CASEY HILDER
editor’s letter
Read All About It I love the feel of a good book in my hands. There's nothing quite like it: the weight, the smell, even the light breeze I catch from flipping through the pages has a way of lifting me up and taking me somewhere else. Some of my earliest memories are about books. An affinity toward Calvin and Hobbes led me to an interest in newspapers at a young age, which in turn led to the wonderful magazine you hold in your hands (or view onscreen) today. The way we read is changing, there’s no doubt about that. But whether you’re viewing it on your holo-screen in 2048 or rifling through the pages of your grandfather’s aged copy, William Faulkner's Light in August still begins and ends the same way. This issue is a tribute to all the things literacy. What better way to spend the summer than with a good stack of books? If this sounds like fun to you, look no further than Tess Catlett’s “10 must-reads of 2017” feature on page 43, which should have something for all tastes. Books can provide a window to other worlds or grant insight on the unseen plights of those right around the corner, and that's real power. It may be a decidedly old-school way of digesting information, but for me, no other medium comes close. This month’s summer fashion spread and cover were inspired by the covers of classic Southern romance novels, with an airy, light feel that could only be captured by photographer Madison Yen. See her contributions on page 52. In addition, we’ve got a compelling Q&A with newlyminted Literacy Mid-South Executive Director, Knox Shelton. Literacy Mid-South goes to great lengths to teach much-needed reading skills to the local population and they’re definitely in my top 5 personal favorite nonprofits in the area. See our interview on page 11. From all of us to all of you: thanks for making us part of your summer reading list. We hope you enjoy looking this one over as much as we enjoyed putting it together. Read on,
Casey Hilder

LITERACY IS A FUNDAMENTAL BUILDING BLOCK of modern society that many of us may take for granted. Through the actions of the nonprofit organization Literacy Mid-South, more local resources are available than ever before for developing readers. Knox Shelton, who has been with Literacy Mid-South in a variety of roles over the past two years, took the reins as executive director this past January. Click Magazine: What does Literacy Mid-South do? Knox Shelton: We provide literacy resources for learners of all ages and backgrounds. CM: What are your duties as executive director? KS: I oversee the fundraising, communication and marketing of all the different programs that we’re affiliated with here. CM: How does Literacy Mid-South outreach work? KS: For our adult learners, a lot of them come to us through word of mouth. Stacy Early and Troy Wiggins, who oversee our adult learning program, set up shop at the Benjamin Hooks Library every Monday to do intake, which means they meet with adult learners who set up appointments or just show up looking for advice. They go through an 12 JUNE 2017 | myclickmag.com
assessment with them and then talk them through the process before matching them with a volunteer. We do a lot of outreach through the library program, but we also have a lot of partnerships, like our ReadMemphis program, that work with adults through other kinds of social services and take in a lot of referrals. CM: How much ground does LMS cover? KS: Most of our work consists of areas within the United Way of the Mid-South’s layout, so a lot of that is in northern Mississippi and a little bit of West Arkansas, in addition to Memphis. CM: Has technology affected how Literacy Mid-South operates? KS: It certainly makes it easier to share resources and provide volunteers with what they need. For example, we’ve got a Literacy Mid-South App now. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a resource center. We’ve also been working with the University of Memphis on an autotutor program, which can allow some of our adult learners to engage in guided activity without their onsite tutors. CM: How do you train people to approach this issue in a respectable way? KS: A lot of it is to not teach them as if you were teaching a child like many people normally would. We provide skills and try to work toward an individual goal, such as completing a GED or earning a driver’s license — even some of the smaller goals, like filling out a job application or understanding doctor’s notes.
CM: What makes a good LMS volunteer? KS: Consistency is the most important thing. The biggest issue that our adult learners face is finding time and transportation. Being able to be there as a tutor is an important part for sure. CM: Where do adult learners start? KS: It all begins with an assessment to get a sense of their reading level. It’s a one-on-one meeting with a written component that takes about 30 minutes to an hour. CM: Let’s talk about your summer reading program. KS: Last summer, our numbers grew exponentially: from serving 1,000 students in 2015 to 3,000 in 2016. This was due mostly to a growth in partnerships. We were able to provide 17 different partners with books, training, and curriculum, as well as certain data tools to evaluate these literacy programs once the summer is over. We have a datasharing agreement with Shelby County Schools where we look at students’ MAP scores and compare them. We were thrilled to see that they saw a growth or mitigated the summer learning loss. CM: What is summer learning loss? KS: Summer learning loss is exactly that: not retaining some of what students learn from the school year over summer break. For low-income students, summer learning loss affects those who might not have access to much intellectual enrichment away from school. It definitely widens a gap for some out there. Many of our partners feel like this is an area where some students need the most support. CM: How many people does Literacy MidSouth help? KS: We are currently serving 250-300 adults through our adult learning program in addition to about 20 certified ReadMemphis programs that broaden our reach. Through our summer and after-school programs, we’re working with 3,000 to 3,000 local students. CM: Any big fundraisers coming up? KS: With the closing (and now reopening) of Booksellers, I don’t know if we’ll be able to host our annual Literatini this summer, but we are looking to host a 0K at WiseAcre. It’s basically a 5K that skips all the running and goes straight to the party. That’ll be in October.
CM: What’s the biggest challenge your organization faces? KS: One of the biggest challenges that we face is really just trying to explain what it means for an adult to not be able to read at a 6thgrade reading level and shedding light on the opportunities literacy offers. CM: What’s your favorite book? KS: I was a classical student, so I’d have to go with The Oddysey. CM: What if someone is interested in volunteering or learning more about Literacy MidSouth? KS: We’re always looking for volunteers for our adult learning program. We have training opportunities to make sure they’re well equipped with the skills necessary. We also have a wealth of recourses on our website. We’re getting ready to launch a sort of “volunteer hub,” spotlighting the organizations that will be working with our summer program, including Memphis Athletic Ministries, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis, The Emmanuel Center and about 15 other programs.
LITERACY IN THE MID-SOUTH BY THE NUMBERS
• 1 in 7 adults nationwide
read at a 6th-grade level or below
• 66% of third-grade students in Memphis are not reading at grade level.
• The most recent survey
showed at least 15 percent of adults in Mississippi were found to be illiterate, with rates as high as 30 percent in some of the poorer rural counties. Sources: National Center for Education Statistics, National Assessment of Adult Literacy

