Joint Task Force to begin ILP check

DIMAPUR, APR 19

(NPN): A Joint Task Force comprising of civil and police will be set up for implementation of the Inner Line Permit(ILP) meant to check non-indigenous settlers and those entering Diampur after November 21,1979.

All non-indigenous people settled in Dimapur after November 21,1979 or those entering Dimapur after November 21,1979 are to possess ILP and if not, are given 30 days to compulsorily procure ILP from the DC’s Office Dimapur.

Meeting on ILP: DC

Dimapur Sachin Jaiswal convened a meeting at his office chamber on Tuesday to discuss matters related to ILP. The meeting comes against the backdrop of a report in Nagaland Post on April 10 regarding presence of a large number of suspected illegal immigrants in Dimapur.

The report was based on video clips that had gone viral, showing scores of suspected illegal immigrants obstructing and then forcibly pulling at the hose pipes of the fire tenders which had arrived on the scene to contain the blazing inferno in Burma Camp on April 9. At the meeting, DC

highlighted the government notification dated December 9, 2019 and stressed the need to make efforts to implement it effectively.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur expressed concern over non-compliance of the notification by many non-indigenous and stated that regular checking of ILP was required. The meeting decided that joint task force of district administration and police would be constituted for effective implementation of ILP. However, it was decided that a period of 30 days would be given to nonindigenous Nagas settled or entering area of Dimapur District after November 21, 1979 to compulsorily procure ILP from the office of DC Dimapur.

A proposal for checking of ILP at Chumoukedima gate was also decided to be taken up with appropriate authority.

NEW DELHI, APR 19 (PTI): India has logged 10,542 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases have increased to 63,562, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday. The death toll has increased to 5,31,190 with 38 deaths, which includes 11 reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.47 crore (4,48,45,401). The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.39 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 5.1 per cent. The active cases now comprise 0.14 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.67 per cent, the ministry said. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,42,50,649, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.

Be ‘ruthless’ against drug traffickers: Amit Shah to ANTF

(PTI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said anti-narcotics agencies should be “ruthless” in dealing with drug traffickers and cartels, stressing that they are the main culprits and those consuming drugs their “victims”.

State govt, UNICEF agree to collaborate

DIMAPUR, APR 19 (NPN): State government and UNICEF have agreed to collaborate in the area of RMNCH+A (Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health) through capacity building, technical support, supportive mentoring visits and other areas of support as feasible.

This was agreed during the visit of chief field office, UNICEF for Assam and North East, India, Dr. Madhulika Jonathan to the state on Wednesday.
