a musician might ask. Today, the site operates as a magazine and includes reviews and live reports from festivals such as the International Blues Challenge held annually in Memphis. When in Memphis for IBC, Delforge says he only sleeps one or two hours a night to publish for the French and American people. Besides Zicazic, Delforge also is a member of the European Blues Union Board of Directors. Also in 2011, Delforge co-founded France Blues, which works to get more people involved with blues and helps bring artists to festivals such as EBC and IBC. According to Delforge, European Blues is becoming more ambitious incorporating genres like Hip Hop to create a new kind of Blues. “Blues is the roots,” he says. “Without Blues there is no Rock ‘N’ Roll, no Rap, no Soul. Everybody is listening to the Blues everyday, but a lot of people don’t know this is the blues. We have to explain Blues is a language supposed to be international. Blues have no borders, no countries, no religions.”

Burlap Cone Floral Hanger Crafting time: 1-2 hours Skill level: No experience necessary Supplies and Tools: • Cutting utensils • Thin wire • Wire or boutonniere pins • Panacea burlap garland • 2 Styrofoam brand foam cones • Glue gun • Glue sticks • Ribbon of choice • Hydrangeas: 1 green and peach, 2 peach and cream • Green mini bundle 1. Cut wire into hairpin shaped pieces or use boutonniere pins. 2. Cut 1 yard of burlap per cone. Fold burlap in half and wrap cone from bottom to top. Pin burlap to cone. Not all of it will be covered. Run glue along seam; press to secure. 3. Attach ribbon to create hanger. Glue in place. 4. Trim hydrangea short. Glue to top of cone. Trim several clusters from hydrangea. Glue to cover exposed foam, creating a dripping ice cream affect. 5. Trim half of mini bundle and glue in center. 6. Trim blossoms of green hydrangea. Glue to both cones. The menu was carefully chosen by the Mother of the Bride to give their guests a true taste of the family’s French favorites. Beginning with an Amuse Bouche of Croquet Monsieur followed by a spinach fruit salad and beef tenderloin, roasted vegetables, parsnip gratin with parmesan crust and rolls served with strawberry and herbed butter. The stunning wedding cake displayed in the center of the tent was custom designed by Cory Lewis to replicate some of the bride’s gown. Alternating layers of Chocolate cake with Chocolate ganache and milk chocolate buttercream with sea salt chocolate crunchies on top and vanilla cake infused with organic rose syrup and preserves with vanilla buttercream were a sweet ending to dinner. As the sun went down and dinner concluded, guests made their way into the Mill for dancing and celebrating. Handcrafted white paper flowers framed the stage where Papa Sol entertained and kept guests dancing all evening. Linen lounge furniture and a photo booth were included in the environment, as well as a cigar bar upstairs on the balcony. Late-night food was passed to keep guests energized until the very end. Chicken on a stick and fresh beignets went like hot cakes along with a chocolate fondue station. As the clock struck midnight, it was time to depart. The paparazzi lined exit was lit up by sparklers while guests showered the couple with dried lavender, as the fairytale wedding came to an end. The French-inspired experience was sure to leave guests longing for a day in Paris, just as the hosts intended. A la votre!

The groom is the son of Johnny and Lisa Boyd, who reside in Hernando, Mississippi. Before they were newlyweds, Jenna and Adam worked together at the restaurant Smokey Bones. Try as she might, Jenna says she just couldn’t ignore Adam, the flirtatious bartender behind the counter. Fast forward to 2013, and the adoring duo was ready to take their relationship to the next level. They were on vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, when Adam decided it was time to pop the big question. The couple was taking a romantic walk on the beach, picking up shells here and there to take home as souvenirs. After seeing only half shells and other broken bits, Adam excitedly told Jenna that he discovered a whole shell. When she turned around to see the one-of-a-kind shell, she found Adam on both knees holding out a shell that he custom made with an engagement ring inside. The ceremony was held on January 31, 2015, at the Pink Palace.

