Scarcity of water in Mokokchung deliberated at DPDB meeting

District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) at the monthly meeting held on May 20 deliberated on the scarcity of water faced by the district.

A DIPR report stated that advisor of Water Resources and chairman DPDB, Mokokchung, Tongpang Ozukum informed the house that the scarcity of water was the major problem faced by the district for many years.

ment, but different steps should be taken to curb the problem such as giving awareness and sensitizing the people on water management.

He also called for meeting of all the line departments to discuss the issue and to initiate activities on rejuvenation of spring water.

Earlier, Tongpang welcomed all the legislators and members of the DPDB and thanked the district administration, police, head of offices and the civil societies for their collective effort in successfully conducting and maintaining peaceful environment during the recently concluded general election.

The house also discussed on the non-assignment of Urban Development Officer, which hampers in carrying out of many development activities in the district, and decided to approach the concerned department for appointment/deployment of Urban Development Officer in Mokokchung at the earliest.

The board also recommended the registration of new society of green hills research and development, Ungma village and grantin -aid for the following private schools: Mission School Changki, Straightway Higher Secondary School Mokokchung and Town Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung. Proposal for construction of Tourist Amenity Centre at Yimchalu Village, Mokokchung under PMJVY were also approved at the meeting. Programme manager highlighted power point presentation on elder line and, detail report on livelihood project, initiated under common pool during LADP 2021-2022 was given by the committee.

Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan, Mokokchung was also launched at the meeting.

The board also reviewed the last meeting minutes on status report on repair of district hospital road (IMDH), Mokokchung and shifting of NST bus station and office to ISBT Yimyu.