A Solid Statement Discovering the crafty creations of local jeweler Brooke Ballard Story by OLIVIA COLVERT | Photos by CASEY HILDER
HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO CREATE AN OUTFIT BASED OFF A single piece? Local jeweler Brooke Ballard is already a few steps ahead, and has decided to do just this through her own line of handcrafted necklaces, Janey Bee Jems. “You buy a necklace, and you want to build an outfit based off that piece,” Ballard says. “You find a piece you love so much, and you want to build around it. Your outfit becomes the accessory, and your necklace becomes the statement.” What began as a hobby for this University of Memphis student eventually became a bonafide side hustle with a presence in more than 40 stores nationwide. Many of Ballard’s best-selling items are unique, one-off pieces that she designs for fun. While some pieces may be similar, no two are exactly the same. Once you have it—you’re the only person who has it. “I just made a few pieces for myself, and people ended up liking it,” Ballard says. “It’s actually a lot like of therapy. It’s — how can I say it? I get in the zone. You’re so zoned in, that you don’t think about anything else.” Outside of the therapeutic qualities she has found through making jewelry, the communal aspect of the local fashion scene came as a surprise to Ballard. “I think it’s really cool to get to share my designs with other people,” she says. “I put my crazy brain into each piece, and people are able to see that. It hardly feels like work.” Janey Bee Gems jewelry and accessories can be purchased locally at SoCo, Janie Rose, Threads, Southern Muse and Mozelle Boutique. 16 JUNE 2017 | myclickmag.com

