This month he is showing the three step process he uses to convert a photograph into digital art. This process fors the high level workflow used to create photo art after the initial planning and inspriation James selects on of his original photographs (in some cases he uses images that are under exposed, grainy and stiltly out of focus), these are then edited to remove distractions or amend the layout to suit the planned work, prior to diving in to create the artwork.
The final process of creating the art from an edited image can take many hours of work and be the result of numerous layers of texture and brushwork being overlayed on the edited photograph to achieve the desire result.
The resulting artwork is shown on these pages, this fan art is based on a series of photogrpahs taken by James at Steampunk events in 2018 and 2019.
