ANNOUNCEMENT The first significant step in your campaign will be to officially announce your intentions to publicly seek office. At Pulse Multi-Media, we believe that your announcement is newsworthy, and of interest to our many listeners. Therefore, we don’t charge you to air or print your campaign announcement. *Tip: Your online announcement at MyPulseNews.com can be an on-going tool for you in your marketing efforts by including a link on your social media pages As with any news story, however, your news announcement must be made available to use on a timely basis. If not, then we don’t consider it to be of news interest. At that point, we would agree to air your announcement and resume as an advertisement. This one-time fee for a minimum of two broadcasts is $50. If you need assistance with writing an effective announcement, please contact your Pulse Multi-Media campaign consultant.


HOW DO I BUY POLITICAL ADVERTISING? By utilitizing all of our media platforms (radio, print, online) available, you significantly broaden the reach of your message and significantly increase the penetration into each demographic of your voting base. Potential voters can hear you (radio)… see you (print)… and interact with you (web)… giving your more opportunity to earn votes! Your Pulse campaign consultant can help tailor your message for each platform.

RADIO:

Besides its overall effectiveness and popularity, another primary reason that radio is the most frequently used medium in local elections is cost. As a qualified certified candidate, broadcast stations are required by the government to give you our lowest unit rate regardless of the number of ads you purchase. In return for the lowest unit rate, you are expected to pay for your advertising when you place your order. You must also sign a political form stating that you are the responsible person for purchasing the advertising. Your campaign chair or treasurer may sign the form on your behalf. Our lowest unit rate at Pulse Multi-Media is $7.50 for a thirty-second advertisement; fifteen dollars for a one-minute advertisement. These rates are doubled for advertisement placed only in the weekday morning drive-time hours of 6:00-9:00 am. Repetition is the key for radio so we encourage you to concentrate your buys. We can assist you in producing a quality advertisement. You can record your own message in our studios or one of our professionally trained staff can voice your message. Our political files are open to the general public during regular business hours of 8:00 am til 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.


PRINT:

Research indicates that newspaper/magazine readers are more “focused” when reading so print gives you an opportunity to provide a visual and concentrated image of your campaign. Multiple small ads can be purchased throughout the paper in the same issue with targeted messaging OR you can purchase larger ads to present your qualifications and plans. Print “real estate” within the Polk County Pulse is sold in modular sizes. Discounts are extended for ad buys that are placed for 4 consecutive weeks or longer. By working with one media campaign consultant, the process is simple and hassle-free. Only you know your budget for campaign advertising. But first and foremost, make sure that you have an adequate and sufficient number of advertisements playing and running for the two weeks prior to Election Day. For optimum placement, it is crucial to PLACE THIS ORDER EARLY! In radio, we have a limited number of time slots available on a first-come, first-serve basis. They go fast. Our statistics show that candidates not on the radio during this two week period seldom win. DO NOT come in the week before the election and expect to have good times still available. After reserving your time in this two week period early, spread out your remaining campaign funds in the time frame from six weeks to two weeks prior to the election. This will allow you to begin building the vital name recognition you’ll need to win. People will recognize your name when you begin visiting on the campaign trail. In print or online, a preferred space fee of 30% is charged when specifying the page you wish your ad to be published. Placement is sold on a first come, first serve basis. With more people taking advantage of early voting opportunities that kick in three weeks prior to election day, it’s more important than ever to get your message and name recognition efforts underway as early as possible.


WHAT DO I SAY? RADIO:

You can add, delete, or change the text of your advertisement and get the new message out to the public in a matter of minutes at no extra charge. When you’re meeting with your Pulse Multi-Media campaign consultant to write and record advertisements, remember that there isn’t such a thing as too much information. Photos and graphics can be powerful in building name recall with voters plus you can share your qualifications, experience and goals. Newspaper ads have a longer shelf life and can be read time and again, driving your message home with voters.
