International Cooperation One of our main goals is constant internationalization of the university. Every year, we receive students from all over the world, who come either individually, or within exchange programs. SWPS participates on a large scale in international exchange programs such as Erasmus Plus, Atlantis and Santander Universidades and it has an extensive cooperation with universities in China, Vietnam and Kazakhstan. As well, students can spend a semester or two at the College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY. Multiple options of studying abroad give them an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience and to become aware of and tolerant to cultural diversity.

English Studies Master’s level 4 semesters

English Studies Bachelor’s level 6 semesters The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS) is the highest ranked private higher education institution offering programs in the field of humanities. The Institute of English Studies provides the very best education in British and American literature and culture as well as theoretical and applied linguistics, organized as to allow students to focus on practical English language skills. We stress speaking ability, recognizing both fluency and accuracy. The teaching staff are highly qualified Polish and international academics and other professionals. Apart from developing general English language skills and competences related to the English speaking world, students may choose one of the following specializations: English in Business and Media, English Teaching Studies, Translation Studies. Following English in Business and Media program students acquire the basics of marketing, economy, public relations and skills such as blog-writing and other internet related activities. Prospective teachers of English are offered a large array of courses designed to provide knowledge of teaching methods, psycholinguistics and pedagogy. Translation specialization is designed for Polish students, but can also be tailored to the needs of non-Polish students. The ultimate goal of our curriculum is to combine solid theoretical knowledge with practical preparation of language skills and competences which will make the graduate competitive on the job market.

Within the Master’s Program, we offer the following specializations: Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Communication in Business, and Translation Studies. Students systematically work on their English proficiency and build competence related to the English speaking world. Upon writing their final thesis, on a topic that allows not only intellectual but also personal development, they graduate with a Master’s degree. The specialization Communication in Business has been designed to recognize the significance of good communication skills, ranked among the most desired skills and prized qualities in job applicants. Students following this specialization increase their chances to become effective communicators on diverse levels of communication within organizations, but also in personal or cross-cultural communication. In TEFL specialization we offer an array of courses in teaching methods, psycholinguistics and pedagogy. The goal is to provide students with theoretical background and practical skills so they can enter the classroom with confidence. Translation specialization is designed for Polish students, but can also be tailored to the needs of non-Polish students.

International Business Management Bachelor’s level 6 semesters International Business Management is a unique program of study that combines International Relations and International Business with Humanistic Management. In the light of globalization, management strategies should be adopted to certain needs resulting from multiculturalism. This requires a great deal of emphasis put on soft skills that enable one to be successful in business, either as a manager or as a leader of international teams. This program of study is targeted at those who want to not only gain the knowledge and skills indispensable to understand the international business reality, but also develop their sensitivity and imagination that will enable them to perceive chances and risks in the fast-changing environment. Within this program of study students hone their business skills by gaining solid grounds in accounting (e.g. creating balance sheets) and learning how to meet the specifications of the market, manage various sectors of economy, employ modern technologies in business as well as arrange competitive tenders.

Psychology Bachelor’s level 6 semesters The Bachelor’s program in Psychology includes Basic Psychology courses as well as a set of innovative modules from Behavioral Psychology, Conflict Resolution and Management, Mind-Communication-Technology and Cross-Cultural Psychology. This allows students to gain a thorough insight into General Psychology and expand their knowledge in several areas of the discipline. The goal is to give students an edge on the fast-changing labor market and to make them more attractive in the eyes of potential employers. The completion of this program enables students to start a career in counseling, HR, social-competencies training, community relations, conflict management, cross-cultural consultancy and other fields.

The graduates of this program find employment in HR agencies, business- and finance-related sectors of public administration, enterprises, independent professions, international institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Psychology Master’s level 10 semesters

Psychology Master’s level 4 semesters The Master’s program in Psychology is aimed at international students, coming from different paths of education, interested in studying human mind and behavior. Within the Master’s program in Psychology students are offered a choice of two unique specialization tracks: Psychology of leadership - Conflicts, Crises and Cooperation and Clinical Psychology. Each specialization is accompanied by advanced methodology, statistics and ethics. Students are also participating in applied modules (internships) related to their specialization.

English Preparatory School Non-degree program 1 or 2 semesters

The School of Form Bachelor’s Level 7 semesters Design Studies offered at the School of Form is a unique and innovative combination of humanistic and social components. The program has been thoroughly prepared under the supervision of Lidewij Edelkoort, the legendary director of Design Academy Eindhoven. The School of Form consists of four faculties (Communication, Domestic, Fashion and Industrial Faculty) and four humanistic/social profiles (Anthropology, Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology). Such division enables students to become both highly skilled designers and sensitive researchers understanding the future and humans needs. In academic year 2015/2016, we recruit students for the Industrial Design faculty lead by Oskar Zięta, an award winning designer. EDUCATIONAL PROCESS During the first year of studies, students are required to complete 4 seven-week long modules, each module offered by a different faculty. Having been exposed to a variety of courses in numerous specializations, they can get wide knowledge of the design world and come back to the Industrial Design faculty at the second year of studies. During the next two and half years of studies, students have an opportunity to not only gain pure academic education, but also to carry out projects with real business partners, to discover the basics of entrepreneurship and to acquire presentation skills.”

Preparatory School is a nine month non- degree program in English designed for students whose command of English is insufficient to enter a degree program at SWPS. Hence, the aim of the course is to provide them with the language skills and background necessary in the academic field. The course is organized around teaching general English at different levels of advancement and combined with teaching practical academic skills that the students may find useful later e.g. note-taking, essay writing, presenting, debating, problem- solving, teamwork, interaction, exam practice etc. The first semester starts with a placement test making it possible to find the right group for the candidate depending on the test result. Moreover, every semester ends in a practical exam and the progress can be easily measured. The program gives a chance to become a part of international student community by meeting young people from all around the world and learning across cultures. Moreover it provides students with the best academic staff who are aware of the students’ needs and make the course a unique learning experience. Polish Preparatory School Non-degree program 1 or 2 semesters SWPS offers a one-year intensive course of Polish as a foreign language for those who intend to study in Polish as the primary medium of instruction. Workshops and lectures are run from Monday to Friday and they aim at acquainting students with Polish traditions, culture and history. During trips around Warsaw, course participants have an opportunity to get to know the city, its monuments, museums and parks. In the end of the first semester, participants take a progress and after a year they sit an exam checking their overall language skills.
