SOCIAL INCUBATOR 2nd Year Degree
Site

This project seeks to engage in domains between architecture and urbanism. I am interested in the adaptive architectural interventions that contribute to the formation of new types of collective space in Wood Green. Social Incubator is the architectural intervention on an existing unused space located next to the student hall, designed to be sensitive to its surrounding while activating the livelihood of street level. It aims to educate and collaborate local residents by utilizing the co-existence of sxocial interaction hub, KickStarter

BOOKYARD 3rd Year Degree
Site
This project seeks to engage with context particularly in neighbourhood scale in relation to the city scale. I was interested in the city’s incomplete condition as a source of imagination and its urban transformation as a means to develop urban and architectural strategies. Bookyard Culture Center is the reconfiguration of Heritage buildings known as Peanut Factory. The intervention opens up the site into several open yard spaces with different social programs. It improves the existing urban fabric into a habitable public realm promoting visitors from the Greenway to engage into Hackney Wick. The Cultural Center aims to foster and promote book arts and artist led publishing in london through collaboration, education and open-access to printing and binding facilities: a space for hands- on experience, knowledge sharing and skill exchange.

URBAN SYSTEM OF FLORENCE I chose the influences of Florence, Italy as part of my project. I was inspired greatly by this beautiful Italian city. It is very rich in history of architectural wonders, adopting urban elements such as loggia, passage gallery, arcade gallery and urban atriums to function as public spaces that promote permeability throughout the city. This series of sketches shows my journey through the city starting from Piazza Santissima all the way to Plazza Pitti

GEODE PENANG BORR Design Competition
This ‘Urban Public Spaces Below Highway’ is an initiative under the Butterworth Baharu programme to increase the amount of public spaces in the Penang Sentral harbour front area. This project aims to activate under utilised spaces located under the Butterworth Outer Ring Road. GEODE : PENANG is inspired by the natural geological stone, geode where minerals are deposited to forms crystals lining inside. When cut in half, it is hollow with striking colours. Taking these elements and empolying it as a concept, the design is driven to breathe life in this otherwise dead space. The proposal includes 3 respective islands to becalled Art Island, Food Island and the Leisure Island.

The Wild Fresh Personal project; Paper airfreshener
Why Geometry and Wild Animals? Geometry forms are the combinations of basic forms such as squares, triangles, rectangles and circles. These shapes were exposed to us since young to help identify and organize visual information. It allowed use to understand numbers and letters by recognizing their shape. Little do we know that there are psychological meaning to these shapes. For example, a triangle with the pointed edge represents a direction. A triangle pointed upwards suggest strength, stability and hierarchy where else when it is pointed downwards suggests instability and weakness. When these shapes are combine together carefully, it will form a story.
We understand the importance of wild animals as they even each other out into a balanced and effective ecosystem. There is wealth and knowledge that is openly accessible in nature. But it won’t last long if people are unaware of the danger some of the wild animals are facing. Did you know that there are only 3890 tigers left in the wild? It will be very devastating to lose the existence of this beautiful creature. Taking our understanding of geometry and combine it with the natural forms of wildlife enables me to create new forms of visual expression. The designs are driven to connect with people through their roots and allow them to have an emotional understanding of the wildlife.

Gingerbread Hotel Design Competition
Designed for the holiday season, Gingerbread City calls for architects, designers and engineers to create an entire city out of edible treats. Taking part for the first time this year, a team of architects and model makers from KPF constructed a confection named the Teacake Hotel. The process entailed exploring the potential of new materials: casting faceted sugar glass; pre-fabricating gingerbread facade panels with bespoke, 3D printed, cookie cutters; creating a sweet public realm; and having some fun with candy-cane hot-tubs and frosting snowballs. The resulting model is good enough to eat.
VISAGE ARCHITECT Summer Internship
Visage architect is a medium sized architecture practice based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I was exposed to five different project sites. Contributed with CAD documentations, 3D Modelling and visualization. I attended many project progress meetings and work closely with other consultants which gave me hands-on architecture practice experiences.

BEIJING CENTURY CITY is a 200,000 sqm of mix-used development in the central heart of Beijing inspired from natural form of mountains with refined facade geometry that surfaces the the massing into a sophisticated deisgn. I am deeply involved in every design and technical process since the begining of the project up to Detail Design stage.

MOUNTAIN CONCEPT
CONCEPT MODELS MADE OUT OF RESIN
Looking from the front you see ridges, looking from side you see peaks, near and far, high and low, they are all different.
This famous poem is used to describe Lu mountain, where the breathtaking views and beauty of mountainscape are presented in various views. The massing takes inspiration from formation of mountain peaks. Clusters of 3 buildings come together to create an architectural language representing a “mountain-scape in the city.
HARD VS SOFT Design draws from traditional Shan-shui paintings. In Wang Ximeng’s famous painting, the hard rock and soft valley mountain landscape is represented using contrasting tones, bright blue rocks and dark green valleys. Echoing the Shan-shui painting techniques, the scheme is developed to inherit a “hard” vs “soft” (concept. This ideology is manifested into the formation of 3 buildings. The hard shell distinctly separates each building, giving individuality and prominence on site; whilst the soft flowing valleys formed between the towers provide amenity bridges. Connective public spaces are provided throughout the 3 buildings.
