The festivities will begin at 12:00 Noon with a free luncheon for seniors ages 55 and older, featuring door prizes and live jazz music. Bingo will be offered from 1:00 until 3:00 PM. The food and vendor court will open at 2:00 PM, and the carnival (with a DJ) will run from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. He spoke of the growing need for skilled tradespersons and how learning a trade can make a middle class life possible once

again. He spoke of the need for welders, industrial maintenance, CNC machinists and Industrial Electricians and how these types of tradespersons are revered and respected in Europe, on a par with doctors, lawyers and engineers. They do not enjoy such accolades here in the U.S. Ted laments “which is a shame since they can make in the 6 figures salary with benefits and overtime!” The average Regional Wage for Manufacturing is $67,128 per year, or 16% more than the overall average earnings in the metropolitan Region. CAIC is instrumental in getting and keeping manufacturing in the area and in training people for the jobs therein. Here is what is needed to get one of those great jobs: Math,Writing and Reading skills on a High school level, the ability to read blue prints, computer skills and soft skills such as team work, problem solving and listening. Ted predicts however, that there will be a resurgence in young people who will be interested in manufacturing jobs when they see how recession proof most are.