The bride wore a Mori Lee gown with long sleeves and flowing lace train. Styled after Kate Middleton’s wedding gown, the ensemble also featured a Queen Anne neckline and a ball gown cut. She was escorted down the aisle by her father, while Ben, a friend of the groom, played the piano. Mike Nolen officiated the ceremony. Both the bride and the groom wrote their own vows, and there was a special blessing of the family. A reception followed in the Pink Palace’s ballroom. The celebration featured a 007 theme, as the bride and groom took James Bondinspired engagement photos. Not only were these photos blown up and placed around the ballroom, there were also life-size cut outs of James Bond scattered about for guests to take photos with. egan Faulkner and JT Lomenick were united in marriage on August 15, 2015. The bride is the daughter of Chuck and Mindy Faulkner of Hernando, Mississippi, and Levy and Julie Harris of Hernando, Mississippi. The groom is the son of Bob and Penny Lomenick of Holly Springs, Mississippi, and Charlie and Ellen Williams of Oxford, Mississippi. Before Megan and JT ever dreamed of holding hands or exchanging vows, they were sharing crayons and trading juice boxes. The childhood friends were in the same second grade class at Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia, Mississippi. When you’re that young, it can be hard to tell if the butterflies in your stomach are because of the cafeteria food or the cute girl sitting across the room. Years passed before the two realized what they had known all along: They were soul mates. The high school sweethearts went on to attend university. Megan pursued a nursing degree at Baptist College of Health Sciences, while JT studied at the University of Mississippi. After they completed their bachelor’s degrees, the couple decided to relocate to Denver, Colorado. JT attended law school at the University of Denver.

When Megan and JT closed on their first home, JT decided it was time to make his big move. JT invited their closest friends over and had the group hide at the next-door neighbor’s house. He even made sure a camera was in place to film the surprise. When Megan walked up to the door of their new home, he proposed. The wedding took place on August 15, 2015, at the Meadow at T-Lazy-7 Ranch in Aspen. For something old, the bride incorporated her mother’s wedding veil into her bouquet. For something new, the bride wore an ivory gown by Nicole Miller. The form-fitting gown featured a low back and lace detailing. She also wore a custom rhinestone and pearl headpiece designed by Amanda Judge. She borrowed her mother’s diamond tennis bracelet, and blue Toms shoes provided a touch of much-needed comfort as she walked down the aisle. Reverend Alan Cochet officiated the ceremony. The reception was held at the Lodge at T-Lazy-7 Ranch. Bluegrass band Woodshed Red kicked the evening off with live music and kept guests on their toes late into the night. Conundrum Catering served up a selection of Colorado favorites and adding a bit of Southern charm with a few classic home-style dishes. A s’mores bar out by the campfire added to the chic, rustic feel. The couple opted for a cheesecake instead of a traditional towering affair. The groom firmly believed that milk and fresh chocolate chip cookies were the best option, so he made sure some of those were available, too. Following a honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Denver, Colorado.

ue Chitwood and Michael Beyer were united in marriage on October 3, 2015. The bride is the daughter of Clark and Cynthia Chitwood, who reside in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The groom is the son of John and Joanne Beyer, who reside in Shakopee, Minnesota. Rue and Michael first crossed paths in rural Nevada during the summer of 2011. Michael was working full time as a geologist with Newmont Mining Company. He was stationed at the Midas underground mine in Winnemucca when he met Rue. She was finishing up her master’s thesis and was in town for a summer internship. Though the two became good friends, the timing wasn’t right. In the fall, Rue went back to the University of Alabama to finish her coursework. In May 2012, Rue returned to Winnemucca for a full-time position as a geologist at Newmont Mining Company. Now that distance was no longer a factor, the pair began dating soon after her arrival. It wasn’t until January 2015 that Michael popped the question. New to the mountaineering scene, Rue was training for a seminar in Alaska. She wanted to get in some practice on her snowshoes, so Michael suggested a trip to Nevada’s Ruby Mountain range. During a trek through Lamoille Canyon, the couple stopped to take in the breathtaking view before them. Before Rue knew what was happening, Michael was down on one knee. True to the couple’s adventurous nature, the ceremony was held in Teton Trek at the Memphis Zoo. The bride and groom exchanged vows on the bridge overlooking the grizzly bear enclosure. Perhaps unsurprisingly, one of the bears took a keen interest in the ceremony

