PROJECT 1

MICTLAND RESTAURANT & BAR RESORT LOCATION: PUNTA MITA, MEXICO The restaurant & bar at the Punta Mita resort in the Tequila fabrication district began with incorporation of the process of making of tequila from the agave plant. The inspiration came from this image of a worker preparing the agave plant which led the concept and material were chosen to represent the natural elements such as the soil and leaves of the agave plant.

PROJECT 4

FURNITURE DESIGN & MANUFACTURING LOCATION: ST.CLAIR COLLEGE OF APPLIED ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY Challenge was to design a nightstand or beside table, a small table typically on both or one side of a bed that’s used typically to support items that might be useful at night. Some examples of this are table lamps, alarm clock, reading material, phone, eyeglasses, drink or medication. My design was based on a table that could hold prescription eye ware. Design had to include: My main design challenge was to design a nightstand that was specifically for eyeglasses using wood, bungee cable and steel rod.

MATERIALS Birch plywood 3/4” @ 4’-0” x8’-0“ Bungee cable 1’-0” length Steel rod at ¼ diameter

CNC MANUFACTURING The CNC process began with imputing the AutoCAD file into Vcarve to program the cut and depths that were required to be cut from the plywood. The material was then laid onto the cutting surface and in less then an hour the machine was complete with the required cuts. From the finished cuts all that was left to do was to remove the tabs that were added in the programing stage on Vcarve to retain the interior cuts attached to the material.

ASSEMBLY The assembly process began with removing the pieces out of the 4’ x 8’ sheet of plywood once the CNC machine finished cutting. Then all the pieces were sanded, and all sharp corners were rounded out to create a cleaner finish. The metal rods were installed along with the bungee cable to hold the eyeglasses. Last step was to glue all the finish surfaces on the exterior and were left to set with clamps.

FINAL PRODUCT The bungee cable seen along the top of the table is to meet the needs of suspending eye wear glasses and have allowed them to be displayed in an upright position. This was considered in the design process to allow for the first table surface to be fully available to other items such as table lamps, watches and loose items.

The logo and branding of the Lateral side table was directly influenced by the shape of the table. Including the name of the table and retaining the shape of the physical piece was the most important consideration for the logo. Though creating a personal text font within the restrictions while naturally creating rhythm though the spacing of text.

PROJECT 5

RESIDENTIAL CONJUNTO COMPLEX LOCATION: 700 WELLINGTON, WINDSOR The concept for Conjunto Complex was derived from the word “Conjunto” which translated from Spanish refers to the joining of something and to be combined. In Latin America, many new residential development projects are known under the term “Conjunto”, this typically describes a combination of residences with some commercial aspect. In most cases these are independent gated communities that are directly attached to a mall or in the case of apartments above a commercial foundation. These compound developments meet the needs of the residence living inside them, many have communal stores, work rooms, pools and gyms. The residential portion of the complex will feature 3 styles of prefabricated dwelling's, these are to meet the needs of single individuals, 2-4 persons and 4-6 persons.
