Incubator Office Building & Transportation Hub
Given Requirements : Design an Incubator Office building attached to a transportation hub. Built-up Area: Max 3000 ,Total Area : Max 10000
Required Concept : Mobility & Transition
Given Sites : -Industrial Site -Agricultural Site
LOGISTICS INCUBATOR OFFICE BUILDING & TRA NSPORTATION HUB
Conceptual Studies : Theme : Mobility & Transition Modularity Pixelation
Theme Justification: -Mobility & Transition was the given Concept of the project. -The Pixelation theme gives the building the ability to add future extensions, without losing its identity. -Pixels represents the whole concept of the project Physically & Conceptually, which is “Similar individuals, with different characteristics, yet together they form a full image.”
Site Justifications: Chosen Site : Agricultural Site Since the office building is attached to a transportation hub so there is a great chance that the offices are mostly going to be working in the import & export business. Color Tags: Given Site
Agricultural area
Railway
Chosen Position in site
Building Orientation Justification The Building takes this specific orientation so it would take maximum Northern directed Spaces as well as the refreshing view of the blue Nile river and its green agricultural surroundings.
Nile
The agricultural Site would be a suitable choice because: 1-Agricultural products are mostly organic and needs speed in its exportations as well as imports of agricultural supplies and chemicals So by choosing to build the mentioned project in this site , will speed up the process. 2- The presence of the Nile River introduces the opportunity of national & international shipping
Concept Application Blocks of Volume 5x5x4H attached together introducing different experiences of lighting(natural & Artificial ) ,Solid & Void Variations. Allowing different types of clients (office renters) to have a variety of choices in there rented offices characteristics according to their needs. The Concept is to be applied on different layers (Model layer, Plans Layer, Elevations Layer, Details Layer)
Position Choice in Site Justification: -Reaching all possible kinds of transportation for the hub, as it is by the Nile as well as railway and two main streets. -Easy Accessibility This Concept application allows the engineer to choose from almost all kinds of structure systems(Steel,Column & Beam , etc..) I chose the column and beams system.

Libyan Environment I live in Egypt & I haven’t had the chance to visit Libya before, So I had to do some research on the Context & Climate “Libya’s climate is dominated by the hot, arid Sahara, but it is moderated along the coastal littoral by the Mediterranean Sea. The Saharan influence is stronger in summer. From October to March, prevailing westerly winds bring cyclonic storms and rains across northern Libya.” www.britannica.com

Theme : Video Games Theme Justification : Using video games Will introduce the opportunity of: *Motivational Quotes Depression Treatment + Self Support *Color Psychology Depression + Grey Scale Treatment
Meditation Park
*Informations Harbour Awareness + Introducing the harbour in a fun interesting way
Project : Components : ( Track– Tunnels –Meditation Points) Track : Colors of the track takes sequence of color therapy process 1-black : Purify the soul and get ready for development 2- then going blue : gives a start to peaceful thoughts & +ve thinking And so on .. It takes the shape of the river waves to increase the curves sensation ( Curves : ensures the eyes that everything is seen safety feeling )
Introducing the harbour through a real life video game The Experience starts after passing the start point and see a hologram that opens up when you step on the specific block on the floor through your walk The hologram shows photos and informations that you are going to be asked about in one of the tunnels you will meet
Meditation Points Nodes on the way of the track wont be blocked because the track takes slopes forming bridges and shelters
Some places were requested to be attractive nodes with lights to attract people from market street
The Points takes the abstract shape of the sea foam , as a sort of connection to the sea foam at the harbor
A Project looks like the track in this project
The tunnels : Not a must ,its just a piece of challenge if you can complete it to the end ( You are free to enter the challenge or continue going on the track )
Lighting inside the inner light spaces
Position : at the end of the color level of the track During walking through the color level the user gain a special kind of emotion that needs to be expressed , so these tunnels are to direct the mental energy into an appropriate physical one Ex: The pink tunnel
Components : -Main Lobby

Designing an interior design office
The task was to design an office that works on interior design, and the owner architect should be myself Given Concept: -Expressing your favorite style of architecture -Showing your clients how serious you are about architecture
My Key words: -Style (Organic – Gaudi) Back then we were studying Antony Gaudi in the history of architecture course and I admired his work the most so I wanted my office to be inspired by his work
Office Interior Design
-Concept Of Design: Unity – Personal Bubble
The Concluded theme was The Body Cells They represent the junior architects working together in the office As each of them is an individual with their own personal office/space on their specified tasks and talents, yet together they are all working with the same goals.
To give each architect his personal space yet not to lose the unity feeling I designed the office as a one big space were the walls are double walls with a 2.5m gap between them were the architects sit in the walls

