THE COMPANY The Nanz Company designs and manufactures premium-quality door and cabinet hardware. Based in New York with a 50,000 square-foot factory on Long Island, the Company sells products through architects, designers, and contractors and maintains showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Greenwich, and London. Manufacturing products on a project-by-project basis, the company combines modern manufacturing with old-world finishing techniques. Our products are of the highest quality available and our ability to manufacture custom parts is unsurpassed. Combining a talented design team and a vast archive of samples and reference material, the company is particularly adept at new product development and prototyping. The company maintains an elaborate workshop equipped with lathes and mills in the Manhattan headquarters. Nanz is efficient in preparing architects and designers for client presentations. Accordingly, our sample collection contains thousands of examples of products in a vast array of finishes.

THE CATALOGUE Our fifth catalogue is designed to assist in preliminary selection and to serve as a tool to review hardware specified on existing orders. It is an extensive but not comprehensive selection of our available products. Visit our on-line catalogue at nanz.com to see a more up-to-date listing of product offerings and all dimensional information. The photographs, drawings, and copy were created in our SoHo studio and the catalogue was designed and published inhouse by our graphic design department. All hardware designs, images, and other copyrighted works, including text and graphic images displayed in this catalogue are owned by The Nanz Company.

THE PROCESS Engaged in project-by-project manufacturing, The Nanz Company assists clients with the selection, specification, scheduling, and coordination of hardware on high-end projects. Most often, the company specifies and manufactures hardware for a project in its entirety. Given sufficient quantity however, some products can be ordered separately. The ability to fill such orders will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The sales staff quotes lead times based on the specifics of an order and our current production schedule. When tight schedules require expedited delivery, Nanz can propose alternate designs and finishes to accommodate time constraints. Locks and hinges can often be shipped prior to shipment of the full order. Templates can be shipped within 48 hours from receipt of deposit.

CUSTOM WORK Nanz has the capability to provide virtually any custom hardware required for a project. Our design and engineering team can design geometric, organic and classical products through the use of traditional pencil and paper techniques combined with both 2-D and 3-D software packages. Our Manhattan-based design studio employs in-house rapid prototyping capabilities to create models for client presentation and approval. Typically we will provide a budgetary estimate prior to providing a quotation. Design and engineering work starts upon the receipt of a deposit. Tooling, fixturing, patterns, and molds must be approved prior to production. While much of our custom work is proprietary, we invite you to review selected examples in our collection of archival and custom designs.

WARRANTY Nanz Hardware is manufactured with the utmost care and attention to detail. Accordingly, every product we sell is guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship. Any defective hardware will be repaired or replaced free of charge. This warranty is limited to the end-user for whose project the hardware was purchased. Nanz finishes are “living finishes” and are designed to improve and change through use and the passage of time. Finishes are therefore not covered by this warranty.

PRICING

MEASUREMENTS

The Nanz Company will provide a detailed estimate for a project upon receipt of floor plans with numbered doors and a corresponding door schedule. Pricing is based on product and finish selection, as well as the size and complexity of the project. Once the estimate has been approved, Nanz will provide a door-by-door schedule with exact pricing. For more information, see the Order Management section.

Measurements for all products are available on-line at nanz.com. Paper templates are available online and threedimensional templates may be provided upon receipt of an order. All item measurements are in inches. Fixed pulls that are mounted through a surface are measured from the centers of the posts, and surface-mounted pulls such as bin pulls are measured fully from one end to the other. Levers are measured from the center of the shank to the handle’s end. Backset is the horizontal distance from the edge of the door to the center of the handle in mortise locksets and rim locks. Recessed pull projections are from the surface of the door into the room.

Nanz will provide a preliminary estimate upon receipt of a written request. Please email the following information to pricing@nanz.com and include the project name in the subject. We will confirm receipt promptly. 1. Project Name 2. Approximate Number of Doors

3. Handle and Hinge Selection 4. Finish Selection

ORDER MANAGEMENT A project manager is assigned to each order. Using proprietary relational database software, all hardware is specified and scheduled on a door-by-door basis. This schedule is issued to the architect or contractor for review. Upon receipt of client approval, Nanz will begin production of the order. The project manager coordinates the project and provides specification information, finish samples, templates, and coordination with the various trades as required. Ultimately, the product is delivered packaged and labeled by door. This service is critical to ensuring an efficient installation. Nanz makes a point of being available during the installation process to answer questions, make recommendations or assist with punch-list items as needed.

THE FACTORY The Nanz factory, located on Long Island, is a 50,000 square foot, state-of-the-art plant employing computer technology as well as traditional techniques. Nanz controls all aspects of manufacturing, from engineering, pattern making, casting, machining, chasing, plating, and finishing, to door-by-door packing and shipping. The factory is capable of producing an almost limitless variety of decorative and functional hardware. The production of each order is managed through a paperless network of control, which directly links Project Managers in Manhattan with the factory. Orders with even the most complex specifications are executed accurately. A collection of photos chronicling our manufacturing processes appears on pages 59-60.

Emblematic hardware dates to the time of the French monarchy when kings would appoint a royal hardware maker to be in charge of manufacturing hardware for the royal residences. Knobs, locks and escutcheon plates would be personalized with the family’s initials, crest, or other symbolism. Nanz provides monogrammed hardware based on existing patterns customized to a clients initials and preferences. Whether using three dimensional casting methods or engraving techniques, art work is provided prior to manufacturing for client approval. Above are some examples from our archives from which clients may choose.
