MZURIBEADS Art & Design Competition
An ethical bead company working with village artisans
ABOUT Mzuribeads was founded by two Scottish volunteers and a cooperative of bead makers in Uganda, with the aim to develop a self sufficient and sustainable business model. Since 2006 we have been perfecting a range of handmade beads from ethically sourced materials, such as recycled paper, barkcloth, banana leaf and glass. Our fabulous colours and unique textures have been inspiring designers and turning heads worldwide. To mark the new year we are calling on creatives from any background to take our innovative beauties beyond the bead store - into a wider world of stylish fashion, furniture, sculpture, jewellery, painting, architecture, photography, and more...
Mzuribeads Art and Design Competition Mzuribeads are offering the chance for an artist or designer to submit a proposal for a piece which incorporates our beads entirely or even partially. No limitations apply, the piece can be site specific, virtual, long term, etc. What are the judges looking for? What matters is the creative, imaginative and original use of the beads to produce a truly distinctive piece of work – work that exploits the enormous potential of our beads to communicate difference and individuality. The winner(s) will be selected by a small panel of judges, and all materials to create the piece will be funded by Mzuribeads. All enquiries to info@mzuribeads.com