Building Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Research Institute
Project Statement By Studying the Egyptian economical state in comparison to the speed of the rising number of population , in the recent few years , there is a conclusion of an increasing overlap in social and economic functions in Egypt which, in turn, manifests itself in an increasing blurring of distinctions regarding architectural features all over the country.
The aim of the Institute is to search for new building materials alternatives (cheaper , sustainable , better qualities or easier in maintenance) to keep up with the social and economical changes , as there will be economical benefits on both present and future aspects .
-Cheaper / Sustainable Materials & Techniques Lower Cost Enough budget for more projects Development --Low maintenance + Better qualities Time Saving Enough time to keep up with the social and economical needs Development
Examples of the goals the institute should reach : 1)Geosynthetic reinforced soil walls -Human-made materials from various types of polymers to enhance, augment and make possible cost, effective environmental, transportation and geotechnical engineering construction projects.
Solid wastes generation in India
-Its quality exceeds 3X the quality of traditional building materials -Doesn’t need concrete base, due to its lightweight, which can be created directly on the surface of the earth. -Pre-casted , with power lines and facilities inside it . -Installed in only 12 days, and custom designed. -Low cost ( 3 floors building of 70m/floor costs 70k-100k L.E ).
paper bricks made from 90% recycled paper mill waste (RPMW) and 10% cement . -The mixture is mechanically mixed and pressed into molds and then cured in the sun. -Low-cost means of eking more efficiency out of an already good practice. -Installation is similar to the clay ones .
My vision In Choosing the site will aim to help the institute , develop sustainable techniques in its researching process , as well as , Efficiency in the accessibility of the needed materials . 10th of Ramadan City
Site analysis Site Choice Criteria : -Natural energy source (as the ovens and the cold rooms are working 24/7 consuming a lot of energy) -Close to the city , to easily supply the city with the produced samples and to be easily supplied with the resources -By the edges of the city to protect the residents from Possible pollution caused by some of the labs -Nearby a building materials industrial area -Neighbors landuse mustn’t be affected by the vibrations caused by some of the labs -Large Span roads for the loading/unloading trucks -Possibility of futuristic expansions
61 building materials factories Accommodation in the engineers city –less than 2km away . Not so far from the city side. in the eastern desert – enough sun for solar energy production
First option -Site is Already determined by the government to be a smart village (economical ) Second option -Landuse -Suitable Neighbors Potentials marked on map #2 Context heights 3-4 floors
Site Constrains -Sunny -Max Building Height =30m
Existing Precedence Building Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Research Institute
Housing & Building Research Center Giza , Egypt
The Center is a group of 10 different institutes
One of these institutes is “Building Materials & Quality Control Research Institute “ Positive Factors in the institute : -In the middle of the city and easily accessible . -Supplied with all the needed labs and technologies . -Large empty Spaces for experiments and future additions. -Labs are well ventilated . -Huge Library. -Has its own magazine .
Negative Factors in the institute : 1- Located on Al-Tahrir Street (a major street & one of the highest traffic roads in Al-Dokki . 2-Parking Area can fit 20-30 Cars and Average 5 Microbuses 3-Located next to a school that has no parking Therefore: -While Loading the materials and products to/from the trucks , the traffic of the whole district is affected . -Not Enough Parking nor buses . Solutions -Design a larger parking area (average 100 cars -10 Buses ) -Locate the site on a minor yet wide road .
4- Located in a residential area Therefore : Harming the Residents health by the polluted air and heat produced by the Fire Safety Labs . Solution: -Locate the site on the edges of the city (close enough to the clients yet far enough for safety). 5- The Labs & Factories Consume a huge amount of energy . 6-Facades aren’t Sustainably designed Therefore : The main aim of the institute is not achieved ( helping the economy and environment ). Solution : -Locate the site in an area with a renewable energy source (wind or solar energy)
Topic Division : The main focus of the project is on the laboratories: 1-Standard Educational Labs (For Interns and Trainees ) 2-About 20*60-80 Area Labs, triple height for ventilation and loading the materials -Used for experiments and production . ( small sized Factories) in the needed fields (RC – Materials – Health & Safety issues – Soil – constructions physics )
-The Track where materials and products are lifted & loaded on Photos are of the materials lab at the HBRC
3-Standard Labs in the needed fields ( Chemistry Labs - Pressure Labs - Cold Rooms - Physics Labs - Geology Labs Geophysics Labs – Nanometeric Labs)
- Openings near the ceiling for light & ventilation
The Institute design should act as an introduction of its own concept Concept Key words :
Building Materials & Manufacturing Technologies Research Institute
sustainability – awareness - Structure – materials Exposed Structures
Concept of design Reinforced steel Trusses Canopy structure (all structures chosen are recyclable) Concrete slabs will be replaced by Fly ash As concrete store 40-60% of the weather thermal energy As well as fly ash is 97% recycled materials
Steel Concrete Earth Blocks Glass
Materials & Structures chosen according to environmental & Functional Issues
Aside to showing the building process and materials ,the Form of the building is a capture of the interaction between the researchers and visitors Targeted Visitors direction: conference hall exhibit library educational area On the way to these places the visitor is to go through exposed circulation entertained by watching the work inside the labs
Application Constrains By Applying the Concept of design, the project lost life and became depressing so I had to find a solution to motivate the students and workers to have better emotions so they can achieve the maximum possible .
A photo showing the view in the entrance Showing the maintenance pipes, more than one kind of structure, slab filling, wall bricks & Solar Cells.

3D sketch to show the form
The Manufacturing labs need huge chimneys, yet they pollute the air
Solution: -Increase Chimneys height -Build them with fire clay bricks to decrease the heat emission -Follow the ne LEED invented chimney design (it is not 100% eco-friendly, Yet it decreases the harm)
