Since I was a little kid I had an interest in drawing, all my books and notebooks through my studies in schools filled with little sketches. Later on I got lucky to be accepted in Faculty of Architecture were my life has changed since, Architecture taught me to free my mind and to look to the world differently. Also, discipline, team work and work under pressure were the skills that had been polished in the study and work years. Beside architecture I’m a Photographer, Nature, Landscape and of course Architecture are the most topic I practice.

Commercial & Entertainment Complex 4th year IDEA Located in new housing area near Damascus city, Commercial and entertainment Complex is a necessary need for new housing project and “Dahiet Qudsaya area, it has three main sections (Commercial, Entertainment and Services). The idea is cut the volumetric space to three parts as the planned area, the suburb of Qudsaya has a wide view of Lebanon mountains and vast plains, which made it an advantage to use high tower as a landmark. Separation in functions does not necessary mean three buildings, to avoid separation buildings are connected in some floors and it gives the main shape a step-ed form. The final result of design processing produced three main forms needed a combined shape, for that, a surrounding skin of the form give the feel of one united building.

Governmental Complex With ROULA KHZIEM
5th year
31
PROJECT
In the recent years, many government facilities distributed throughout the city especially Ministries and their following departments. Therefore, the government proposed to build a governmental complex contains between (13-15) ministries plus the parliament. The ground located on the edge of the city next to an existing Council of Ministries building, an area approximately of 20 Hectare. This project will decrease the traffic jam inside the city and facilitate the connection between the ministries and peoples’ work.
IDEA
The problem was to fit 14 ministries with ground area of 2,000 m2 for each, and the parliament, conference palace and hotel. Based on the tree’s leaflets arranged alternately, and the concept of life in the growing leaves, the idea was to distribute the buildings in a way to create a live urban axis with ministries on the sides, with a feel of a movement by applying glide-reflectional symmetry, similar to the leaf lines.
32
CONCEPT
THE PROPOSED GROUND
Next to Council of Ministries, and new residential area to the south and east. Highway and University campus at the north, with area of 206,000 m2.
ENTRANCES
Creating multi-entrances for the people, employees and special entrances for the ministers, with outdoor and underground parkings in a way does not allow cars enter inside the complex.
33
BALANCE
To achieve the balance between the Legislature and Executive Authority, we put the Parliament on the opposite site of Council of Ministries, with ministries amidst them.
AXIS
Symmetrical distribution of buildings create a pedestrian axis begin wide with the main entrance in the west and narrow down to the east. It also split into smaller branches parallel to the ministries ending at the outdoor parkings.
DISTRIBUTION
Using glide-reflectional symmetry and
diagonal lines to line the ministries up and reduce the built up area to increase the green spaces.
GREEN
The remaining area is green spaces and bodies of water. In addition, services spaces underground. Area approximately of 10 hectare.

Ministry of Communication With ROULA KHZIEM
5th year
CONCEPT The idea behind the building form began with the function of the ministry building, and came with a concept related to it. In the technology world there are many variations can build on it to achieve an ideal functional building. As the Ministry of Communication we took Signal types (shapes and lines), the main principle that the first communication based on, and ended up with the Digital Signal to form volumetric shapes suitable for the building propose.
The outer skin is based on electric circuit lines (an electrical conductor), on three side the lines represent the opening and on the forth side (north) is the opposite, to provide natural lighting. Shading the void between the three masses with glass cladding system to allow the sunlight into the building and reduce the artificial lighting.
By dividing the building to the three sections based on the digital signal, the relation between mass and void with right proportion gives the building a bar-code shape from the top, right and left views.
Bridges, to connect the main masses with each others.
The vertical movement in the building, with fire escape stairs and elevators.
Defining the floors and its functions, General, minister and departments floors. Defining the masses’ functions, two (blue) for offices and administration, and one (purple) for services and connections
Dividing the volumetric mass to three section by digital signal shape.

FLOOR PLANS The ground floor (top-left), had four entrances divided between the minister, the employees and two for the people, also contains an inner yard with the reception. The first floor (top-right), the minister floor with his secretaries and conference rooms. 2nd, 3rd and 5th floors (down-left), the vice minister floor and the direct departments floors. 4th floor (down-right), other main departments floor, contains the public related offices and customer services.

Graduation Project
I T
n a view of the current situation resulting from the war, and through the existing crises, the housing problem becomes in the first place, which places the individuals under great social, economic and living problems. herefore, it was thought to recreate a social urban fabric in a disaster area by replanning and designing it in modern, economical and sustainable ways. This model can be repeated in all the damaged areas during the war, taking into account the morphology of the cities.

