NSCN (I-M) reaffirms stand on Framework Agreement

DIMAPUR, JAN 29 (NPN): NSCN (I-M) has asserted that nothing was more sacred for it than defending Naga national principles in safeguarding the Naga national identity.

RJD to contest 10 assembly seats

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has identified 10 assembly seats in Nagaland to contest the assembly election scheduled to be held on February 27, said party’s national general secretary Bhola Yadav, who along with state agriculture minister Kumar Sarvjeet returned on Friday after their two-day visit to assess the situation in the pollbound state, a TOI report stated.

The number of seats to contest may increase as some former ministers and strong candidates were in touch with RJD, Yadav told TOI over the phone. He said the scene will become clear on January 31, the day filing of nomination papers begins.

“We have analysed 32 seats on which RJD can contest,” said

Yadav, adding RJD national president Lalu Prasad was popular among the people there and several constituencies had natives of Bihar and Muslims would vote for them. He said, they had contested 25 seats in 2008 and secured 6.53% of the total votes cast.

“We lost six seats by less than 200 votes and four seats by less than 2000 votes. We got the status of national party then,” he said.

Yadav further said BJP and NDPP had planned to go solo, but formed alliance again. “Now, several former ministers and strong candidates are not getting BJP ticket and they are in our touch. We will increase the seats to contest as per the candidates,” he said.

RPP clarion call for change, to usher in ‘new Nagaland’

(NPN): Rising People’s Party (RPP) has called upon the people of Nagaland, especially the youth, women and right-thinking leaders, to come forward to fight together for a “new Nagaland” and also pray and support its candidates contesting the upcoming Assembly elections.

In a communiqué, RPP stated that it believed that a public uprising of fresh new leaders with a tribal/ regional mindset was the only option for progress, development and safeguard- ing people’s identity, culture, tradition and religious practices.

RPP recalled that it had appealed on numerous occasions to the people of Nagaland the importance of “electing honest and Godfearing candidates” and nominate such individuals from their respective constituencies to bring about true change that they all envisioned.

The party said that it stood on the belief that unless God-fearing young men and women rose to lead people, Nagaland would remain the same for another five years and the change in the system everyone aspired for would continue to be just a mere dream.

RPP also thanked the people for putting their trust on its ideology as the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly election drew nearer. It claimed that from day one of its inception it had been advocating good governance, rule of law, selfreliant economy, women & youth empowerment and clean election, while reaffirming its vision for a “New Nagaland.
