ROSEMARY CLOONEY MUSEUM

Located on the banks of the Ohio River in historical Augusta, this house turned museum is dedicated to the life and career of singer and actress Rosemary Clooney. This home was Clooney’s retreat from the demands of her career and a haven for rest between performances all over the world. The Rosemary Clooney House, Inc. Foundation was established to preserve the house, to open it to the public, and to showcase memorabilia from Clooney’s life and career. The house also contains the largest collection of “White Christmas” memorabilia in the world.

1811 JAIL

Located in the original town square of Appelman Park, the 1811 Jail is the oldest jail in the state of Kentucky with its original foundation. It housed prisoners into the 1970s and still has many original artifacts, including cells, cuffs and jailer’s rifle. Explore the prisoner’s quarters on the first floor, which have been fully restored to its original conditions. This interesting piece of Augusta history will uncover stories of the past.

BAKER-BIRD WINERY

The oldest commercial estate winery in America, the Baker-Bird Winery was built by German immigrants who settled in the area. Because this section of the Ohio River reminded the German settlers of their homeland, the area in and around Augusta was dubbed “America’s Rhineland.” The Baker-Bird brand denotes high quality wines. Since its reopening in 2010, visitors have the chance to step back into history. In addition to award-winning wines, Baker-Bird features many local and regional products, including Kentucky Proud items.
