DEAR READERS,

I can’t believe it’s the end of 2024, what a year it has been! As I look back and reflect on this past year, I am forever grateful for all the blessings and lessons that have come my way.

This year, I visited our Nashville office and spent a week out there hitting the town. We also went on a work retreat this past October. Mark took the whole staff on a cruise to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico. We had so much fun. A trip full of self-discoveries, adventures, and new friendships. Thank you, Mark!

There’s no better way to wrap up the year than to highlight and celebrate a diverse group of men who make a difference in Las Vegas and positively impact our local community. We receive hundreds of nominations each year, and although we’d love the ability to feature many of the incredible nominees, the list has been narrowed down with well-known leaders, and the new rising stars this year. We are proud to publish the 2024 Top Men of Success. These extraordinary men have made a positive impact in our community and are both nominated and voted by our readers, through their service, commitment, charitable contributions, and big hearts. Congratulations to these outstanding men!

As always, I want to thank you all for continuing to support us by picking up one of our magazines, coming to our events, and being a part of our MYVEGAS family. This is a topic that I never stop researching… I am absolutely obsessed with it because I like to get my clients and myself the best and fastest results possible.

For the longest time, I was told the correct way to train is split training and you have to eat oats and eggs before every training session. If you train on an empty stomach, you will break down lean muscle mass. Oh, and don’t forget to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your metabolism up. Have you ever heard this?

I followed this for years with little to no results. I had an extra 40lbs on me. I was bloated, tired and feeling like it was time to give up on my weight loss journey and settle for the body I had. Have you ever felt that way?

If so, keep reading. I am about to show you what I did, how I switched it up and how my results were better than ever before.

My OLD routine with split training was… Monday:

Eat then do Legs, eat some more Tuesday:

Eat then Back/Cardio, eat some more Wednesday:

Eat then Shoulders/Cardio, eat some more Thursday:

Eat then Legs, eat some more Friday:

Eat then Arms/Abs/Cardio, eat some more

Once I was sick of not seeing results, I started doing more research on why I wasn’t seeing results. I had struggled with arms my whole life. I never really had muscle definition in them, I held extra fat in my triceps (hormone imbalance alert) and it made me so insecure because people would always make comments like, “You train all the time, so why don’t your arms change?”

As I did more research on gene activity, I figured it’d be a good idea to try Full Body Training 5 days a week. I learned that

working your muscle groups 3 times a week is best for results, so I made my workout routine accordingly.

Fasted Legs, cardio fast until 11/12

Tuesday:

Fasted Upper body/ core/cardio, fast until 11/12

Wednesday:

Fasted Legs/ cardio, fast until 11/12

Thursday:

Fasted Full Body/Cardio, fast until 11/12

After doing this for a few months, I felt stronger, I had more definition, lowest body fat ever, I had more fun with my workouts since I wasn’t just focused on one muscle group, and let’s not forget the amount of time I saved in the gym. Once I had success with it, I switched most of my clients to it as well to see how they liked it. They loved their results and reached their goals a lot faster.

Even with the success of myself and clients, I was still having trouble accepting this new way of training because for the longest time I was told that you NEED 48-72 hours of

recovery if you really want to see results. So of course, I went back to research and had a whole new light on muscle growth.

The way I was training before, I wasn’t stimulating my muscles enough. With the new way of training, I had more metabolic benefits, stimulated muscle growth more often and I burned more calories during each workout. On top of all those benefits with full body, my joints are never sore now because I am not lifting as heavy.

With my experience, I truly love doing the full body workouts. I went back to fasting (since eating before lifting just completely slowed me down) and I now have better results and energy through my entire workout. A lot of my clients train this way and love it, but I don’t recommend doing it right off the bat especially if you have a medical issue or are new to fitness.

If you are new to fitness, I recommend eating something light and training full body. Once you feel you can train without eating before, then make the transition into fasted workouts and see how it works for you.

These are words often used to describe Anna Stewart Billings. Among other things, Anna has a desire to empower women and children to be the best they can be. Her desire to help and uplift others comes from a lifetime of learning – about people, about business, about hard knocks, but most importantly -- about herself.

