I would like to use architecture to create bonds between people who live in cities, and even use it to recover the communities that used to exist in every single city. Toyo Ito
Mzukisi Qunta Professional Draughtsman (AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor Solid Works, 2D & 3D mzukisi.qunta@gmail.com Technical Design) 073 622 0610 /mzukisi.moose.qunta SAID Registered Overbaakens, Port Elizabeth @mzukisiqunta @mzukisiq INTRODUCTION “If one’s understanding of a design language is limited then the range of possible solutions to a problem will also be limited” For this reason, I believe that all design begins with thorough research and a complete understanding of the challenge put forward. This belief applies to my technical understanding of Civil and Architectural design. I have been able to successfully work projects from the office through to construction and back again, with determination, dependable leadership and sound knowledge. I am a goal oriented individual who is self-motivated and also a consistent performer. I will bring these values, motivation and skills to your company. I had the privilege of being exposed to different challenges in design and usage of software. I am a more technically orientated designer, experienced in large scale and detail designs. I enjoy investing time in humanitarian pursuits, it is from these activities that I gain light on issues which are beyond my field. I am a very social person and I use my technical skills in business and design to expand my greater networking base and building lasting relationships.

I have worked within Graphic design marketing department and Infrastructure and Development department. I have done architecture and civil design and gained understanding how all of these relate to each other. Due to my experience which I have with technology, I have the ability to learn different programs very quickly. I also have an understanding how design and georeferencing programs can be used together. I enjoy learning new programs and systems that test my abilities.

CTU Training Solutions College Fire Evacuation Plan 3rd avenue Newton Park, Port Elizabeth The design brief was fairly simple. I had to take the existing drawings and design the optimal route for evacuation and show where the emergency equipment are placed. I insured that my design was simple and user friendly. To insure that all can use it.
1st Floor Office area Ground Floor
Bench Vice Assembly The design brief was to assemble a parts list into the given bench vice. As this is not one of my strong points I tried to make sure that the drawing is simple and descriptive.
Revit Project Newton Park, Port Elizabeth For this assignment one must design a residential building which is designed upon 3 separate floors. This is a basement, 1st floor and 2nd floor. The basement floor must be occupied as a garage, with the other floors used as living space.
Family Profile This home is purpose built for a wealthy family which enjoys not only showing it off but making statement in every way. They have a deep understanding of their heritage and where they come from. This is an old Irish family that has a heritage dating back to the 1830 settlers. Roman Catholic Family This is the family members of the O’Leary family
Father 45 years old Mr O’Leary Microbiology graduate who works for O’Leary Beers, as a senior board member. Like any true Irishman he enjoys playing golf and spends a great many hours brewing and experimenting different formulas. He is an introvert who loves his family yet still enjoys his time in isolation. His favourite colours are green and he enjoys a very wood based designs that incorporate his heritage and images of home. He wants a modern house that is practical and simple.
Mother 40 years old Mrs O’Leary is Afrikaans and has grown up in an old farm house which had a very rustic design to it. She enjoys hosting people and providing entertainment for charity events. She is a skilled cook who enjoys spending time with her extended family. Her hobbies include regular training, hiking, making wine and scrape books. She is a social which invites people into her home just to show it off and enjoys personalised pieces of art that bring the landscape of the land into her home. She wants a house that is modern yet shows a appreciation of the rustic iron monger that she grew up with.
Daughter 18 years Miss O’Leary is a first year Architectural student at the local university. She still stays at home with the family, as they are all still very close. She is active in sports and enjoys a very outdoor life. She is looking to carve out her own life and the space which is hers should be intelligent and intellectually stimulating. She enjoys nature and a traditional house with modern technology applied. Her favourite colour is green.
Son 16 years Mr O’Leary is in his final years of high school and is a firm believer in family tradition. Like his father he is graduating from school a year ahead of time with distinction and is an avid scholar. He wishes to do a career which will allow him to work in the family business. Like his father is has a quiet nature. With his father he enjoys brewing his own boutique beer. He enjoys simplistic modern design and he has a great passion for reading. Also his favourite colour is orange.

Newton Park, Port Elizabeth Like any project on a free standing site. I first insured I used the opportunity to dictate my North facing space and where my services will be placed. I tried to have a healthy mix of both modern and traditional design. Each floor had a been zoned specifically for the needs of the family. I decided that the basement can be optimised to do more than just be a car and workshop area.

Spatial Requirements
Malabar Modern House This project is for a client who has a family of four and is looking for a modern interior to suit the design of his house. The design had to express light, and feel “organic”.
Challenges The first point I observed is that the family is relatively short with the tallest person being 163cm tall. The family is from India thus they preferred a compact interior and this was also a challenge in creating a “orgainic” feel.
Client Profile The client is a family of 2 children and a wife. Who want their kitchen, lounge and dining room. They are Indian and are still very traditional in their culture

Public Ground floor Lounge Kitchen Dining room
Precedents Studies These are just samples of what type of character we wanted the cabinets to have. Understanding that the space we are working with is small, fold out cupboards were preferred.

CAD Final year project 2014 Newton Park, Port Elizabeth This project is for a client who wants to have her own space. The existing building is 21spm single garage. The site is larger and can still be used for construction and the clients wants a 1st floor addition.
Spatial Requirements Private
Ground floor
Lounge
Challenges This project brings about a few challenges, namely can you use the existing building and just add a floor above it? Are the walls and foundation structurally capable of handling the extra load? What is the orientation of the existing building and does that meet needs? How can safety of the client be increased.
Client Profile The client is Nicky Daniels. She is the branch manager at the CTU College and works a 8-5 job. She is has 3 dogs, a tortoise and a parrot in a cage. Nicky wants a rustic feel to the loft apartment and she wants to feel safe. Due to space limitations I understood that functionality is more important than specific design. I focused more on being accurate in my space use than getting a certain aesthetic appeal.