and sat for the whole thing. And when the guests rose in support of the marriage, so did the bear! Reverend Anne H. K. Apple of Idlewild Presbyterian Church officiated the ceremony, which took place on October 3, 2015. The bride wore a Nicole Miller gown purchased from Swoon Bridal Salon, a charming boutique in Reno, Nevada. The flowing silk gown featured a scalloped lace trim and a plunging V-neckline. Rue knew this dress was the one when she learned that it was called the “Nina” — the same name as her maternal grandmother. She felt like this was a great way to honor her memory. She also wore her maternal grandmother’s pearl necklace for something old. Rue’s custom-made rhinestone and satin hairpiece served as something new, and she borrowed her paternal grandmother’s pearl bracelet. A blue lace garter completed the tradition. The reception was held inside the Teton Trek lodge. Mexican Heather, flowering crocus plants and ferns surrounded the lodge’s stunning fireplace. Aubergine linens and tartan table runners played up the lodge’s rustic feel. The couple brought their own individual flair to the centerpieces: pieces of family pottery filled with lavender and rock samples. Each sample was accompanied by a story card detailing what it was, where it came from, and the story behind it. After the wedding festivities, the couple took a mini-moon road trip back to their home in Elko, Nevada. The newlyweds plan to take a twoweek getaway to New Zealand this October to celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary.

iz Clark and Michael Schwartz were united in marriage on October 10, 2015. The bride is the daughter of Richard and Michele Clark of Germantown, Tennessee. The groom is the son of Steve and Sherri Schwartz of Germantown, Tennessee. Although Liz and Michael have lived in Memphis their whole lives, they’ve never visited any of the typical tourist locales. The two decided to take the day before Thanksgiving 2014 to go on an adventure around the city and finally see what the fuss was all about. The day date kicked off with tours at Sun Studio and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. After grabbing lunch at Memphis’ oldest tavern, The Green Beatle, the couple moseyed around Beale Street. A quick visit to variety store A. Schwab’s gave way to an evening walk alongside the waterfront at Beale Street Landing. As the sun began to set, Michael proposed. Liz and Michael headed to one of their favorite spots, The Madison Hotel, for a glass of celebratory champagne. Afterward, Liz thought the two would head home to tell their families the news, but Michael had a plan. Their close friends and family were waiting at Wiseacre Brewery for a surprise engagement party. The ceremony was held on October 10, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Mike Werkhoven officiated the event. The bride wore a cathedral-length veil and an A-line Watters Too gown

with a full tulle cut. The dress also featured a sweetheart neckline and a rhinestone and pearl sash. For something old, the bride borrowed a handkerchief that belonged to her great grandmother. Every woman in her family have carried it down the aisle, each time adding their initials and wedding date to the embroidery. Her dress served as something new. For something borrowed, her sisters in Pi Phi pinned her with sorority’s signature arrow pins. To finish things off — and subtly cheer on the Memphis Tigers ahead of the Ole Miss game — the bride painted her toenails blue. Following a honeymoon trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple is at home in Memphis, Tennessee. After receiving a degree from the University of Alabama, the bride will graduate as a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in May. The groom received his degree from the University of Memphis and will also graduate as a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in May.

The groom is the son of Mike and Alise Farrell, who reside in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The Prince Charming to Meagan’s Cinderella, Sean first caught Meagan’s eye in a moment of middle school duress. After being told that her shirt straps were too narrow, Meagan was faced with two choices: call her mom and tell her about the dress code violation or find a jacket to wear for the rest of the day. Sean, a gentleman even in the sixth grade, offered Meagan his baseball jacket. Fast forward to 7/29/15. Meagan woke up to a text message from her mom about attending a friend’s birthday dinner later that night. Under the impression that it was just a typical Wednesday evening, Meagan made plans to go work out before attending church that evening. She mentioned this to her mom and was completely taken aback when her mom tried to talk her out of it. Clearly, she knew something that Meagan didn’t. After her workout, Meagan went to community group at her church. Instead of the usual hour-long service, there was an ice cream social. Meagan left early, completely throwing off the plan for the evening. She met up with her mom and her sister under the pretense of exploring the University of Mississippi’s campus before dinner. They were walking along, and just as Meagan mentioned

