National Museum of Qatar

The use of oscillation designs can be seen throughout the design plan of the Qatar museum. The use of the design gives the illusion of the room being bigger than it actually is, which also sets the theme building design.

A contour line is a line drawn on a topographic map to indicate ground elevation or depression. A contour interval is the vertical distance or difference in elevation between contour lines. Index contours are bold or thicker lines that appear at every fifth contour line.

I drew a sketch of several contour lines that would give an approximation of what the shape would look like then I tried to make it 3d to create a parametric frame.

I started of with a basic sine wave to give an approximation of what it would look like. Then I filled in the gaps and created the sine wave as a parametric feature.

I wanted this feature to be used a wall or roof design in an in interior or exterior spaceof a building. I have seen this sort of design on walls and spaces of a building.

Using the previous slide, I chose to study the Walt Disney Concert Hall because it has a lot of curving and free flowing forms that work together well. The Architects inspiration for this building was the sail that flows in the wind on boats.

My purpose of studying this was due to the free-flowing forms that the building has making it a site that has a lot of organic design through the buildingsstructure.

The Marques de rascal has a lot of inspiration due to the blending of the elements that curve together to create the entrance The Architect refers to the colours of the building as colours of wine due to the titanium pink panels and the gold in the building emphasis the Marques bottles.

Furthermore the overlapping element of the design creates a building that stands out by itself in the environment My reason for studying this building was for the flowing and curved forms of the architecture.

Anthony Gibbon uses sustainable materials arranged in simple and geometrical shapes to bring his astonishing visions to life, challenging what we thought we knew about architecture. His ability to innovate while marrying nature, individuality and function is truly what makes his work one of a kind.

Basic Form Sketches

I want to develop my understandingof this buildingand similar structure and be able to learn and develop them into my ideas.

• Using my previous idea I used a paper model to highlighted the contemporary part that I found that I could expand with and used it to a rough sketch of my ideas using random papers and wires.

• Using cardboard and foam I created my sketch u model on a smaller scale to be able to see to understand the people to buildingratio. I use little plastic mannequin to be able to size my buildingproperly.