Best in Brunch Egg white cups and Southern-style cerviche make for a delicious pair of summertime snackables at your next brunch party Recipes by Andrea LeTard
Southern Cerviche My Southern Ceviche recipe is healthy, fresh, and with each bite, you feel like you’re on a beach somewhere. SERVES 4 • 4 corn tortillas - cut into eighths • Olive oil • Kosher salt • ½ lb. calamari tubes - thinly sliced • ½ lb. peeled and deveined shrimp - tails off and cut into thirds • ½ lb. Ahi tuna steak - cut into small cubes • 2 limes - zest of one, juice of both • 2 lemons - zest of one, juice of both • 2 oranges - zest of one, juice of both • 1 can black eyed peas - drained and rinsed • ½ cup minced bell pepper (yellow or orange) • 2 serrano chili peppers - seeded and minced • 1 jalapeno - seeded and minced • 4 green onions - thinly sliced • 2 Tbsp minced cilantro • 1 avocado - cubed (optional) 18 JUNE 2017 | myclickmag.com
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil. Spread tortilla pieces on the baking sheet, brush each side with olive oil, and sprinkle liberally with salt. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, rotating the pan once, until light brown and crispy. Set aside until ready to serve. 2. Bring a medium saucepan halfway filled with water to a simmer. When it starts to bubble, add the calamari slices. Let poach for about one minute then add the shrimp. Let the shrimp poach for about 30 seconds or until they just turn a very light pink. Drain, rinse, and pat the seafood dry. 3. Add the dried calamari and shrimp to a large bowl with the cubed tuna, lime zest and juice, lemon zest and juice, orange zest and juice, black eyed peas, corn, bell pepper, serrano pepper, jalapeno, green onion, cilantro and about 2 tsp of salt. Stir together until all the seafood is coated with the juice. Cover and put in the fridge for at least 3 hours, stirring every hour. 4. When the ceviche is ready, the tuna will be transparent and no longer pink in color. If you desire, stir in cubed avocado. Serve in martini glasses and garnish with homemade tortilla chips.
Egg White Cups These egg white cups are so cute, easy, and delicious. MAKES 1 DOZEN CUPS 1 Tbsp olive oil 1/2 onion - chopped (freeze the other half for next week) 1/2 large red, yellow, or orange bell pepper- chopped (freeze the other half for next week) 1-2 jalapeños - seeded and chopped 1 dozen eggs 2 Tbsp cream (or 1/4 cup milk ) 1 tsp salt or more to taste 1/2 tsp pepper or more to taste 1/4 cup cilantro - chopped 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat olive oil over medium heat in a skillet. Add onion, pepper, a dash of salt and cook until slightly brown. 2. While veggies are cooking, separate egg yolks and whites. Use 12 whites and 4 yolks (you can save the leftover yolks for something else). Whisk the eggs together with the cream, salt, and pepper. 3. When the veggies cool add them to the egg mixture and stir together. 4. Spray a large muffin pan with nonstick oil or butter. Using an ice cream scoop fill each muffin cup 3/4 the way up. Top each cup with cilantro. Bake for 15 minutes or until eggs are no longer runny.
ON THE GO TIP: Store in a large Ziplock bag in the fridge. Each morning, take two out, warm them for 30 seconds in the microwave, wrap them up, and head out the door.