The name Anna means grace and Anna is indeed a woman of grace. She was born in Bisbee, Arizona of German, Mexican, Cherokee Indian, and Scottish descent. As she watched her mother raise her five siblings, she learned what it took to take positive action to get things done. Her mother is her inspiration and the light that has guided her to achieve greatness.

This inspiration and strength is what Anna has had to lean on during what has been the most difficult year of her life – her son Gabriel Vian suddenly passed away in 2023. A mother’s worst nightmare - she misses his daily phone calls, fun-loving teasing and how he brightened her days. The shining light in all this darkness is that Gabriel left her with her beautiful grandson, Braunsin, who will continue his dad’s legacy. Anna is dedicating this article to her son Gabriel.

Anna’s giving and caring spirit touches everyone in the community. She cares deeply about disadvantaged women and children. As the manager for the Anne Fontaine boutique in the Forum Shops for the last 18 years, she has contributed generously to many charities, including St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Women United and the Forgotten Song Foundation, with her unique events and fashion shows. Giving back is especially important to Anne Fontaine, which is what inspired Anna to get involved.

That giving passion crossed over to her home life when Anna and her husband adopted their youngest nearly 20 years ago – a

special needs baby from a troubled home. She knew that they could make a difference in the young man’s life. Their caring devotion was rewarded when their son Evin graduated high school and is now pursuing a career. Family life is especially important to Anna, they have a total of three sons and three grandchildren.

Despite Anna’s humble beginnings she always sets her aspirations high. Many opportunities were placed in front of her throughout her life – each one building on the next. If someone tells Anna she cannot do something, it only drives her to do that –and better than anyone else.

That desire to do it better than anyone else shows up in everything Anna does. Radhika Shah, age 22, founded Real Autism Difference (RAD) nonprofit organization in the Southern Nevada area for her 16th birthday in 2018. Radhika was inspired by her younger brother, Amar, who has severe autism. After spending several hours volunteering in Amar’s Special Education classroom and witnessing the severe lack of resources for him and his peers, Radhika became committed to her mission at age 13 of eventually launching an initiative to put a dent in this existing problem. Three years later, her

dream materialized with RAD’s launch. Since then, RAD has successfully implemented afterschool, weekend, and summer care respite programs with a 4:1 child-to-provider ratio so individuals who require significant care can attend. Additionally, RAD has conducted several programs throughout the years including sensory play workshops, RTC Mobility training, educational seminars for families, and a variety of other programs in the Southern Nevada community.

Radhika recently graduated Stanford University in June of 2024, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Biology with a concentration in Brain and Behavior. Now in medical school, she plans on pursuing a career in neurology and ultimately returning to Las Vegas to provide exceptional patient care and continue to serve her community.

Despite Radhika pursuing her academic endeavors outside of Nevada during the past few years, Radhika remains committed to running RAD. Fortunately, RAD has a dedicated team of board members, volunteers, and a full-time coordinator who continue to complete many of the day-to-day hands-on tasks that RAD’s programs require. Radhika regularly meets with her RAD team to oversee program logistics, brainstorm new program initiatives, and guide the organization in achieving its mission and goals.

Over the last few years, Radhika’s contributions to her community have garnered her national recognition. Most recently, Radhika was named a Loreal Paris Women of Worth, awarding RAD nonprofit organization a $20,000 grant. Through this recognition, Radhika had the opportunity to film a mini-documentary with HBO Max which aired nationally, sharing important information about autism, her brother’s story and the RAD organization around the country. Additionally, with several dozens of speaking engagements under her belt, ranging from a TEDx Talk to interviews on local TV stations, Radhika continues to be an avid public speaker to inform the community about autism and share her passion.

THE TRUE TASTE OF THE SOUTH

Since a young age, John Holland, Executive Chef and Owner of Rollin Smoke Barbeque, knew that cooking was in his bones. Growing up, John would ask his mother to prepare the Thanksgiving desserts, and even grilled for his friends and co-workers after long days in the Arkansas oil fields.

At only 24 years old, John decided to pursue his culinary dream and move to Las Vegas to attend La Cordon Bleu.

