Isn’t it great when you discover a new local place to enjoy a scrumptious meal? Face it, our own cooking can get boring, not to mention frustrating, after a while. Plus, those tried-and-true food joints always end up becoming a bit too repetitive after a while. So, let me introduce you to your new best food nd (a/k/a, your new
that will leave you wanting more. The local owner of IP&F, Taylor Shull, has prioritized serving dishes made with creativity, thoughtful intention, and, most importantly, love. As such, everything on Island Pig & Fish’s menu is made to order using fresh, quality, seasonal ingredients. Additionally, Taylor personally goes into his scratch kitchen each day to ensure that love is being infused into every ber of its operations.

I even got a chance to take a peek at these operations for myself! The love was de nitely apparent, as the kitchen was immaculately clean, and I was really impressed that Taylor’s attention to detail encompasses everything from the quality of the food and affordability of menu items to the comfortability of the dining room and sanitization of every inch of the restaurant.
My friends Mike, Lori, Todd and I visited Island Pig & Fish for a weekday lunch. We started with two appetizers: the smoked sh dip ($16) and fried green tomatoes ($10).
The homemade dip is a luscious combination of smoke and sea, with the avors of fresh tuna, salmon, and sword sh balanced by a rich earthiness. It is accompanied by Lance crackers, bread & butter pickled jalapenos, and crisp celery, so you can enjoy tasting how each option accents the dip differently. You for sure have to try spooning some of it into one of those pickled jalapenos though… that sweet, smoky symphony was one of the best bites of my lunch!
Meanwhile, IP&F’s tomato appetizer takes a southern classic to the next level with its unique “creamy dreamy cilantro lime sauce” on the side for dipping. The “divine”
sauce, as Mike described it, brightens the herbaceous taste of the tomato by adding a very subtle heat that instantly causes you to crave another bite. We also appreciated the fact that the overall dish wasn’t too heavy, salty, or oily… it’s the perfect blend of fresh, healthy ingredients in a fun-to-eat style.
After the apps, we split three entrées: the IP&F burger ($16), house smoked brisket sandwich ($17), and fried Key West pink shrimp platter ($24).
Island Pig & Fish most de nitely earned its award for “Best Burger in Ft. Pierce”! The IP&F burger ($16) is crafted using high-quality Allen Brothers beef that magni cently melts in your mouth.
I really wish we didn’t decide to split everything we ordered amongst ourselves, because I wanted this one all to myself!
The tender, juicy meat is expertly accentuated by a bold bacon and onion jam, creamy Cooper® sharp cheese, sweet house pickles, and a tangy BBQ mayo. It’s no wonder that the IP&F burger is the #1 seller at the restaurant, as it is genuinely the best burger I have ever enjoyed. And remember, I’ve done a lot of dining reviews. I’m telling you, don’t go to Island Pig and Fish without ordering the IP&F burger!
Of course, you can’t go wrong with the brisket sandwich or the shrimp platter either. For a heartier, more savory option, select the tender smoked and chopped brisket, which is served on a griddled potato bun and topped with tasty dill slaw plus a drizzle of IP&F’s creamy ranch hand BBQ sauce. Or, if you’re more in the mood for seafood, then the shrimp platter is de nitely an excellent choice. The satisfying platter is a generous portion of 12 fried shrimp served with Yukon gold French fries, dill slaw, special sauce, and lemon wedges. Honestly though, the succulent shrimp are so good that you don’t even need to dip them in the sauce or squeeze the lemon over them. Actually, we suggest that you try the shrimp with and without the accents to nd your favorite combo!

There are countless reasons to love Island Pig and Fish, which is why I plan to eat there again in a heartbeat. After all, I simply must try the crabby fries and some of Dad’s peanut butter pie! I, along with Mike, Lori, and Todd, highly recommend that you do the same.

Okay, I really don’t like recommending movies, because inevitably, I get lot of emails reminding me that I have no taste in lms, but i can’t help but recommend this one! If you’re a dog lover, and even if you’re not, this is a must-see movie that will not leave your mind for a long time. It is e Art of Racing in the Rain. Spoiler alert, the dog and master do not come to a terrible death, so wipe that from your mind. e dog narrates the movies for the most part (Kevin Costner) and who doesn’t love his voice! It is poignant, thought provoking, sensitive, and everything you could ever want to entertain you for an evening. I saw it on FX, if you happen to get that channel, and it was free.

necessarily animal lovers, but by the end of the night, everyone agreed that the canine species should be able to speak in people language, so we could know their feelings about nearly every subject. One particular sentence stayed with me, probably forever. e dog, Enzo, said, referring to his inability to speak, “Sometimes I hate what I am.” at sentence, at that particular scene in the movie, was a tear-jerker so have tissues available from the outset.
I have always had dogs as pets until the past ten years or more, when it just was no longer feasible, nor would it have been fair to the animal, but it was all I could do not to immediately plunk down some money to nd the perfect animal. I didn’t care, at that point, if it wasn’t potty-trained, chewed up my good shoes,
or ripped apart my leather couch. Fortunately, as most bad ideas reveal themselves, the next morning I came to my senses, but if you can see it in your heart to rescue, purchase or in any way nd the perfect dog for your family, the love you will receive will more than be worth it.
