Food Expo Nature’s Sweet Sensations – The Varied Textures Of Hangwa
Location: MADISON SQUARE PARK 4
MYUNG KIM
Korean Traditional Sweets Korean traditional sweets, Hangwa, are stimulation for our eye, taste and texture. Hangwa satisfies the sweet cravings that people look for in desserts, but it is filled with nutritious natural ingredients. In addition to their natural flavor, the eye-catching delicate patterns that are composed on the Hangwa and its hopeful messages offer good luck. In my exhibition, I highlighted four different types of Hangwa that best represent its various characteristics.

Through Hangwa Exhibition: Visitors can experience Hangwa as healthy sweets that contains thoughtful messages of caring and wishing good fortune to their neighbors. It is a present that nature has given to us. Visitors learn about their process of making Hangwa by touching various textures and participating in different activities. The scavenger hunt through the park will introduce the participants to understand the different patterns and what they represent. The wishing notes tell about Korean tradition of imprinting patterns on Hangwa to wish good fortune. The simple roof pattern uses natural light and shadows to evoke the feeling of naturalism that is fundamental to Hangwa. My exhibition directs visitors to interact with its structure through touch. PATTERN: A film with constantly-changing shadows in response to weather conditions. The patterns are linked to sensors that monitor wind currents and cause the glass panel to change its level of opacity. Eco-friendly materials such as wood and cork are used to make the structure and the platform.

Concept BRIGHT /LIGHT / LASTING / BRILLIANT With diamonds, each facet reflects light in different ways and attracts people’s eyes with their brilliance. Just like the diamond’s lasting brightness, IGT sparkles the gaming industry with their expertise, vision and spirit to push ahead of the game. Therefore, the expression of IGT’s new logo, which is 2-Dimensional, is represented as lights shining through a diamond.
IGT / G2EK

Overall Design The overall design immerses the visitors in rays of light made with fiber optics as well as revolving lights. Lights from inside that shine out to facets on the outside will turn on and off or move to different facets making the diamond appear to sparkle. This resembles the brilliance of a diamond and the 3-Dimensional form of IGT’s logo.

Office Design Edible Arrangement
Edible Arrangements wants to give customers a unique and customized gift for celebrating special days and holidays. Their focus is building a friendly and trustworthy connection with the customers and being responsive to customer’s specific needs, which is why their fruit bouquets have versatile ornaments and fruit shapes. Edible Arrangements uses no preservatives and bouquets are made locally. In my design, I wanted to capture the spirit of celebration through using warm and bright colors. The colors also represent the fresh high-quality fruits that they use. Fabrics and materials were selected with recycled or natural contents to support the natural theme of Edible Arrangements. The openness and having the sales area in the center represents Edible Arrangements’ commitment of focusing on the customers. The curves and weaving designs represents the “come together” tradition of holidays, sharing, and integrating joyfulness that people have in celebrating.

X24 X-EFFECTS PROJECTOR PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The X24 X-Effects Projector provides large scale rippling light effects previously unavailable to lighting designers. The device utilizes a 200-watt Enhanced Metal Arc source, whose short arc allows for an output of 5000 lumens, and a 7000 hour lamp life. The color temperature is similar to a Xenon source at 6000ºK. The effect itself is created by rotating two “X” size glass gobos off-center of the optical path. This results in a projection that does not appear to have a visible direction or pattern. Speed and direction of both gobos are controlled from on-board potentiometers or via DMX. Dichroic color and patterns can be inserted into the lens trains. Framing shutters allow beam shaping/control. Lens trains are available in 19, 30, 50 and 70-degree configurations. Due to the efficiency of the lamp and the design of the optics, all images have crisp edges, even for long throws of 100 feet or more. X24 X-Effects Projectors are supplied equipped with a 200-watt Enhanced Metal Arc source and a customer-chosen lens train. The X24 X-Effects Projector is available in two configurations. For Theatrical entertainment lighting specify the model with DMX on board. Using five DMX channels, the unit has full control of each effect gobo, lamp strike, and light output. The DMXcontrolled douser, also initiated through your lighting control board, directs not only the light output but blackouts and fades as well. For such permanent installations as retail or museum display, or where DMX is not available or required, the analog X24 X-Effects Projector is a good choice. It includes onboard potentiometers to control the speed and direction of both gobos.
