Waardevolle Wijken De waardebloem als ontwerpmethode voor het gezamenlijk sluiten van grondstofkringlopen Circular Communities The Circular Value Flower as a Design Method for Collectively Closing Resource Flows

In Waardevolle Wijken staan pionierende, collectief gedragen initiatieven centraal die gericht zijn op het sluiten van één of meerdere grondstofkringlopen op buurt- of wijkniveau en die hiermee bijdragen aan de transitie naar een circulaire economie.

Voor de analyse van deze verschillende initiatieven is door de onderzoekers – stedenbouwkundige Els Leclercq en architect Mo Smit – een unieke methodiek ontwikkeld: de Circulaire Waardebloemmethode. Deze methode helpt het gezamenlijk sluiten van grondstofkringlopen (materialen, energie, water, biota, nutriënten) op wijkschaal te organiseren en maakt inzichtelijk welke meerwaarde (economisch, ecologisch, sociaal, cultureel, esthetisch) hiermee binnen de gebouwde omgeving kan worden gerealiseerd.

Waardevolle Wijken biedt hiermee inspiratie en lessen voor integrale duurzame interventies op het schaalniveau van de wijk en sluit aan bij de nieuwe Omgevingswet (2022) die nadrukkelijk ruimte biedt aan burgerinitiatieven en lokaal opdrachtgeverschap. Circular Communities highlights pioneering, collectively supported initiatives aimed at closing resource flows at neighbourhood or district level, thus contributing to the transition to a circular economy.

For the analysis of these various initiatives, urban planner Els Leclercq and architect Mo Smit developed a unique method: the Circular Value Flower Method. This method helps to organise integrated efforts to close resource flows (materials, energy, water, biota, nutrients) on a neighbourhood scale and provides insight into the added value (economic, ecological, social, cultural, aesthetic) that can be realised within the built environment.