John soon realized that not a single BBQ restaurant around the valley resembled the true Southern roots of home. He decided it was time to take his mobile smoker/grill to the side of Russell Road, in a hardware store parking lot with his dad and brother to put the true taste of the South in everyone’s mouth. The first day, the team sold 3 sandwiches. The second day, they sold 7 and continued to grow their business, deciding to open their first brick and mortar location in 2012. Shortly after, Rick Harrison and his father became regulars at the restaurant, eventually offering them a partnership in the plaza next to Gold and Silver Pawn Shop.

John had no idea that his once small mobile smoker/grill would grow to this extent, and continuously expand. Winning numerous BBQ competitions, receiving national recognition in the top 16 Hottest New Barbeque restaurants, recognition as Top 20 best Barbeque restaurants in the country, being featured on channels like Food Network, Discovery Channel, and many more are just a few of Rollin Smoke’s accomplishments over the years.

The moment you walk through the door of any of their three Las Vegas locations, you are met with genuine Southern hospitality. The meats are smoked with Hickory wood and prepared with the “low and slow” process, and you can taste the love and effort put into the mouthwatering meats at Rollin Smoke. Some of the most famous dishes at the restaurant include the Fried Catfish, Beef Ribs, and Smoked Meatloaf. The diverse menu and homemade sauces cover a range of palates, especially the BBQ craving ones.

portion of the proceeds go to “Critical Care Comics,” an incredible group that dresses up as comic book characters and reads to sick children. They also enjoy participating in Pigs for Kids charity cook-off and the Best Dam BBQ in Boulder City. They donate to a plethora of organizations throughout the city and continue to look for more opportunities to give back.

HAVE THEY DIGRESSED TO A FORM OF NAZI COMMUNICATION WITH OUR LAS VEGAS HOMEOWNERS?

Almost everyone in eyeshot of this article has lived, or is currently living, in an HOA. To accurately breakdown the reference of “Nazi Communication,” Websters defines it as, “Derogatory term for a person who is fanatically dedicated to, or seeks to control, some activity, practice, etc.” I would say the adjective used, fits well.

I come from a family who first came to Las Vegas in the 1940’s. My parents, siblings, cousins, spouses, and their children are real estate lawyers, small builders, and appraisers (with me being the only real estate licensee). We all are passionate about property ownership.

I was licensed in 1988 and I’ve grown alongside Las Vegas. I’ve become passionate about my clients, and all people, who invest into property to grow financially and spiritually to have a better life. I speak frequently to most of my past clients, following and inviting them to keep me updated with any issues that cause them discord.

The most common complaint I hear is about their HOA. I share with them my personal

experiences, with my HOA’s, and we all seem to have the same experiences. The HOA sends a letter notifying the homeowner of their issue(s) with them and gives them so much time to remedy, or they will be fined.

For example, I received a notice that my tree in the front yard was dead. The tree was about 15 years old. I stepped outside, took video of my leaves blowing in the wind, and sent it to the HOA. She argued with me, “We told you about this and you didn’t listen, so we are fining you $100 per week until you cut the tree down.” I could feel the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

Another HOA tried to fine my client $8000 for garbage cans (these were exactly where they instructed the owner to place them), for domestic fights in the front yard, and racing automobiles down the street. The neighbor had turned in a multitude of complaints, but when she sat with the board, there was not one piece of evidence that any of this occurred. She had never heard about any of this. When the president, sitting in a forward position looking her dead in the eye as an attempt at intimidation, she replied, “Don’t you think I would know if this was happening at my house? Why are you fining me?”

The president said, “Well the neighbor reported this, and we would run down to where this was reported. This took so much time. We are going to fine you $4000 for the trouble.” She simply said, “OK. I am selling my home, and I am suing the HOA for harassment and forcing me from my home.” Within 15 minutes of her departure, they emailed her and said, “We dropped all the fines.” That issue took 1.5 years, and she sold her house to escape the false accusations.

The problem isn’t the litany of items that trigger a complaint from the HOA. The problem is the absolute disrespect, lack of true care or concern, for their homeowners. To be approached and feel threatened is not conducive to a harmonious HOA Leadership. In fact, there is NO leadership. Therein lies the rub.

