SUPPORTING LOC AL BUSINESSES

SHORE EXCUR SION GUIDES

American Queen Shore Excursions is proud to contribute to the growth of small American towns. Unlike other cruiselines, we do not partner with local businesses for commission or kickbacks; our support and suggestions are purely to benefit the local economy in each port.

The American Queen Shore Excursions staff strives to capture the true essence of each port we visit to give you the most authentic immersion into the region. We are constantly working to find the best local guides and historians to share the story of their beloved cities.

These truly American towns do not often feature the ritzy shops and cafés frequently visited on European river cruises. Instead, local, hard-working business owners present their piece of the American dream in towns whose glory days are long gone, but their spirits remain.

These independent, local guides will join us on both our Hop-On Hop-Off Tours and Premium Excursions. They will be sharing their knowledge of the port’s history, weaving in their own personal stories and personalities, allowing for an intimate, sometimes unedited, glimpse into the culture and charm of their town.

DELI V ER ED TO YO UR S TATER O O M !

Every evening, the Hop-On Hop-Off map for the following day will be placed in your stateroom during turndown ser vice.

Kiosk is located between the Shore Excursions and Purser’s desks. Departure tickets can be printed each night, beginning at 5:00 PM.

Use this helpful tool to get the most of your next day’s experience in port!

Today’s journey brings us to the Tanglewood House, where we will watch in awe as Tanglewood’s expert chefs present us with a home-style biscuit baking demonstration. But the activities don’t stop there! We’ll get handson in the Tanglewood kitchen as guests are divided into teams to compete in the ultimate biscuit bake-off competition! A little friendly competition is sure to work up an appetite, so enjoy a cookie (or five) and some refreshing punch while the warm aroma of biscuits in the oven fills the air. After the biscuits are finished and tasted, the champions will be crowned and the biscuit-baking champion can hold his or her head a little higher as we make our way back to the dock.

The spirits of Dixie are alive and well! Experience the history, sights, sounds --and tastes --of some the classic vices of the American South on today’s visit to Clarksville, Tennessee, with behind-the-scenes tours of the Southern Lights Tobacco Farm, Beachaven Winery and Vineyards, and the Old Glory Distillery. At Beachaven Winery we will be free to sample as many varieties of their critically acclaimed libations as we like and at the Old Glory Distillery we will enjoy free samples of their handcrafted creations.
