Invitation to More Invitation to the fullest life

God doesn't give gifts the way we do. His blessings are not transactional; all of creation belongs to Him. There is no transfer of ownership. This is true of each and every gift in our lives. Understanding this rewards us with such freedom! We're given the privilege and responsibility to care for that which belongs to and was created by our heavenly Father. This biblical truth is the cornerstone of stewardship. The very word, 'steward,' describes someone who watches over that which belongs to someone else. God owns the earth and all that is in it. Psalm 24:1-3 and Deuteronomy 8:11-18 say, in part, "remember the Lord, your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, so that He may confirm His covenant that He swore to your ancestors, as He is doing today." These verses debunk the myth that we are the source of our own wealth. When things go well for us, it's tempting to take the credit. But God didn't create the world and turn us loose. He is the creator of all that is, our source of wisdom and tenacity. If God is the owner of all that is, the provider of our abilities and resources, is there room for us to imagine we are the source of our own good life? Why do we pledge? We are called to steward our many God-given blessings.

Calendar of Events

VPC's popular Dinner for 8 program has been expanded! An integral part of the life of our church for years, Dinner for 4, 6, or 8 still centers on people gathering over a meal and developing new friendships at home, at the park, or a favorite restaurant. The new twist on this great idea is two new alternatives: groups of six or four (in addition to groups of eight). Now you have options for the size of the group you’d prefer. Dinner for 8 and 6 groups meet throughout the year while the Dinner for 4 groups will rotate every three months. We’re excited to begin sign-ups for these dinner groups today! They will be an amazing mix of couples, singles, Boomers, Busters, Millennials, Gen-X and Great Builders Generations. Everyone is welcome to be part of a dinner group. Sign up outside worship centers today or online: vpc.church/dinner.