Just because you are on a board, you are not given power or authority over anyone. Your job is to keep track of your specific duties. You must invite, inspire, and motivate your community to fulfill whatever you need from them. To bully, intimidate, or threaten will only leave a community of absolute resentment towards that HOA. How is that working for you?

I personally have trained through 5 different leadership programs, getting my coaching certification, since 2004. My purpose was to learn how to communicate with others in a healthy and inspirational way. We should require that ALL members of the board go through team building and leadership.

Rather than continuously focusing on the problem, we need to focus on solutions. Here are suggestions for a highly functional system that HOA’s must subscribe to:

1. Leadership course

2. Elections-Voter integrity - find volunteer vote counters

3. Limits on fines

4. In leadership training, they need to complete at least 3 experiential training programs, and a leadership coaching program to teach value-based communication.

What would happen if we had our HOA’s required to learn how to communicate with their community in a healthy and positive way? Where we felt an invitational and supportive spirit when they need a homeowner to take care of something? Grapple with that for a minute and let’s get to changing our Nazi forms of communication to a harmonious community, led by aware individuals. MV

THE TIME IS NOW Report says the best time to buy a home may be now

What is the best time of year to buy a home here in Southern Nevada? As a longtime local REALTOR®, I get that question all the time.

The short answer, according to a national report released last month by Realtor.com, is that the time is now.

Nationally, the report found that the best time to buy a home is generally during the week of Sept. 29 through Oct. 5, with the following two weeks being almost as favorable.

In Southern Nevada, the report found that the ideal time to buy is a week later, from Oct. 6 to 12.

So, why is this time of year a good time to buy? According to the report, “this week historically has shown the best balance of market conditions that favor buyers. Inventory tends to be high, prices are below peak levels, demand is waning, and the pace of the market slows to a more manageable speed.”

This seasonal slowdown is driven at least in part by school schedules and weather, the report explained. Housing market activity tends to warm up each spring and peak in summer months, as families planning to move while children are out of school try to buy a home with enough time to get settled before school resumes.

The Realtor.com report pointed out that 2024 has been a “relatively slow” year for home sales, as home prices have reached record highs around the country and elevated mortgage rates limited buyer demand.

However, this fall is expected to bring lower mortgage interest rates and more homes available for sale.

“This year’s housing market has continued to slow relative to the past few years, a welcome shift for buyers as the season quickly approaches the best time to buy,” the report stated. “Time on the market has started to approach the pre-pandemic pace, but homes still tend to spend about a week less on the market than was typical in 2017–19.

The slower market pace, more for-sale listings, and less competition all point to the best time to buy a home this year during the week of Sept. 29–Oct. 5. With all of the challenges facing buyers as the housing market continues its journey to a healthy condition, this week boasts the culmination of market factors that favor buying over every other week of the year.”

Other highlights from the Realtor.com report included:

• The number of homes listed for sale nationwide has increased significantly compared with last year, but it is still much lower than before the pandemic.

• Based on historical trends, the first week in October might see up to 37% more active listings than during the start of the year.

• Buyers are poised to save more than $14,000 during this timeframe compared with the summer peak.

• Buying after the peak week might net a buyer more savings on the price of a home, but buying earlier is likely to offer more housing options.

• Potentially lower mortgage interest rates could also affect how much it costs to buy a home this fall.

• “Home shoppers should get familiar with the market and their priorities as soon as possible to capitalize on what is important to them,” the report advised.

One of my earliest memories is of my mom waking me up with her wrist cut. That moment left a mark on me that I carried for years. My parents were both drug addicts, and my childhood was chaotic. We moved more than 50 times, and my mom was constantly in and out of relationships, trying to navigate her own struggles. My siblings and I ended up in the foster care system more than once. I promised myself I would never become like my mom, but as I grew older, I found myself seeking acceptance and love in all the wrong places.

By the time I was 12, I had my first encounter with meth. That was also the age I went to juvenile detention for the first time. From then on, I was in and out of the system, trying to fill a void I didn’t even understand. My teenage years and early adulthood were a blur of abusive relationships, drugs, and clubbing. I spiraled deeper into heroin, meth, cocaine, pills, and alcohol. I even started soliciting my body because someone I thought loved me convinced me that’s what love looked like.

