W

e mostly dwell on the area of relationships as we have come to understand that the relationships we have affect our relationships with God. God made man and made him relational, however there is a way he expects us to carry ourselves in those relationships that will not tear us apart from him and his grace. In this magazine we discuss that and equip the youth and single adults and even that in marriage on working relationships as God calls us to. We are aware that the world has many experts when it comes to love, relationships, dating, marriage and sex and they all have been generous to share their opinion with us, but this time we choose to look to the greatest of all experts, the all knowing God and his word on the matter.

O

ur relationship on earth is to be a reflection of our relationship with God, We are the bride of Christ and we must teach our generation that to keep them from falling from grace. To allow them to be ready and prepared for the bride groom when he comes, for he is coming, we just do not know when. We want our generation to stay focused and determined to wait on God and not miss him when he comes as illustrated in math 25:1-13. Shalom

Welcome It feels like it has been a while. We have certainly heard our challenges this year with our equipment getting stolen. It was frustrating and emotional because it was an inside job which meant we lost more than just work and equipment, we also lost someone we loved and trusted. It is unfortunate as the young lady had so much potential and we were also invested in educating her further. It is not all in vain for indeed all things work together for good and we have introduced a new section Beauty For Ashes by The Healing Ambassador which allows us to tackle various issues that face the youth, the decisions they make, consequences and how to recover when we fall. This last few months have also been abuzz with activity in the political arena as Kenyans took to the poles to vote for their new leaders and new President. As such we felt it was only right that we pay tribute to the new Kenya under the special feature section instead of our usual celebrity feature. It is at this moment that we would like to thank the Kenyan people for turning up in large numbers, keeping the peace, the media for all the hard work and 24hour updates throughout, the people that many of us saw an few acknowledged who told the news in sign language and of course all the people in charge of conducting the voting activity, counting and ensuring our security. As I sign off I would also like to take the time to invite you to like our new fan page for the Harusi Magazine and share your comments and stories with us. We know that over time our fan base has grown and we would like to get a place where we can further interact with fans and offer them more on a daily basis and weekly than we are able to do every month. It has been a blessing and we hope to get more and more of you reading and giving us your feed back. Thitu Kariba

Dating Dating can be a great experience if you understand what its all about and do not expect more from it that it can offer. I have said before that dating is all about collecting data. This means one has a list of potential boy/girlfriend candidates and gets to work greatly to know what they are all about. Have a list of things you are looking for but make it realistic and make it more about the person than things. Understand that things come and go and yet so do people but people have what it takes to have things or make things happen .One may not have a car or house or whatever right now but has the potential to get that and with you on that side could get there much sooner. Look at things like character, personality, and yes even make. I am not trying to make it an issue but at times it is. Personally there are certain men I do not want to date as a preference and based on past experience as for as race or tribe goes but I am also not completely shut out t o the idea so out such one comes up all give it a try.

Make it or break it temperaments. Make it clear that you are dating this usually means you are seeking more than the person to get to know them in the hopes of ending up with one kind of like the bachelor only PG 16 . Dating only calls for one to find who is best guided to them and going beyond that into sex and the like is a recipe for disaster when it comes to sex one size fits all which ever way you look at it and sex does not make or break a relationship so even if you have great sex you may still have a bad relationship.

I came to learn about temperaments which got met to understand why tend to attract or be attracted to the same land of guy. I am a sanguine, out going , bubby happy go lucky, talks for house and end always up to something . Most men /all men I have dated are melancholic, introverted , quite, not very into doing all and everything not the life of the poetry and tend of gloomy . They say opposites attracts an its true ,give them what they don’t have and vise versa .Check out more on temperaments online find out what you are and how you do with others. And see if you can find a pattern to people you have dated in your past based on Harusi Magazine

Relationships

Loving the difference

Human beings cannot leave on their own and I am not just saying this God said it when he created Adam and said “ it I not good for a man to be alone. That right there is the basis of what I said .Just as one tree cannot make a forest, one man cannot make a nation. / The population. We need to be in relationships to grow whether its at work, home, school or more personal boy or girl or man or woman relationships .That alone then means that relationships take work because it takes work to have one and maintain it. If you are too busy working and whatever else be asked that your relationship with friends ,family, kids ,spouses ,boyfriend, girlfriend will certainly suffer or die out all together. Depending on who you are in a relationship with the work required will differ. In all relationships it is important t o factor in love languages. This does not apply to work relationship but with friends, children etc it does touch ,quality time, gifts, deeds, communication are the 5 love languages used in any personal relationship . The best way to know the 8

love language of your loved ones your wife ,kids, girl/ boyfriend is to not the key they show you love. People love the way they want to be loved and if you mirror that you win! As a therapist the one thing I am coming to clearly understand is that out of all 7 billion people on this planet ( last we counted) no one person is the same. Upbringing ,sex, experience, personality, temperament ,race ,religion ,geographical positioning even whether make up and that a person is not becoming in mind the millions of information an characteristics found in own DNA. So really what we factor in is he basic ,common and general human behavior patterns . That help us understand people and help them. In a relationship one has to always come in with a clean slate and realize even though they look like the last one may be and all other things they are NOT the same and should not be treated as such in a relationship treat the one you are dealing with as a special individual original and unique .Get to know them for them and treat them as such.

