Invitation to Open Your Heavenly Heart Invitation to generosity and giving
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -Luke 12:33-34
"Watch out," said Jesus, "Be on your guard against all kinds of covetousness." But what is covetousness? It is a selfish ambition to get more and more; some people are never satisfied with what they have. And this is exactly what covetousness is—it is greed or avarice, an excessive or inordinate desire to gain. After warning against covetousness, Jesus states the reason for the warning: "A man's life does not exist in the abundance of his possessions." This is one rendering of a clause that is very difficult to translate. The New English Bible puts it another way: "Even when a man has more than enough, his wealth does not give him life." Either way it is expressed, Jesus plainly means that life is more than things, that the success of a man's work cannot be measured in terms of what he has been able to accumulate.
Why do we pledge? Our hearts will always be where our riches are.

Happiness is not found in things. Money can buy much, but money cannot buy a sense of usefulness, a clear conscience, and a mind content with God and man. These are riches, without which no man can be really happy.

VPC is a place where you can
We're glad you are here today! VPC is a community that believes God calls us to be in relationship. Sunday morning worship is a time to gather, connect, and give thanks to the Creator who loves us without end. New to VPC? Welcome! We want to know what VPC can do for you. First Step Cards are available in all worship centers. Feel free to fill it out, drop it in an offering tray, or give it to a volunteer at the Welcome Center. Want to join our growing community? You can join today! If this is your first time at VPC or you've been coming for months and are moved to join our church, a Pastor and a church leader will be available after worship to talk and pray with you. If you’re here with kids, We have several fun and safe opportunities for kids: Nursery: Sunday School: If your kids stay in worship, check (Infants-2 years) 3 years-5th grade out the worship activity cart in 8:45-11:45AM 9:15-10 & 11-11:45AM each worship center.
Childcare is offered wherever you see an asterisk: * Questions? Email Brianne Bergfeldt: nursery@vpc.church
VPC's popular Dinner for 8 program has been expanded! An integral part of the life of our church for years, Dinner for 4, 6, or 8 still centers on people gathering over a meal and developing new friendships at home, at the park, or a favorite restaurant. The new twist on this great idea is two new alternatives: groups of six or four (in addition to groups of eight). Now you have options for the size of the group you’d prefer. Dinner for 8 and 6 groups meet throughout the year while the Dinner for 4 groups will rotate every three months. Everyone is welcome to be part of a dinner group. Sign up outside worship centers today or online: vpc.church/dinner. Questions, Linda Coffelt, 480-688-1527

Wise Giving Panel: Grow your generosity November 17, 10AM Fireside Room Jesus calls us to be generous givers, yet also challenges us to be wise stewards of His gifts. This informative workshop will discuss how to be a wise steward over your charitable donations.
You are such a blessing to our family and this world. God has given you so many special gifts and we see those in you already. Our prayer is that by drawing close to God through scripture, you will meet and know the amazing Creator of the Universe. We know that if you invest time with God through His word, you will be changed. We have confidence in this because the Bible transforms us to accomplish what God desires. We pray you will become the person, the son, the daughter, the brother, the sister, the classmate, and the friend God wants you to be, and that His Word will dwell richly in your heart. God promises that He has a plan for you, and if you follow Him you will have a hope and a future. We love you, and know that through God you can, and will, become all He intends you to be.