Joseph Garrison played the organ, and Dave Leblanc officiated. The bride wore an Allure trumpet gown with a sweetheart neckline and a low back. For something old, she wore her paternal great grandmother’s ring. Her dress served as something new. She borrowed her sorority sisters’ badges, and her great-great-grandmother’s heirloom broach counted as something blue. A reception followed, complete with live music and a decadent dinner menu: boiled shrimp, candied bacon, duck poppers and a homemade candy bar. The grooms cake blended the couple’s love of Ole Miss football and that the groom is attending medical school. The bride and groom had their first dance to George Strait’s “Check Yes or No,” the father-daughter dance was to Bob Carlisle’s “Butterfly Kisses,” and the groom danced to Rascal Flatts’ “My Wish” with his mother. After a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple is at home in Oxford, Mississippi. Both alumni of Ole Miss, the bride works for Kessinger Real Estate, and the groom is continuing his studies at the university’s medical school.

ennifer Leonard and Kellen Corbin were united in marriage on March 2, 2015. The bride is the daughter of Catherine & Mark Hall of Alabaster, Alabama, and John & Lynn Leonard of Helena, Alabama. The groom is the son of Steve and Kim Corbin of Lambert, Mississippi. True love knows no bounds, be it time or distance. When Jennifer and Kellen met on eHarmony, they knew their relationship wouldn’t be typical. They lived four and a half hours away from each other, so it took some time before they were able to have their first date. When they finally went out, they bowled a few games and grabbed dinner afterward. Things went so well that they went out the next night, too! On February 28, 2015, Kellen asked for Jennifer’s hand in marriage. They were taking a walk on his grandfather’s land when Kellen pulled her off to a special spot. As a symbol of their lasting love, Kellen made a time capsule for them to open on their 10-year anniversary. He even planted a tree to mark the location. The happy couple eloped in favor of an intimate ceremony in

Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Park on March 2, 2015. It snowed the night before, creating a beautiful winter backdrop for the ceremony. With the Rocky Mountains in the background, the view was nothing short of breathtaking. Kevin Cooper officiated the ceremony. A snow day just isn’t a snow day without a snowball fight, and a winter wedding is no exception. After the ceremony, the newlyweds played in the snow and sent a video message announcing their marriage to their families. The bride wore a Galina gown with a strapless bodice and empire waist. The ruched tulle wedding dress also featured a sweeping train. For something old, she attached her grandmother’s brooch to her bouquet. For something new, she wore a string of pearls gifted by her mother. The newlyweds held a cake reception in Lambert, Mississippi, for their family and friends on May 2, 2015. The casual affair had several flavors to choose from, including strawberry, Italian crème, chocolate crème and carrot cake. Following a honeymoon in Breckenridge, Colorado, the couple is at home in Lambert, Mississippi. An Auburn University alumna, Jennifer is the Art Director at Click Magazine. Kellen is an alumnus of Mississippi State University and a self-employed farmer.

We like to tell brides to consider taking all of your guests out to dinner at a nice restaurant. That cost in addition to a private location, ceremony cost, and entertainment and decor all factored in can add up quickly and make sense of why the budget seems higher than you would expect. The dress and other necessary details are not even factored in yet so you can see how it adds up quickly.

SET THE DATE Knowing the season or month you want to marry in will help you in choosing that perfect date, but flexibility can be an asset when searching for venues and ceremony locations. Many couples plan 10-12months out so popular venues may not have the first date you want open. Keep in mind — Friday and Sunday’s are usually a more economical option if you are on a tighter budget. Once you set the date you should book the church/ ceremony location and reception venue. However, if you are considering hiring a full service planner, don’t sign any contracts or hire any other vendors until you have hired the planner.