At my lowest point, I was raped and beaten, screaming for my attacker to kill me just to end the pain. My mind flashed to my daughter during those moments, but I still felt so lost. I didn’t believe in God or Jesus; I thought the Bible was a man-made lie. I was confused about life and about myself. I tried to numb my pain—cutting, overdosing, and doing whatever I could to escape the weight of my despair. Over time, I lost all three of my kids to CPS. One by one, they were taken from me, and I accepted it as my fate.

I went from making $30,000 a month in highrise apartments to being evicted from weekly motels, completely consumed by addiction. By September 2021, at 35 years old, I was in Florida, still unwilling to change. That’s when I met a Lyft driver named Alejandro. He barely spoke English, but when he asked if I wanted to “party,” I jumped at the chance. We were smoking and drinking at 3 a.m., aimlessly driving around, when he suddenly started crying. Through his tears, he said in perfect English, “God said you’ve disconnected from Him. It’s time to reconnect. He’s giving you one or two more days to party, but after that, no more.”

I was stunned. Alejandro, a stranger who barely spoke my language, delivered a message I couldn’t ignore. Something stirred in my heart, though I didn’t fully understand it yet. I agreed, thinking I’d just keep using for a couple more days. The next morning, my sister-in-law told me we needed to talk. I cut her off, saying, “I’ve accepted I’ll die a drug addict. I’ll never get my kids back. Nothing will ever change.” She paused, tears in her eyes, and said, “Dominique, I don’t think you’re done fighting. I know you’re not.” Her words planted another seed in my heart.

The following day, I stole money to get high. Afterward, as I lay on a black leather couch staring at the ceiling, I heard the voice of God for the first time. He said, “Baby girl, you can have that all day long, and I will still love you. But you can’t sit here and tell me you didn’t feel my love.” In that moment, something heavy lifted from me. I flushed my drugs—something I had never done in 17 years of addiction. That wasn’t my strength; it was God’s love giving me the power to let go.

I surrendered my life to Jesus and everything began to change. A month later, God told me to go back to Vegas to get my kids. By December 2021, I had my daughter back. I got a job as a medical assistant without any formal schooling. God provided me with my own apartment. By January 2022, my son returned to my life, and I became an ordained evangelist and worship leader. God placed me on stages to share my testimony and bring hope to others.

In August 2024, I gained full custody of my son. I now work as a board operator at KKVV 1060 AM, a Christian radio station, where I host my own show, “Keepers of the Flame.” God has restored every broken relationship in my life and continues to open doors I never thought possible. God has just gotten started and has already blown my mindandhe does it over and over and over again! When the world says, “you can’t,” God says, “I will.” He qualifies the unqualified and makes a way where there is none. I’m living proof. So, keep going. Walk by faith, not by sight. Has Modern Medical Science Proven That There Is Life After Death?

Pam Reynolds, a musician and producer in the recording industry, had suddenly forgotten how to talk while out of town promoting a record. An MRI revealed a brain aneurysm requiring a highly dangerous radical experimental surgery. Her body was cooled to 50 degrees and her head was drained of its blood. Her eyes were taped shut and her ears had speakers implanted that emitted 100 decibel clicks to monitor her brain stem activity. Her entire body was covered except for the head area they were operating on. Pam had no heartbeat and no brain wave activity. She was clinically dead. Her surgeon stated it would have been impossible for Pam to be able to hear or see anything. Yet Pam “popped” out of her body, looked down on the surgery, and described conversations between surgeons she had never met, and described rare medical devices in the operating room she had never seen. After observing her operation, she was drawn to a point of light. She recognized deceased relatives- some

distant that she didn’t know had passedand learned that God is a being of light that “exists and permeates everything.” She survived clinical death and her astonished surgeons have verified all her operating room conversations and observations.