Marriage

Ready? Set? …Do you? When I heard about Kim Kardashian and Chris Humphrey’s today marriage all I thought was ………that is a popularity stunt if even had of one. Yes I judged and concluded as many did. I thought that is great for rating and hits and all that but I never thought. For once that it could have been real and feelings could have been hard. After watching the reality show and seeing them trying and feeling I began to thank and even pray for them. I figured this could be any one of us. It is not the first or the last and its not the shortest one either. destruction in this case but not a solution. In some cases sex can be a sign that there is trouble . An example is when it was not being had then suddenly it is .In my case after being celebrate for Jesus I suddenly had sex and my man recognized it was a sign and asked who was wrong. I was grieving and for me the sex was a comfort. This is very common after a funeral loss etc and people have sex to avoid dealing or for comfort. This can also cause issues in a relationship because once again o the grieving or loss is causing issues sex cannot solve them.

House and Decor You spend an average of 6 – 8 hours of your daily life in your bedroom when you are asleep, why not make it more beautiful with pleasant and colorful beddings? Delve into some of these fantastic ideas for turning your beddings into handy dÊcor items.

Using beddings to add color to your bedroom

If you are the kind of person who likes to make a bold statement about yourself, try and experiment with vibrant colors like pink, red and orange for your bedcovers or duvets. You can actually use the bed as a focal point and decorate the rest of the room around it. In case the color of your walls consists of light hues, use darker colors for the beddings to provide an acceptable contrast. Plenty of colored throws arranged on the bed should also do the trick. If you normally turn down your bedcovers or blankets to expose the sheets you can take advantage of this and use printed linen that match with the pillow cases. Alternatively, let the colors of your curtains and wall hangings guide your choice of colors for the beddings to maintain consistency. A variety of bed linen provides the option of changing the bedroom’s look every once in a while or to suit different moods. Stock up on linen with different colors and patterns so that you have a range of options to choose from when beautifying your bedroom. Be sure to combine complimentary arrangements, for example, large floral patterns for bed-sheets can be combined with a plain bedcover turned back on one side. You can also add a small blanket casually draped at the lower end of the bed. Fold the blanket lengthways if it is long enough or create a triangular shape if it is smaller. The latter gives it a more artistic appearance Harusi Magazine

Space saving Kitchen gadgets If you live in a small space it is likely that one of the smallest spaces in your house is the kitchen. Rarely will you find a small house with a spacious kitchen. Countertop space is even smaller and cooking can become a very cramped experience especially if your counters are crammed with various gadgets. This should not cause discouragement though, as there are certain kitchen gadgets that can be space saving and functional at the same time. Generally, you do not want your countertops cluttered with gadgets you hardly use. The best kitchen gadgets to invest in will therefore be those that are collapsible, stackable or can be mounted on a wall. Compact kitchen gadgets can also save space. When looking for space saving kitchen and electronic gadgets go for those that can perform multiple functions. If it can perform many functions it will mean fewer gadgets on your counters. The idea is not to get carried away at the store. Look for nifty kitchen tools while keeping your priorities in mind. Don’t buy anything on impulse. Instead, get creative and have fun hunting for more space saving, multi-functional gadgets.

Coastal culture dining furniture

House and decor The coastal theme in dĂŠcor is quite refreshing and can be achieved easily without having to be at the coast too. All you have to do is get a few signature items that are reminiscent of the coastal culture and there you have it. The beauty of such a theme is the intricate detail incorporated in the pieces of furniture. This is all part of the rich coastal culture. You can create this theme in practically any room in the home and the results are always stunningly refreshing. The dining room is one of the areas where the coastal dĂŠcor theme can be achieved beautifully. This theme uses some of the most artistic wood varieties such as the mangrove and the bamboo. These are creatively crafted into dining tables that make the dining experience all the more exciting. Mangrove is also a very hardy wood variety that is quite long lasting. Bamboo is easily fashioned into tasteful furniture and your dining room can greatly benefit from these timeless designs. Wicker furniture is also extensively used in the coastal area and can be incorporated in dining furniture too. Wicker chairs have a relaxing feel to them and colorful cushions can be added to make them more comfortable. The added color is beneficial to the color scheme as well as acting as accents especially if the wicker chairs are done in a neutral color such as white or beige. The coastal dining experience can also be incorporated in a contemporary modern dĂŠcor theme with ease. Consider a double layered glass dining table with dramatic seashells sandwiched between the two layers for a unique and stunning theme. You can also add beads and shells to plain dining chairs for the same effect. Strings of shells can also adorn your dining room chandelier for spectacular lighting. Harusi Magazine

It’s one thing being in love, it’s another being in the right outfit on a date with the one you love…here are some tips that are not all red for love. 2013 is a new year! Dare to be different, I will show you how. 1.

