Women's Progressive Dinner
In February, author and speaker Marty Brounstein shared a meaningful story of courage during the Holocaust. The Chapel was filled with Encore students, VPC members, community college students, Jewish congregants from Temple Solel, and Christian nuns. Marty was there to wrap up the class Your Courageous Choice: The Holocaust and Christian Discipleship. Men and women from different backgrounds and faiths heard stories of courage and what it means to follow Jesus into difficult situations. The class created opportunities for dialogue about who Jesus is and how Christians and Jews can face traumas of the past with renewed hope for healing. The Sisters from Canaan in the Desert shared about their ministry to Holocaust survivors and the Jewish community here and in Israel. They ended the evening by singing a prayer for each one of us and for the Jewish people: “Bless your people, Israel.” May God’s blessing continue as we develop and deepen relationships between Christians and Jews in our community!