Thousands of cases similar to Pam’s convinced former engineer, current Pastor, and best-selling author John Burke that modern medicine has established proof of life after death. 30 years ago, while working as an engineer, he began researching near-death experiences, known commonly as NDEs, when his father was dying of cancer. A friend of his dying father had given him a book written by Dr. Raymond Moody called Life After Life, one of the first books written about NDEs. Pastor Burke read the book in one night. He continued his research, leading him to believe in God and subsequently leave his engineering career and become a pastor. He has authored multiple best selling books on near-death experiences. believes that NDEs are “God’s gift to us, providing even more evidence from around the world of God’s reality, identity, and great love for all people.”

An overwhelming majority reported that they encountered a loving being of light they recognized as God. These clinical case studies led John Burke, an agnostic, to wonder if these NDEs were proof of God being real.

Like many of us, the idea of blind faith or “feeling it in your heart” was not enough for John Burke to start believing in God. As an engineer and self-described cynical skeptic, he needed evidential reasons to believe outside of religion.

John started his research with the eye of an engineer and skeptic, thinking that such experiences were wishful thinking or hallucinations caused by the effects of drugs, anesthesia, or possibly a chemical process the mind creates to help a person cope as they pass. But, three decades of research revealed that millions of people have had NDEs with thousands of documented case reports, most all case reports completed by doctors and other scientists. Note, that almost every doctor started as a skeptic but was convinced by the incredible evidence. A FORCE FOR CHANGE

When Staci Maione learned the severity and depth of human trafficking that runs through the moral fabric of the country, she realized something had to be done to create a solution. She realized that this issue touches the youngest people in our society.

Agape Rescues Children, otherwise known as ARC, founded by Staci Maione, harbors a grand vision - to establish holistic healing homes and aftercare facilities for children rescued from the clutches of trafficking. Maione’s journey began with a stark realization: the vulnerability of our society’s youth to the horrors of trafficking. “I discovered a vast number of young children are kidnapped or sold into trafficking, often at birth,” Maione revealed. “With all the research that I’ve done, I discovered there was a huge void in what happened to them after they were rescued. I wanted to create places for the young children to call home if they couldn’t go back to their families.”

While Staci’s final visions for ARC are massive projects, in the meantime, she knows the importance of starting on a grassroots level. She adds, “I believe education is key to spotting and ending child trafficking.” She began engaging with County commissioners’ meetings, getting involved with local politics, and more. Collaborating with her friend Susan Ross, Staci developed an educational manual an ARC educational manual, which teaches the signs to look for, how predators lure children, the grooming process, etc. Staci explains, “I basically teach people, ‘If you see something say something! This is what to look for’ It could save a child’s life.”

From schools to nail salons, Maione takes her message wherever ears are open. Yet, she adds, “My ultimate goal with the educational manual is to get it into schools. Teaching kids to look out for one another…,” expressing that education is key.

As she continues to find ways to make change, Maione joined forces with Tara Sheahan. Tara is the founder of Breathelab, the founder of Oniya, and is building the first healing center for ARC to help children. This powerful duo, as well as other compassionate souls, joined to create Ameliorate Your Life, a holistic healing company that provides techniques and tools for an inspired existence. “We’ve consolidated various healing practices onto one platform,” Maione explains. These healing classes include breath classes, yoga, meditation, nutrition, gardening and connecting with nature, all in the privacy of your own home. The best part? Staci says, “Proceeds from Ameliorate helps ARC, ultimately you’re helping to heal and finding your power, while you’re helping the children of ARC.”

Staci envisions the connection between ARC and Ameliorate, adding, “We want to create these healing homes to be based on Ameliorate.” A sanctuary where rescued children can get their heads strong and begin working at their holistic modalities.

While ARC’s monumental projects take shape behind the scenes, Maione’s vision remains her ultimate intention. She adds, “I’ve always believed we can do something to help humanity and people that are struggling… we all go through difficult times in life.” By creating initiatives and envisioning projects like hers, Staci is well on her way to making a real difference in the lives of children and people everywhere.

SUCCESS & SURVIVAL

Sandy Wolff is a champion of survival and has proven that even pancreatic cancer can be beaten.

“You build your house of cards, carefully placing one card upon another hoping that the base is significant enough to withstand the toppling of the tiers.  If a card weakens or distresses or merely gives way for no apparent reason, the cards come tumbling down. No matter how you plan, when something tumbles or gives way it takes on a life of its own,” says Sandy.