CURRENT SITUATION STUDY BUILDING USE
HOUSING TYPES
90% of buildings are used for housing, there are many schools and administration buildings. In addition, religions, factories and commercials. 35% of the land are farms and not used land, it can be invested.
Squatters are the main feature of this city, it is obviously seen this type is dominating the housing types. In the north there are two social housing complexes. Toward the south and the west, farming houses and villas can be noticed.
MASS AND VOID
PHYSICAL CONDITION
Most of the building masses are combined, and it can be noticed that there is no clear morphology for the city and created mostly from squatters, while the voids are farms and vast unused lands turning into arid grounds.
For 3 years this city has been a conflict area, in the result many buildings were damaged entirely or partially, in proportion of 10% and 64% respectively. The other buildings came out with minor damage and it can be restored easily.
BUILDINGS HEIGHT
ROADS HIERARCHY
Two blue colors define the range of the building height. The bright blue color, which forms 95% of the buildings, represent heights from 1-3 floors. The dark blue represents 4-6 floors.
The city is rounded with main roads, on the east a highway linked between two major cities, and the airport. On the inside, there no clear hierarchy, the roads wide between 1-6 meters. There are unpaved roads can bee seen towards the southwest.
POPULATION DENSITY
SERVICES RADIUS
In the north-east of the city congregate the high density of population, and it scatters towards the south-west of the city, where the farms and villas are sited.
There are many services in the city, and most of the houses are well served, especially with the schools. Many services can be improved like the police and fire stations. A railway station can be added due to the railway line in the south.
CONCEPT AND DESIGN PROCESS ROADS PRESERVATION In the rebuilding process, Keeping the city features and saving its identity is very important in many levels. The first step is preserving the main roads and its infrastructures and enhance them to serve more people.
GREEN AXIS To keep the presence of the commercial zone in the center of the city, a green axis added with vast areas of plazas and playgrounds. From this axis branches six more to increase the green areas proportion in the city.
NEW ROADS
URBAN & RURAL
After specifying the main roads and determined what to keep, we added new roads to help with complete the inner circular road, and place new main entrance point to the city, also new exit points to provide better connection with the neighbor cities.
A green strap created to split the urban area from the farming area. This strap contain high and tall trees can block the westsouth winds to blow into the city, and to does not let the city affect the privacy of the agriculture lands.
ZONING
FINAL FORM
A big part of the city was farming lands, keeping this feature is very important. A commercial and investment zone in the center of the city will be very beneficial for the farmers. Also, Increasing the housing area for better density.
Preserving what was good and adding new features produce an urban content can be so affective and productive to the people of this city. It contains a new city and improved one based on the old one.
42
URBAN PLANNING BUILDING USE
ROADS TYPES
middle of the city and with the wide roads Building heights differ depending on the position of the building, the houses beside the farms area differ between 1-2 floors. On the main streets inside the city, 7-8 floors. With the new entrance point from the highway, new roads were created with high capacity to accommodate the increase in the number of cars, the main roads inside the city form circular roads around the avenues with multi access points into them.
MASS & VOID
BUILDING HEIGHTS
The new plans are based on studying the current situation of the city, specifying the problems and weaknesses, also expecting the challenges that will confronting the people who lives there. In the first plan - Building Use - it can be seen the new formation of the housing and buildings, new features add to increase the level of population in healthy and well served environment, new sport centers and many commercial zones. The Mass ration increased but in better density and the void was created in the
43
GREEN AREAS
The main and most important feature is the green areas, the lands around the city including the farming lands are transforming into arid areas. Reclamation the agricultural lands and improve the irrigation system will increase the green areas in the city. The green axis in the middle of the city can play a great rule in enhance the economic and life aspects for the city residences.
URBAN DESIGN The social housing, one of many house types proposed in the project. This complex (on the left) has six buildings, two types, assembled in a pattern of 2 by 1. The first type is a small building contains 4 apartments with wide corridors and a shaft in the middle to help with ventilation. The second type has 5 apartments bigger in area. The Idea of this complex is to create a connection between these buildings to emphasis on sociability, this connection is approached by linking the buildings with bridge formations provide movement and sight seeing.
The concept began with the idea of “gathering around” and “sociability”, started with a box represent the hall void gathering around it many masses, which represent the apartments. The inner volume took the shape of a cross to provide the linking points with the other buildings. These crosses created four or six parts which the apartments will be. One of these parts will form the vertical connection, the staircase and the elevators. With the same design process, the whole complex created the same way, forming an open inner yard, a friendly place to help the residences to get acquainted and the buildings on the sides, on the other sides determined the underground parking entrances. The green areas surrounded the complex, with many trees types, waterscapes and playgrounds for children.
44
AGRICULTURAL HOUSING A part of the city inhabited by farmers, to preserve this tradition we made agriculture houses. The house splits into two section, the living and green house, an inner small space where the farmer can plant the basic vegetables need for everyday use. The two sections are linked in a hall way centered the house and led to the Terrace, on the backyard. This type of houses took nearly 40% of the houses in the proposed city, to encourage the sustainability and make self produced economic system, in this way the city will be self-efficient and can export food products to other cities including the capital.
45
MULTI-USE CENTER The idea behind this center lay in the importance of the city features, a part of the city population are farmers, in the absence of a central market in the city, we created this multiuse center to export city’s products and to form a gathering points for the residences. It contains many services, administration, investing, shops, offices, local services, supermarkets, market and children areas. It has an open spaces and inner spaces with patios and rooftops, the design is connected with neighborhoods, and in direct connection with central axis.
