CATHEDRAL BASILICA OF SAINT LOUIS
Embrace this prime example of mid-19th century federal architecture. The Old Courthouse is known not only for its classic architecture, but also the notable cases presented in the courthouse, such as Dred Scott, who sued for his freedom from slavery. The Gateway Arch is symbolic of St. Louis. This iconic structure was completed in 1965 and has since provided millions of visitors with stunning views of up to 30 miles from east to west. Completed in 1914, this stunning cathedral was designed to meet the grandeur of European cathedrals. One of the most notable traits of the structure is its domed ceiling covered in mosaics portraying saints and milestones of the Catholic church in St. Louis. This historical museum traces its roots back to 1892, when the Missouri Historical Society opened the facility to host a vast collection of historical artifacts. In 2000, the museum underwent a contemporary extension that more than tripled the museum’s size. Today, the museum focuses on showcasing local history and a dynamic interaction between visitors and the history on display.
Established in 1879, the Saint Louis Art Museum presents comprehensive collections of the highest quality works of art from St. Louis and throughout the world. Beginning from a humble collection of plaster casts and electrotype reproductions, among other examples of design in various forms of media, this museum prides itself on the vast expansion of the collection since its founding and the legacy of artistic achievement it preserves.