Book Club Basics A handy starter’s guide to building bonds over a good read Story by CLICK STAFF
myclickmag.com | JUNE 2017 21
A CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
Building a book club is easy! All it takes is a few friends united by a love of a compelling read. My friends and I were all constantly reading and recommending books to each other. One day, it clicked - we should start our own book club! We’ve gained new members by reaching into our other circles of friends to see if others would be interested. And it’s not all about reading — a book club provides a perfect opportunity to network with colleagues, as well as a great excuse to host a party. I’m a firm believer that consistency and adaptation keep everything relevant and flowing. It’s easy to get burnt out after a while, and it’s important to listen to members and discover what needs to be done to light the fire again. It’s important that everyone feel included, not just like a member. Everyone is very involved in the decision making, book selection and event planning.
SCHOLASTIC SCHEDULING
Planning begins with an annual meeting. At our December meetings, we lay out a schedule for the upcoming year. We each compile a list of books that we’ve read, have been wanting to read and would love to read again. We research upcoming releases including books made into movies and authors we follow and love. We plan our list around new releases and the “best” rankings, as well as a smattering of yet-to-be-released books we plan to read at release.
22 JUNE 2017 | myclickmag.com
CHOOSING A THEME AND DÉCOR
For our meetings that aren’t on video chat, a little theming and décor magic was necessary. Think about the contents of you book and add a few little touches around the house that recall key scenes. For example, our December meeting was Harry Potter themed which included a Platform 9 & 3/4 entrance and snacks that incorporated both Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the textbook that was made into a move set prior-to the Harry Potter series. We also hosted a Galentine’s ‘90s Heartthrob Brunch for February, themed after the smitten love in the book read for the meeting, Red Queen.
FOOD & DRINK
Themed cocktails are a must! Wine pairings can also make for a winning combination. It goes without saying that a deep red goes well with a mystery or thriller, but a nice Pinot Grigio pairs well with a romance novel. What we do isn’t generalized by a genre, but specialized and catered to by the book we are reading. For instance, The Couple Next Door is about a couple who attends a dinner party, and a terrible thing happens. Instead of just having random snacks, we would have a dinner party to discuss. Setting a schedule to meet and discuss your latest read is easier than it sounds. Combine your love of books, good snacks and great friends, and you have everything you need.
Brie and Candied Bacon Grilled Cheese Bites Recipe Courtesy of Serena Wolf YIELD: 6-8 APPETIZER SERVINGS 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed 2 teaspoons good quality maple syrup 3 tablespoons pecans, finely chopped ¼ teaspoon black pepper ¼ teaspoon kosher salt 1 pinch cayenne pepper 4 slices thick-cut bacon 1 small baguette (or ½ a large baguette), sliced into ¼-inch pieces 3½ tablespoons Président Unsalted Butter, softened 1 wedge Président Triple Crème Brie 1. Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spray a wire rack with non-stick cooking spray and place it on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, chopped pecans, black pepper, salt and cayenne pepper. 2. Place the bacon on the prepared wire rack, making sure the slices aren’t touching. Using a small spoon, evenly spread the brown sugar mixture on top of each piece of bacon. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the bacon is crisp and the topping is nicely browned. (Keep an eye on it in the last 5-10 minutes of the cooking time to make sure the bacon doesn’t burn!) Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature. When cool, chop the candied bacon into very small pieces. (The bacon can also be made in advance and stored in a Ziploc at room temperature for up to 12 hours.) 3. Using a sharp knife, cut the Président Triple Crème Brie lengthwise into 1/8-inch slices. Then cut those slices in half (or thirds, depending on the size of your baguette). Spread Président Unsalted Butter on one side of each baguette slice. 4. To assemble each grilled cheese bite: Place 1 slice of Président Triple Crème Brie on the unbuttered side of a baguette slice. Top with a sprinkling of candied bacon and a second slice of Brie. Cover with a second buttered baguette slice. 5. Heat a skillet over medium heat. When hot, place the grilled cheese bites in the pan. (You will need to do this in 2-3 batches.) Cook for about 1 minute on each side, or until the sandwiches are golden brown and the cheese has melted. Remove from the pan and serve immediately.

Grief Cottage by Gail Godwin
Between Two Skies by Joanne O'Sullivan
When his mother passes, 11-year-old Marcus is sent to live with his reclusive Aunt Charlotte along the South Carolina coast. After a quick town tour, she unwittingly sets him on a path of exploration not unlike her own 30 years prior. At the epicenter? Grief Cottage, named as such after a young boy and his parents disappeared from it over a century ago. Seeking solace, Marcus begins spending his days at the Cottage. It isn’t long before he realizes he isn’t alone — but is his otherworldly visitor friend or foe? Godwin’s latest blurs the lines between fantasy and reality to tackle ageold feelings of loss and remorse. Find out what comes next for Marcus when Grief Cottage hits shelves June 6.
No One Is Coming to Save Us by Stephanie Powell Watts
Pegged as one of the most anticipated books of 2017, No One Is Coming to Save Us follows JJ Ferguson home to Pinewood, North Carolina. Years have passed since he left, and he wants nothing more than to build his dream home, reconnect with an old flame, and settle down. Much to his dismay, he finds that the town he left behind — and the people he once knew — have changed just as much as he has. His high school sweetheart is married, her brother has gone MIA, and the factories are in decline, putting everyone out of work. Join Watts as she explores the tenuous relationship between the haves and the have-nots. Her stunning debut was released on April 4.

Although nearly 12 years have passed since Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, Joanne O’Sullivan’s debut novel picks up in Bayou Perdu, Louisiana, shortly before the storm hits. The small fishing town is home to 16-yearold Evangeline Riley, a two-time fishing rodeo champion with fire in her heart. But when Katrina comes, Evangeline’s past, present, and future are ripped away with no salvation in sight. As Evangeline struggles to regain what she’s lost, O’Sullivan presents an insightful look at Katrina’s impact on family, friendship, and sense of self. Between Two Skies was released on April 25.

