PROJECT 1 : WORKPLACE

KARIGARI karigari Year : 2023 Location : Telangana, India

Karigari is a handloom work center that caters to meet the occupational safety and health of handloom weavers within their workspace. The purpose of this place is to help weavers connect and interact with the village community and affiliated collaborators. This space would act as a community and work center for the weavers staying in this village.

Bazaar : Retail Space The main goal of this area is to help bond people through interactions with the general public and within the community itself. Farmer’s market would invite the farmers of the village into the space, wherein they would see how the weavers work and connect to general public.

Karigari : Loom Space The main goal of this area is to create workspaces that is not overcrowded and enables mobility within the space according to the context. Raised platforms have been designed with pits and spaces for lounging within the building where these workers could also work.

Upkaar : Service Space This is the space where additional services are provided that would help opportunities and initiatives more accessible for the people in the community irrespective of their occupation. 1.

PROJECT 2 : HOSPITALITY

MIXT mixt Year : 2023 Location : Los Angeles, California

MIXT is a purpose driven salad bar that encourages a sustainable lifestyle through the in-store experiences of the user. The main objective of this restaurant is to help people lead a healthy and sustainable regime in their life.



MIXT : Brand History American company founded in 2006 in San Francisco with two goals: make healthy fast food accessible and set the bar on sustainable restaurant operations. The lack of delicious, healthy, high-quality options continues to spur innovation and expansion of the brand.

Self Order Kiosk This area is the individual electronic kiosk system that the users can use to order their food. The electronic systems are for those people who feel pressured to have one-on-one conversations with the staff and do not want to stand in a queue. This is a way for them to avoid interactions and see their orders being made on the digital system. It also helps people to create profiles on the system and attain the benefits of being a regular customer of this restaurant. The kiosk allows the customers to know more about the brand by accumulating points.

Serving Stations

1.

This area consists of two stations, where one is a server ordering station and the other is a make your own bowl station. People who prefer to stand in queue and have a server prepare their food are the target audience for the server ordering station. To ensure transparency, the ingredients are visibly accessible, and the sourcing information will be provided. The make-your-own bowl area is where the users can create their own salads. Through standardized bowls provided by the restaurant, the users get to make their own bowls, where they have complete freedom and transparency of the ingredients.

Menu would change according to the seasons to ensure fresh produce is provided throughout the year. Glass encasing to display cutlery and standardized bowl sizes. LED side panels displaying nutritional facts and sourcing information.

Posters that motivate healthy living and what makes a nutritious diet, and are encouraged to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Self-checkout area with POS system that completely negates the need for interaction.


Composting Workshop In order to connect with consumers and educate them about environment friendly practices, the restaurant hosts events and workshops. The room would have in-house composting where all the food waste produced in the restaurant would be immediately put in the composting bins. This is also a space where the customers would be educated on composting waste generated within their households.

Acoustic panels to make sure that the exhaust’s noise doesn’t spread toward the seating area. Closely located to the indoor garden, where the compost would be used to grow the produce. Exhaust systems that ensure the odor doesn't spread towards the rest of the site.

20 Food Seven is an experiential food hub that is curated in an interactive and playful way to fulfill the society's need for social connectedness and work/life balance. This space is a third place designed to help strike a balance between work and private life of the users by creating a life that flows with them rather than making them power through it. *Collaborative project of 3 people.

This is an area that would help facilitate conversations while learning a new skill. Corners with food and store related interactive games to promote interaction.

Sensory experience that uplifts the mood of the consumers. Coffee for smell and taste, textures for touch, and patterns for sight. Open displays to sell roasted coffee beans and ground coffee powder along with traditional coffee filters for people interested in buying what they have tried during the experience. Acoustic insulation in this area promotes positive interactions amongst the users and improve the experience of coffee tasting also to make sure the lessons doesn’t disturb the shoppers in the retail. This area incorporates opportunities to get incentives that builds customer loyalty. Interactive games also helps creating a feeling a sense of accomplishment through connections. With pops of color people can get curious and get attracted.


Cooking Lab A cooking lab to learn from professional chefs to improve culinary skills, creating a sense of accomplishment. The inclusive environment fosters a collaborative and interactive experience that helps develop a new skill. The space incorporates various programs that encourages choices to lead a healthy lifestyle.

SOCIAL BASE social base Year : 2022 Location : Richland County, South Carolina

Social Base is a community center dedicated to the army veterans living in the area. It is created to celebrate and empower them. This space not only acts as a community center that connects veterans to each other, but also a base that helps connect people interested in enlisting into the forces. *Collaborative project of 3 people.

Interactive Entrance Outdoor program with obstacle course is visible from the street which enhances overall civic presence. This area concentrates on connecting and educating civilians to the lives of those in the military through the interactive tunnel & mementos display and photo booth.

Mill Social & Amuse Box A work café with multiple uses that promotes veterans & their family business. A space with many programs that builds connections and empowers the veterans. This space also includes the merchandise store that helps promote local veterans business. Amuse box is a space for people to enjoy music. This area is created to encourage people who were part of the military band to play music.

Museum & Therapy Focal point is the museum that attracts crowd to enter the space. Engages civilians and students by educating them about history of military wars. The other area is the therapy area: promotes mental well-being by receiving aid from a therapist that helps in maintaining emotional stability.

PROJECT 5 : HEALTHCARE

HALCYON halcyon Year : 2021 Location : Miami Beach, Florida

A luxury care facility by the client ‘A place for Mom’ designed for seniors suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia. A place for Mom is dedicated to helping seniors feel safe and at home within this facility. The space has been designed keeping in mind the ten principles of dementia required to help foster the user’s physical and psychological activity.

Stimulative Therapy Areas Therapy areas to stimulate motor and sensory function to help patients with dementia. Pottery studio for patients to increase creative stimulation and social interaction which increases confidence and concentration. Creating familiar settings of the patient’s with the help of Reminiscence Therapy. Speaking to therapists about their past memories to help them recollect or remember.

Decompression Lounges Multiple lounging opportunities and rest areas within the facility for the patients to interact and connect with each other. Multiple activities within these lounges to keep them busy and active with reading, playing board games, visual cues and stimulation. 4.

Mail area with designated shelving for packages and lockers with different colors according to the different rooms for patients to recognize their lockers easily. Central library with seating as well as grab bars around the structure for support for people walking in the corridors. Visibility to outside with the view of the street and nature for people to still feel connected to the society.


Studio Bedroom Personal studio bedroom for the patient and their caregiver. With warm tones and materials that resembles the beach the studio would be a safe haven for the users. Each bedroom would also have a private balcony for the users to connect with nature.

Muted colors and light counters for people to avoid spillage and help them in identifying contrasting colors or ingredients while cooking. Wide double basin ADA sinks for accommodating more dishes and for people in wheelchairs to deposit dishes easily. Lighting above the kitchen island to improve the experience of sight while cooking or baking. People could also use the space as a communal eating space, so it would also act as an accent to improve the experience.
