WADI CITY FROM THREAT TO RESOURCE ‫ين‬ ‫الودن‬ ‫ب ي‬ Group Design studio V Prof. Cornelia Redecker

The project started by studing the area of wadi khrouba the different levels and the surronding context , ,the area between Wadi Kharouba and Wadi Raml was the location for our project to build a self sustainable city that includes all different cultural patters of people from bedouins who are already sprawling towards the desert living on the cultivation of the wadi and the local matrouh residents who are moving and expanding towards more facilities and services and lastly the tourists that are visiting the beautiful .Marsa Matrouh The city planning started by creating the different layers of infrastucture , open spaces , buildings including the landscape through all these layers and making use of the topography to create a city that has a strong identity and can not be built anywhere else but in this area. We had to understand people needs first and applying these ideas into a sustainable built environment that can accomadate the users and another focal point was the water topic , how the city will have enough supply of water this was done by depending not only on the desilination plants that uses sea water but also the rainfall by creating methods that collects rainwater and makes a use of it for agricultural uses or any other use , in adddition to the use of the ground water that goes through a purification .system due to salts in the soil The building materials of the city was depending on local materials found there mainly limestone , Kharsheef and other local materials .To make sure that locals and bedouins will be moving into our city we offered them adequete infrastructure , leisure social space , mega projects to offer them jobs and social housing unit and not depending on the closed community housing and with a public-pri.vate spaces that ensure the interaction and the privacy each need Keeping a small walkable , adequtly shaded alleys and walkaways was an important theme through our whole project to try as much as possible reduce the arid climate effect and ensure the promande through a small distances between services using a 350 meter radius that provides shade. Lastly the emebankments we made sure to fully utilize them either in commercial , social and leisure , uses while keeping the shaded and visually connected to the wadi

Individual Design studio V

Prof. Cornelia Redecker

The project centrally lies between the both wadis Wadi Kharouba and Wadi Al Raml on the embankments and their upper planes making it a strategic location to integrate the different cultural patterns present in the city. According to the analysis using the layer model the people layer defined the 3 different users that are present ; The bedouins the main inhabitants of the city , the moving in matrouh local inhabitants and lastly the tourists either local or international. Each of these different users having a cultural pattern and housing typologies surronding the park The main idea of the project is making use of the existing topography creating different views and connections to the city and having light weight structures for the services with transversal connections allows the flow and circulation in the park .North is mainly serving the matrouh residents with kids areas and recreational spaces for people to interact and have a strong social capital. South west is the faculty of Agriculture which serves the students with workshops that is with direct contact to the wadi to enhance the learning experience and a better understanding of the cultivation process of the bedouins. While the South east lies the Rehabilitation center that is making use of the embankments as a natural and open native plants exhibition with medical plants which enhances the therapeutic experience of the users preserving the ecological balance and the rich natural resources of matrouh , also having a direct relation with ecolodge increases the tourists presence in the area Finally these three different patterns is connected to the upper plan to a cultural center that connects the bedouins , matrouh residents and tourists in one open space having a confluence and collaboration between the different cultural patterns. The park is not just a recreational space but also an eco-productive park that preserves the character of the agricultural landscape of matrouh

SHARM EL SHEIKH BIOPHILIC SPINE Individual Design studio VI Prof. Cornelia Redecker

The project aim was to designa a street in Sharm El Sheikh that will be closed into a pedestran street .El Salam street which is parallel to the coastline that has the mountain at the start of the street , a commercial buildings in the center and a conference center at the end. A site visit was coonducted to analyze the site closely and develop a deep understanding to the project context. The first phase of the project was site analysis studying the different layers of the street from people , landscape to the existing buildings and how to create a sustainable cycle of metabolism and fitting into existing context using local materials. The design intention of the street was to create a spine that always allow the contact with outside nature using exisitng natural elements and topography to create a promonade full of activities that tourists and locals can participate in. The fist part was inspired by the existing topography lines to create a recreational space with local plants for shade , second part was the event space that leads up to mountains and third was resembling an outside oasis infront of exisitng resorts as a gathering space for them and the final part was inspired by the grid of the exisitng to create a space that has activities such as chess game and outdoor games for users to enjoy their time outside and light structures as food court.

ASWAN COLLEGE Village of the voids Individual Bachelor Project Prof. Dunja Karcher

A site visit took place in order to be able to analyze the site clearly and to get in contact with the surrondings of the site. Deeper analysis of the site took place as studing the street hierarchy, landuse of surronding buildings, street directions which affected many design decisions later on in the design , public and private spaces , green areas, materials found in the site , according to this observations the design circulation , zoning and other aspects were considered. The college design aim is to welcome both locals and vistors and introduce them to patterns of culture of beautiful Aswan by letting both users to interact together in a well designed environment as well as the interaction the present nature. Vernacular architecture was used in the design by keeping the use of the local materials and knowledge of construction while keeping the modern functionality , Aswan is rich in raw materials that could be used in the design. Having an inside outside relationship throughout the building circulation was a major point which means that the locals are not locked up inside the building but they get to interact with the environment in the form of open spaces with some facilities that serves both users and having an interesting promanade through different functions from public spaces more private on and represent the importance of these crafts throughout the whole journey using their senses.