Fifteen stories span 180 pages, each offering a breathtaking look into the unknown. For some, this comes as salvation, a fresh start after an abuser’s timely end; for others, a self-destructive jaunt down to the devil’s door. Set in Appalachia, these stories exist at the mercy of their landscape. The region is home to intricacies unlike any other, though some qualms do extend beyond the Eastern edge. Monsters real and contrived fill the pages of Monks’s impassioned debut, but there’s more than sorrow to be had within these binds.

The Forgetting
by Charlaine Harris
by Sharon Cameron
More than a decade has passed since Charlaine Harris last visited the world of Aurora Teagarden, a small-town Southern librarian. In her latest chapter — the ninth in the mystery series — Aurora’s 15-year-old brother vanishes from his school’s soccer field one afternoon. She soon learns that two of his friends, as well as an 11-yearold girl, have also disappeared. And to make matters worse, a dead body was found at the kids’ last known location. As to be expected, Aurora and her true crime writer husband, Robin Crusoe, begin their own investigation. It’s a race against time as Aurora tries to bring her brother home… and find out whether he’s to blame for taking the other children.
The Things We Wish Were True by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen
A white picket fence is a sign of two things: suburban dreams and the lies its takes to maintain them. At least, that’s what it means in Sycamore Glen, North Carolina. For years, secrets have stayed within each property line until an accident at the community pool calls everything into question. After hearing the news, a former member of the community makes an unexpected return after a self-imposed exile. And then it all begins to unravel. Uncover secret after secret as Whalen delivers on a page-turning summer read.

The first in Sharon Cameron’s series of the same name, The Forgetting is set in the fantastical city of Canaan. Within the city’s white stone walls, what’s written is the only thing that matters. That’s because every 12 years, all who reside in Canaan have their memories wiped. Gone are your loved ones, your indiscretions, and your dreams, unless, of course, you’ve written them down. Except for Nadia. For some reason to be discovered, her memories have remained throughout the years. In her quest to understand Canaan, she exposes an unforeseen threat to the city — one only she can stop.
Field of Graves by J. T. Ellison
Although Field of Graves is the eighth installment in J.T. Ellison’s Taylor Jackson series, it’s actually the first Jackson novel that she ever wrote. After going unpublished for years, the book has finally seen the light of day, allowing fans a detailed look into Lieutenant Taylor’s backstory. Right there with her? Paramour and FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin and medical examiner Dr. Samantha Owens. This origin story is set against a Nashville backdrop, with a faith-motivated serial killer abducting young women left and right. Without this case, Taylor and Baldwin would never have met. A solid introduction to the Jackson series, Field of Graves will have fans new and old on the edge of their seats.