This is how Sandy Wolff felt in January of 2023 when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  You see, the pancreatic diagnosis was Sandy’s 4th cancer diagnosis.  She had already survived bile duct cancer, uterine cancer, and colon cancer over the course of 20 years.

Although the news was bleak, Sandy did not give up.  She believes, “It is up to us to determine the fate of the story.”  She did her best to navigate through the next steps, even though several institutions denied treatment.  Those that know Sandy will agree that she is just not a quitter.

By February, Sandy was admitted into a clinical trial at UCLA under the direction

of Dr. Zev Wainberg.  She received 5 types of chemotherapy in combination with immunotherapy, for a total of 6 months.  Dr. Wainberg’s protocol was an aggressive treatment designed to shrink the tumor in Sandy’s pancreas so that it would then be operable. At this time, the only known cure for pancreatic cancer is removal of the tumor. Sandy not only had great physicians, but long-time friends and an employer who made the schedule possible.

Working for Fletcher Jones, a small family-owned business, made it possible for Sandy to have a flexible work schedule during the height of her illness.  And a longtime friend, Johnny Ribeiro, owner of Quail Air Center, provided many of the flights to

UCLA. The aggressive therapy took its toll and Sandy saw notable physical therapist, Scott Pensivy of Prism PT to help her through the grueling process of rehabilitation. She also incorporated IV therapy into her regiment so she didn’t get too dehydrated during treatment.  Her well-being was literally treated day to day depending on how her system was reacting to the chemo and immunotherapy.  The clinical trial regiment was completed in June of 2023 and Sandy was scheduled for the Whipple surgery at UCLA.

In July of 2023, Dr. Timothy Donahue of UCLA performed a successful Whipple surgery replacing the artery and vein in Sandy’s pancreas with veins from her legs as well as removing the tumor.  Wolff was allowed to return to Las Vegas under the care of Oncologist, Dr. Karen Jacks of Comprehensive Cancer Centers, and her two daughters, Kristine Creel (Allan) and Dr. Shannon Michelson (Andy) after remaining in the hospital for 12 days.

“Major success is all too rare to be taken lightly,” says Sandy, grateful and surrounded by loving family members.

At 66, Wolff is now a 4-time cancer survivor, as she officially went into remission in November of 2023.  Sandy celebrated with her 4 grandchildren Cash and Allyn Marie Creel, and William and Charles Michelson.

According to Wolff, she is optimistic and follows her doctor’s orders to the letter.  It is her determined attitude and willingness to take on life that has led to her success, whether she is hiking in the Redrocks, skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains, selling a Mercedes Benz or surviving cancer. Hello Loren,

I have a 2011 Honda Odyssey. It has a 6-cylinder engine. I have failed smog multiple times for Codes P0301-P0306 and P0300. I have had numerous repairs performed at a cost of over $3000. A new computer, spark plugs, and coils. All 6 injectors. The timing components were replaced a few months ago. I have 120k on it. My vehicle runs great! It just will not pass smog. Compression is over 180 psi on all 6 cylinders. I change my oil every 4 months with full synthetic. Do you have any suggestions?

I am not sure of what types of shops you are entrusting. These Honda V-6 engines are valve lash sensitive. When the engine is cold, the valve train contracts. The valves actually sink into the valve seats. The misfires are not harsh enough to feel, but the vehicle’s computer is sophisticated enough to detect them. At 120k, a valve adjustment should have been suggested multiple times if your repair shop is familiar with Honda engines. I hope this helps.

Autism, a developmental disorder impacting communication, social interaction, and behavior, continues to rise in prevalence nationwide. In the United States, approximately 1 in 54 children are diagnosed with autism. Nevada faces its own challenges, with a prevalence of 1 in 58 children—slightly above the national average—marking a significant increase over the past decade.

In response to these challenges, Autism Cares, a Las Vegas-based nonprofit, is making strides to support autistic teens, adults, and their families. Founded by visionary Harry Singh, Autism Cares embraces the core values of connection, collaboration, community, and communication to empower the autistic community and bridge existing service gaps.