African Print

African print is hot this season. You can flow with a maxi or opt for a short piece. These dresses are made to fit all body shapes and effortlessly transform your look. Go for bright colours like blue, yellow , orange or green. 2.

Pink Lipstick

No! You won’t look like Lady Gaga! Soft pink lip shades give you a more feminine look. When you wear pink lip colour contrast it by giving your eyes a darker shade to avoid looking like a clown. Try navy blue or violet on your eyes. You can also go for brown or gold to give a more subtle and natural look. 3.

Statement jewelry

When it comes to statement pieces, go for pieces that tell a story. Try maps or abstract shapes or even a heart shaped piece. My personal favorite is a butterfly. Not only do these add oomph to your outfit, they also make for fantastic ice breakers. 4.

Shoes

When it comes to shoes to wear on a date, comfort is key. Be it high heeled strappy sandals or doll shoes, ensure that the shoes are your size and that you can actually walk straight in them. Try different colours. I realized green heels bring your feet to life, I dare you! 5.

Smile

No matter how this day does, love should first flow from your heart. So smile, smile and smile. Research shows you look more beautiful when you smile. So fabulous people, have a fabulous date. 20

A NEW DAWN

Harusi Magazine April/May 2013

When the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) successfully conducted the Kangema, Ndhiwa, and Kajiado North by-elections in 2012, most Kenyans were sure that the March 4th 2013 elections would be as smooth. The commission had an impressive 82% approval rating before the elections, but most Kenyans are now wondering if Chairman Isaak, C.E.O. Oswago, and the 7 commissioners are fit to continue serving. The IEBC was, however, vindicated by a Supreme Court ruling that threw out Raila Odinga’s petition, maintaining that the elections were indeed free and fair and that the results reflected the will of the people. As is the case with the 2007, Kenyans turned out in large numbers and voted peacefully. Some polling stations opened late and it took time for the IEBC officials to organize and to get things going in the larger polling stations, but time was extended where there were problems and it is safe to say that most people voted. Some expected violence, but none was forthcoming. Clearly the problem was not with the voters.

such one. The kids, including my won were out of school for an entire week and very excited about it, but the nation was eager to get the results and get back to work as the elections had brought business to a slow. It seemed to take ages for the final results to come out and when they finally did, there was celebration and suspense as to what they losing Parties would do, in particular all waited to hear from Raila Odigna. I for one was not surprised at his response to the results as were many other Kenyans, Politicians are blaming the IEBC for running a sham election while the IEBC is blaming politicians for failing to concede defeat, so who is to blame?

In all fairness, I say egos are to blame. We are lucky that this time round it did not end up in bloodshed. It has been a long run some have been trying for decades others for the first time, there were several people running but only one seat and I believe that the idea that for one such as Rialia, being his last chance loosing was not an option. The Judiciary started hearing countless petitions from losing candidates and more were expected. This, many suspect, is the polling station later in the afternoon as we had reason Raila Odinga could not concede in this election. every intention to vote and to make it before the deadline of 5 o’clock. After all, the courts ruled in favor of the TNA party and declared Uhuru Kenyatta the 4th President or the Republic of Kenya and the people celebrated yet again. It is fair to say that the people were ready to accept the results and work behind and for their new leader while the candidates who lost were not as ready and willing to accept. This time around however, I am proud that we let the battle take place in the court rooms and not on the streets and homes amongst the people. This time around we let the politicians battle it out and let he politicians deal with the consequences and be left liking their wounds unlike the last elections. The date was set accrding to the new constitution and 9th April 2013 and the public Venue Nyayo International Sports Center Casarani. The turnout was amazing, 60 thousand people filled the stadium to capacity while others were in the gymnasium and in the field. of Commander in chief of the armed forces and the Nation of Kenya. They also tuned in to bid fair well to the outgoing President Mwai Kibaki. Guests arrived in the masses President Yoweri Musieveni of Uganda who gave a candid speech, President Salva Kirr our South Sudan, President Jacob Zuma of South Afirca, President Kagame of Rwanda, our former President Moi, US Rev. Jesse Jackson and many more. It was a day that we had waited for years, weeks and days. The swearing in was short and sweet with Uhuru using one of the very Bibles that his late father and founding father of our Nation Jomo Kenyatta used. His speech was filled with promises to get right to work and dive into the Panafrican Agenda and creating the digital government and Nation. It was a day unlike any other, the sun was not only shining but there was rainbow in the sky, perhaps reminding us that God to keeps his promises for Peace Love and Unity for Kenya, Africa and the world at large.

Never say never Many people I have met have their doubts about God, his existence, purpose, role ,love etc. Many time people judge based on what God does not or has not done for them rather than what he has and are often not willing to admit their part in things that do not go their part in things that do nit go their way. When we look at a precisions resume to see if they are deserving of the job or title or task we only list what we have done and we judge based on that but not when it comes to God. In most cases many find it always someone else fault that things did not work out because often all they are perfect and always night.