Lisa Wingate 48 JUNE 2017 | myclickmag.com
Winning the South Author Lisa Wingate spins new Southern mythology in her latest offering, Before We Were Yours Story by Casey Hilder
“What if?” That’s the question that drives the historical fiction of author Lisa Wingate. Wingate’s writing deals with taking an eye toward real-life events such as the fabled lost colony of Roanoke in the mid-1500s and an orphanage-turned-child brokering operation right here in the Mid-South and injecting her own believable, true-to-life characters in hopes of answering some of history’s greatest mysteries. In her most recent offering, Before We Were Yours, Wingate tells the story of Rill Foss, a 12-year-old girl who lives a happy life with her family on the Mississippi river before she and her siblings are taken from their shantyboat in the dead of night. She is transported to the Tennessee Children’s Home Society and raised by the cruel and domineering Georgia Tann. “Really, every story of mine has a spark – it’s usually some sort of historical event,” she says. “For this one, I was watching an episode of ‘Deadly Women’ on the Discovery Channel. This particular episode was about privilege women who ultimately got away with their crimes: Georgia Tann was one of them. I became fascinated and my mind got to work.” While the children at the center of Before We Were Yours are fictional, the events behind Wingate’s story are all too real. From 1920 to 1950, impoverished children like Rill were kidnapped from happy homes and sold to the care of wealthy families across the country. While adoption records from the time are spotty, several thousand orphans are believes to have gone through the same corrupt system. When the time came to decide whose voice told this story, the choice was obvious for Wingate. “I thought about this for a while: who do I tell this story through?” she asks. “Would it be from a parent’s perspective? A social worker? As I did the research, I began to realize that the stories of the kids were left untold. They were taken from the life they once knew and cast into these orphan homes. What was it like to experience that?” Heartfelt and oftentimes hard to both read and put down, Before We Were Yours serves as a tribute of sorts to storytellers of the past and a new chapter in the great tradition of Southern literature.
LISA WINGATE’S TIPS FOR ENTERPRISING WRITERS What advice do you have for writers looking to be published? First, remember that everyone starts out as a yetto-be-published author. I know it sounds elementary, but don’t attempt to set out into the publishing world until you’re fully ready. In other words, begin by finishing a novel. It’s almost impossible to sell a partial manuscript or idea if you’re unpublished. Polish it and send it out, because as much as we’d like them to, editors won’t come looking in your desk drawer. Yes, showing your work to the world involves some risk. Don’t let rejections wash you up on the beach and keep you there. While you’re waiting for news, write another book. If the first one sells, you’ll be set for a two-book deal. If the first one doesn’t sell, you have eggs in another basket. Don’t take a critique too seriously if you hear it from one person. Editors, agents, friends, and readers are individuals. What works for one may not work for another. If you receive the same comment from multiple sources, consider revising your manuscript before you send it elsewhere. Be tenacious, be as thick-skinned as possible, keep writing while you wait for news.

Hitting the Mark A new technology for the detection of prostate cancer puts patients at ease MEN NOTORIOUSLY ARE AVERSE TO HEALTH TESTS, particularly ones that are invasive by nature. Prostate cancer screenings usually are done through a digital rectal exam (DRE) or PSA test that checks the level of prostate-specific antigen in a man’s blood. These traditional tests sometimes miss prostate tumors. But the UroNav fusion biopsy procedure now available at Regional One Health brings MRI technology to the fold. The UroNav procedure is a fusion of multi-parametric prostate MRI images and ultrasound that allows the urologist to conduct targeted MRI fusion biopsies. “Popular methods of prostate cancer screening can be inconclusive, leading to uncertainties for the patient,” said Robert Wake, MD, urologist with UT Regional One Physicians and chairman of the Department of Urology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Wake is a respected leader in the urology field who performs the UroNav fusion biopsy procedure at Regional One Health. He has a special interest in the treatment and research of prostate cancer and its complications. Dr. Wake said the targeted prostate biopsies should improve the detection of clinically significant disease and decrease the detection of indolent disease, which then decreases the risks of over-detection and over-treatment of prostate cancer. Standard prostate biopsy techniques sometimes miss the tumor because it can’t be seen. Previously, the biopsy procedure was a random sampling of the peripheral zones of the prostate with hopes it could identify cancer that couldn’t be seen by ultrasound. The UroNav procedure at Regional One Health begins with the patient undergoing a prostate multi-parametric MRI. It is reviewed by a radiologist trained in prostate MRI who identifies, marks and then assigns a PI-RADS score from 1 to 5 to the suspicious lesions. 62 JUNE 2017 | myclickmag.com
Those MRI images then are overlaid with the prostate ultrasound images to give a more detailed view and guide the biopsy needle with much more precision than was previously available. The addition of the procedure in urology at the Regional One Health East Campus is a next step in the creation of a men’s health center, which isn’t as common as women’s centers at hospitals and health systems across the country. “With the framework set up at the East Campus, we are well on the way to creating comprehensive men’s health services,” Dr. Wake said. “We want to provide a friendly and comfortable environment where men can come in for most of your health concerns.”
DR. WAKE, M.D. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Wake, please call 901-515-5700 or make an appointment online at RegionalOneHealth.org/East.

INGREDIENTS: · · · ·
4 lime quarters ¼ cup diced mango 1 teaspoon turbinado sugar ¼ cup vodka
DIRECTIONS: 1. In a rocks glass, muddle the lime quarters, mango, and sugar. (Don't go too crazy, people. If you over muddle the limes, your drink will taste bitter.) 2. Notes: If you have a sweet tooth, feel free to add an extra ½-1 teaspoon of sugar.
