small American towns. Unlike other cruiselines, we do not partner with local P or kickbacks. Our support and suggestions are businesses for commission R 8 purely to benefit the local economy in each town.

The American Empress Shore Excursions staff strives to capture the true essence of each port we visit to give you the most authentic immersion into the region. We are constantly working to find the best local guides and historians to share the story of their beloved cities.

These truly American towns do not often feature the ritzy shops and cafés frequently visited on European river cruises. Instead, local, hard-working business owners present their piece of the American dream in towns OLD MARKET whose glory days are long gone, but their spirits remain. HALL

These independent, local guides will join us on both our Hop-On Hop-Off Tours and Premium Excursions. They will be sharing their knowledge of the port’s history, weaving in their own personal stories and personalities, allowing for an intimate, sometimes unedited, glimpse into the culture and charm of their town.

N

When possible, we include stops near local pharmacies, so our guests can refill prescriptions or purchase any necessary supplies.

Embark on a journey through the Red Mountain Viticulture Area. Generally recognized as one of the Northwest’s best suited regions to grow wine grapes, we’ll lead you on a tour of the area with samplings of the wines borne from their fruits along the way. Discover the history of the Red Mountain area and the contributions of wine production in the Pacific Northwest. A visit to Desert Wind Winery will provide stunning views, before continuing on to Black Heron Spirits. Following Black Heron Spirits, our journey will continue as we make our way to Kiona Vineyards and Winery, a family run vineyard.

Today, join us for an EXCLUSIVE experience as we travel behind the gates of the infamous B-Reactor National Historic Landmark at the Hanford Site. Thi is an experience that has never been permitted before and has been crafted specifically for American Empress guests. Our journey will begin as we arrive at the REACH Museum, where we will enjoy an “official” boxed lunch, much like the one thousand workers would receive at the site each day. As we eat, our guide will share some background about the Manhattan Project at Hanford. After exploring the exhibits and displays in the museum, we will make our way to the Hanford Site and B-Reactor!

This full day adventure will cover all of the most desirable highlights of America’s Pacific Northwest. Experience this region unlike ever before. Get a glimpse of the natural power and beauty of nature at Multnomah Falls and the Bonneville Dam as water rushes across rugged walls of rocks. Experience the lush vegetation as we travel down the “Fruit Loop.” Taste the most fresh and delicious resources at Parkdale Grange where an all-American lunch will be served. Then, discover the history of the Timberline Lodge as a Park Ranger leads the way, followed by wine and beer samplings!

As we travel down the famous Old Scenic Highway stretching itself across some of America’s most beautiful landscapes, excite in the stunning views of the Pacific Northwest. Capture a photo of Crown Point, one of the most photographed views in the region, to keep as a memory of the picturesque views of the Columbia River Gorge below you. Vista House offers a panoramic view of the Columbia River, perched more than 700 feet above. Oregon’s tallest and most mighty waterfall, Multnomah Falls, is the perfect conclusion to the day. Please Note: Due to the recent Eagle Creek Fire, certain parts of Multnomah Falls and the Old Scenic Highway are closed. We have discounted the price to reflect this difference.

Reminders & Tips

Trace the journeys of Lewis and Clark as we begin the day traveling to Middle Village also known as Station Camp, where the explorers occupied space for ten days in November of 1805. Watch as the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean crash into the bluffs below and take in breathtaking views of the Columbia River at Cape Disappointment, the location Lewis and Clark concluded their two year exploration. Then, we’ll stop at the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, Fort Clatsop, where you can become an explorer as well – discover extensive exhibits and replicas outlining the journeys of this famous duo.