PORT SAID IDENTITY REVITILIZATION Individual Design studio V Prof. Dunja Karcher

The project is about revitalising the un noticible identity of Port Said forming a strategy , generating a masterplan to a specific zone then moving into a more zoomed in scale to architecture of one building The masterplan was divided into three different zones which are ports local markets and cultural aspects, each zone is from a distance to each other in order to activite the whole city and encourage the local users to revitalize the identity by showing off their own work Zone one was the waterfront zone of Suez canal to reflect the identity of the cultural aspect they have by designing a museum for muscial events and the Semsemya which is a very wel known local muscial instrument in Port Said and to revive the landmarks there and the improve the skyline. Zone two was next to Manzalah lake designign a port there with a camping site to encourage users to resstore the lake. Zone three was reviving and renewing the central commercial area of the city which is the local markets by developing it and creating an educational spine as a long term effect impacting the local users.

INTERSTICE HOUSING PROJECT GROUP OF 4 Design studio IV Prof. WAFAA NADIM

The project aim was building an autonomous, livable , inclusive , futuristic , equitable housing units in third settlement , New cairo , Egypt. The concept of the project started from one element which is the lines that we used to form a collage with that takles the emotional state of people with imairement not only the physical state. The outcome of the collage was a crack and the form went through various transformations till we reached the final form that is evident in the plan and elevation The elevation cracks are also demonstrated through the windows and terraces to allow light and ventillation. We applied the concept also on then site plan using the greenery and levels to create public open spaces to increase the social capital between the users of the units and creating a quality to the urban space. Our aim was mailny to bridge the gap that the people with impairment have due to inacessability and giving spaces to increase their social capital and to communicate with each other.

NEW CAPITAL EXHIBITION FOR E-CARS Group of 4 Design studio VI Prof. Thomas Loeffler

The integrated project combining both the construction knowledge with the design in one project aim was to design a technology center for E-cars in the New capital in New Caiiro , Egypt. Where there’s space for the cars to be exhibited and get a full experience of the E-cars. The concept of the project was inspired from the form of the car as a basic start and to emphasise the speed and the motion. The challenge was the 45 meter cantilever facing the street to be stable without affecting the form. The building is divided into two parts tsicking to the ground is mainly for the services of the users , while the cantilever is the car exhibition with different levels of platforms for users to circulate with a promande and creating a journey inside the exbhition. The car track takes the users the seats that is on different levels ( topography) to have different views to the track and the green river that to be constructed in the New capital. The building is full of technological aspects to save energy and become more sustainable , the elevation is extruded for shading and thermal comformt of the spacees.

MANHATTAN NEW YORK VIA 57 MODELLING Group of 3 CadCam III Prof. Mohamed Rafaat

TThe project Via 57 West was modelled using Rhino and rendered using the plug in V-ray for Rhino. The building is the first project designed in North America by Danish Architecture firm “BIG-Bjarak Ingles Group’. It is considered as anchor of 57 west residential block , as the design is considered a unique combination between European perimeter block and traditional Manhattan highrise consisting of 709 residences , majority with terracies and balconies. The centerpiece of VIA57 WEST unique design is the VIA garden that opens to the Hudson river. The courtyard is a private space for residents but still maintaing visual connection to the outside. The main concept is expanding views and bringing the low westren sun deeply into the block , acived by lifting the North East portion of the mass. The concept of the rendering was to create a cartoonish theme that represents the building in a unique way.

ROME , ITALY. TEMPIETTO MODELLING Individual Cad/Cam III Prof. Mohamed Rafaat

The project was reviving the historical architecture by modelling them into 3d using Rhino software. The model is the Tempietto ‘ San pietro’ ,Rome , Italy. Which is part of the Renaissance era which is a European architecture movement period between the early 14th and early 17th centuries, ‘Renaissance’ means re-birth , this movement marks a concious revival and development of certain elements in the Greek and Roman architecture. The Tempietto is a small temple marking the place of St. Peter’s martyrdorm , built by Donato Bramante in the courtyard of San Pietro church in Rome, Italy. Renaissance architects deployed classical features & pure geometric forms to create certain impression of symmetry , propotion and geomtry. Buildings used to feature rounded arches, domes , triangular pediments & classical columns , The building’s main parts are based on regular geomtric solids emphasizing the harmony of porportions , the simplicity of volume and use the doric order in columns. Inspired by ancient temples the Tempietto is both homage to antiquity & a christian memorial.

INTERIOR DESIGN 3D MAX RENDERING Individual Internships 3d Max renderings

The project was designing interior space inspired by a chosen architectural style by modelling them into 3D using 3d Max. The interior design was inspired from the classical style integrating it with a bit of modern style to combine two different tasks to the space. The space was divided into a living room with an open dining room next to it. The colors and the materials used were elegantly chosen to fit the style. The black color was the dominant color in the furniture mixing it with a touch of gold to resemble a classical style. A mirror was used to give the illusion of having a bigger space. Gold ornaments with the table were used to express the classical style. The tree standing is part of the interior design to introduce a fresh natural style to the space.
