Tokyo is a temporal city not only in the daily aspect, but also in a seasonal aspect. Meaning that while the different times of the day Do change the city, it is also affected by the different seasons the city is in throughout the year. So some spaces may change their essence or function during different shifts in the seasons. This creates a much stronger sense of the Temporal concept in the city.

Comparison (Within Malaysian) Cities
Kuala Lumpur
Penang
Kuching
Morphology Dimension
- Cultural, Compact and functional as the focus - Mixture of high-rise and low-rise building - Balance of soft cape and solids buildings - Designed public realm - Cultural and historical characteristic - Ever-changing events (festivals and events) - Chaos arrangement of buildings - Inconsistent building form and transitional space - Limited open spaces Issue: - Lost spaces created due to the surrounding function of the building
2016/11/26
Mostly residential building around ampang park. The spaces become no function on 12pm
- Mostly in clusterd pocket grid - Mostly two floor building - Mostly shophouses within Georgetown - Less greenery and open spaces - high walkability - higher neighboorhoods - Less public transportation - Cultural as the Trishaws are still preserved Issue: - Less public transportation due to narrow street and road. - No shading
- Mostly in a warped parallel grid - Mostly two floor building - Linear building form along the road - Many greenery but less in open spaces and public realm - low permeability and walkability - lower neighboorhoods Issue: - Due to the long distance between two building/ housing, long travel distance, less easy to acces.

Tales of wish: I believe that a well-designed city is a place where it gives the gift of pleasure, safety comfort and sense of belonging to its residents. An urban planning with the diverse programs that well linked with each other will definitely increase the chance of long-term survival of the city and its residents. The city design, if, through the careful urban planning which is answering the basic needs (physical and emotional) and desire of the people, will be loved by the people. A functional city designed without diverse experiences will become a city of machine that leaves its residents with dry, bored, cold, stagnant, repetitive lifestyle. In contrast, a city designed without a natural system that binds all the programs together can become a city that is lost of control. Both, cannot sustain on their own. Balance hence is the answer. The experience of city life at Jalan Ampang, when compared to the city of Kuching, is somewhat more interesting due to the appreciation of local culture in terms of, food, lifestyle, arts, science innovation, cultural and history through the ever-changing celebration events, giving Jalan Ampang an identity and sense of belonging to the local. However, safety and diversity of programs are two main elements that need to improve. (Yong Yih Tyng)

CITY
Tales of wish: Out of the three cities I can’t choose a favorite actually. This is because I haven’t had the opportunity to fully experience Singapore and Bangkok, but I have been in KL for a while and my experience here has been pretty good with the multicultural nature of the city and, different lifestyle it has compared to where I’m from. (Iche Dunstan Omari)
Kuala Lumpur is probably one of the most balanced cities in terms of special hierarchy in urban planning which affects it’s pedestrian experience in circulation around the city along with the contents of local culture atmosphere. ( Ivan Rui) THE I would prefer KL as it has excelent public transportation planning, thus activating certain streets at certain times of the day, and it is in line with Jane Jacob's theory that an ideal city should have proper connectivity. As in KL, LRT stations are designed & placed in areas with high density, often integrating with bus stops, improving connectivity between places. This areas in turn become vehicular and pedestrian nodes especially during mornings and evenings as people use them to come to work and return after work. Furthermore, I would also prefer KL as it has a good diversity in building types , making it a good place to live, work and play. The variation in building function allows certain areas to become a temporary node, such as Tapak urban street dining, which actually functions as a car park during the day. (Visagan)

CITY
Tales of wish: Singapore has a well thought out city planning with roads that are arranged in grid pattern making it easier for people to move around. Together with architecture that integrates green design, all that make the experience in the city a lot better. Better public transportation system helps reducing the traffic and creates pedestrian oriented pathway which benefit both of the users. (Lee Zu Jing) I would like to choose Kuala Lumpur rather than the other two cities. Kuala Lumpur is a functional city due to the high permeability and walkability in the city. There is always different type of activity happening in the city due to the diversity of culture too! (Jonathan Lo) THE
