that, he attended Broad Ripple Performing Arts High School in Indianapolis. It was even earlier than that, however, when Jeffrey began dancing. He likes to tell the story of how he was “tricked” into joining his first African dance class by a teacher who advertised it as “hip-hop” to make it more attractive to youngsters. Jeffrey, 10 years old at the time, was not disappointed, as he immediately discovered his love for African dance. He soon began traveling to other U.S. Cities— among them New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Cincinnati—for more intensive training, and by the time he was 15, he wanted to go to Africa to study. He placed “Send Jeffrey to Africa” collection boxes in local stores to raise money for the Cultural Arts Safari, a trip led by Chuck Davis.
