The atmosphere of both hot spring pools is markedly dif ferent from their location and landscape design. One is open, while the other is closed.

There is a route behind for buggy access, staff service, and emergency incident.

Wastewater from all pools is collected into a creek and cleaned by nature before the disposing.

A residential project of the Provincial Elec tricity Authority is located on a hill at Phuket, a southern province of Thailand. According to the landscape constraint of the slope, The concept was inspired by the site difficulty that turned out to be a unique and excellent opportunity for creating small dams to reserve water.

Following the PEA’s purpose of producing electricity, the organization’s image is green and environmentally friendly. Creating a small dam can reduce runoff and be a recreation of the site.

This project competition is a collab oration between AP Thailand and Chulalong korn university. Students attend the program for about two months to practice the design thinking process, a non-linear, iterative pro cess that teams use to understand users, chal lenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test. Involving five phases—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—it is most benefi cial to tackle ill-defined or unknown problems.

Home becomes the main concept of this project after interviewing and analyzing users. The landscape’s details and planning are putting a sense of home.

Site analysis

Locating at Rama IV Road, Phrakhanong Subdis trict was an area of dense residential urban zones. It lacks green space or parks. Sunpath shows us the angle of sunlight so the building does not block the light at any time. Another concern about the natural factor is wind velocity on the forty-first floor because of the height.

40 Academic Project

Most interviewees suffer from people and the environment. They relax by going out with friends, but some are different. They do not know how to decrease anxiety, affecting their health like depres sion.

The question is, how can we help these people from this suffering? Home is an answer due to the re plies of users. In common, people feel embraced, and most are themselves when they are home.

The ground floor comprises the main entrance, sub-en trance, pet area, home garden, and welcome area. Land scape style gives the same feeling of a home garden and yard in front of the house where users can walk their pets around the zone.

5th Floor

The fifth floor comprises fitness, a co-working space, an eating area, a yard, and a pool.

41st Floor

The Forty-first floor is composed of a pool, deck, morning lounge, night sky lounge, private garden, and jacuzzi. This floor focuses on privacy and calmness as a bedroom.

According to the sub-concept of the 5th floor, the living room, the atmos phere, and the function are about relax ing and chilling. The residents can spend their time with friends or themselves.

5th / 41st

44 Academic Project

The point on the 41st floor is where the resident can take a panoramic view of Bangkok, So the planning and details are designed with the most concern about this point. The resident can see the sunrise and sunset. The reclamation of self is the aim of the designer.

Onnuch solid waste management center is man aged by BMA (Bangkok Metropolis Administrative). The project area consists of a waste disposal plant and an old landfill, which cause odor pollution and affect surround ing dwellings. BMA aims to develop the site into a public space for employees and the community. The co-devel oper of the project is PTT, who encouraged us to add the learning program to the project, which helps create an un derstanding of waste management and raise awareness.

Part of the area was the old landfill which may contaminate with toxic substances in soil and wa ter. Therefore we design the project considering the reclamation and water purification elements.

Our goal for project development is sustainable design by trying not to create additional waste. Various materials used in the detailed design are recycled to rep resent the connection between trash and solid waste.

CHIRP CHIRP PARK

urban / park & public space 2020 8.125 rai Phra Khanong, Bangkok Korawan Prasertsri Onicha Areegarnlert

By 2050, the world will meet the global chal lenge of food shortage. To increase food security, we find alternative sources of food, edible insects. Insects are full of protein, a small area is need ed for crops, and it is environmentally friendly.

The concept of Chirp Chirp park is blending urban farming (Insect farming + vegetable farm ing) to park the function of exercise, eating, and play. The strategy begins by starting the project as a prototype of an urban farming model in Bangkok. To introduce future protein resources (insects) to people, help them familiarize themselves, and ex pand the project to nearby districts in ten years.

In 30 years, expanding our project to many neighborhoods around urban areas, not only in Bangkok, will offer alternative food sources for peo ple.

The main features include the following:

Phra Khanong market is a place to sell food processed from insect powders made from cricket. Waste from market space can be com posted to produce fertilizers for food produc tion and public park maintenance.

Insect farm: Insect shelters are mainly placed in the insect farm zone and scattered all over others in the park. Each tower can produce 228600 insects/per month.

Local park: Playground equipment around the park developed from a physical characteristic of insects. The pur pose of the design is to familiarize children with insects while playing. Planting design in the local park area uses pollinator-attracting plants and herbs that are edible to insects.
