What is E-waste?
E-waste is electrical and electronic equipment of any kind that has been discarded. This includes practically anything powered by an electrical source (e.g., from a power socket or a battery).

Why is it a problem?
E-waste contain small amounts of hazardous substances such as mercury and cadmium. The release of such substances into the environment may pose pollution and health problems. Much of e-waste is also non-biodegradable so it will linger in the environment for years.
