On the Buses-Stage 2

Ladywood Ward

In response to Cllr. Kath Hartley's requests, Centro officers are taking steps to bring a bus company on board to run a service^ along Monument Rd. to replace at least some of the former no.8 route. "I've discovered that Morrison's management is keen (for obvious reasons) to see more bus services run past or close to their new supermarket on Hagley Rd. And we're doing our best to ensure that people living around Monument Rd. get a look-in," says Kath. One possibility is that an existing Hagley Rd. service could make a detour- now, that would be "just the ticket"!

Ladywood bus passengers are 'champion'! A big thank you goes to the Ladywood Ward residents who have volunteered to be Passenger Champions as advertised in our July mailing. Already our intrepid public transport users have surveyed bus services and stops throughout Ladywood and beyond. "We'll be recruiting more Champions early next year to join the 50-strong army of bus-sleuths who want to improve things for passengers and drivers alike," says Cllr. Hartley. "And we'll be having a Public Transport Conference in March."

Spotlight on 'Spit Kits' So far this year 88 drivers and users have been spat on by passengers on NXWM buses. That's 88 too many victims of this repulsive behaviour.

The people of Ladywood value their bus services. Our Councillors' mailbag shows this. So, we've decided to update you on some bus matters again.
