THE ROCKIES AWARD SHOW

The Rockies Award Show is an annual gala celebrating creativity in the Idaho advertising industry. The event offers our community an opportunity to gather, network, and talk about the work that inspires us while raising money for education and community outreach. For our 2017 holiday gift, we decided to give our clients what they needed most around this hectic season: a little peace and quiet. The team screen printed 250 boxes using three colors plus an additional interior print. The headphones feature

Name Brand’s newly launched brand pattern, and the custom greeting card that tied the campaign together. We were glad to see our hard work pay off by winning an overall gold in our category at the Rockies Award Show presented by the Boise Ad Federation.


PHOTO OF THE NIGHT Say “CHEESE!” So we may not have been voted the most photogenic, or even the most flexible (cough, Danny, cough) but, we were voted Photo of the Night! I promise no one got hurt in the breaking of the booth and we fixed the booth after we broke it.


PRODUCT OF THE MONTH The product of the month was a custom black yoga mat and strap for Selecthealth. These were produced for an event called Open Street.

Open Streets events temporarily open a series of city streets exclusively to walking, jogging, bicycling, roller blading, and more. These events encourage new people to try walking and bicycling in a comfortable and fun environment. Supporting activities regularly include exercise classes, dance classes, yoga, aerobics, and family-friendly games and activities.

The day kicked off right with a morning yoga class. Everyone who attended was gifted the new yoga mat that featured the Selecthealth logo with an iconic green carrying strap. Selecthealth is a Utah based insurance company that believes in proactive care and its communities. “Our community is what makes us who we are—and we’re more than just your average health insurance company. We’re building stronger, healthier communities—one event, program, and service at a time.”


STRAP YOUR MIND AROUND THIS Selecthealth returned us the product sample loving it but, with one question “How does this strap work?” As every person does, we jumped to the conclusion “It can’t be that hard to figure out…”. We were very wrong. After a couple of You Tube sessions, we found a video that cleared things up for this particular strap. DISCLAIMER: These instructions are for a strap with a sewn loop on each end.

STEP 1: Take one end and put it through the opposite loop to make a circle.

STEP 2: Take the middle of the circle you just created and push it through the free end loop.

STEP 3: You should have two circles that will act as a slip knot for each end of your yoga mat.


A Partnership That Makes Sense

We’ve partnered with Idaho State University to help them visually showcase the quality education they provide through killer design and trail-blazing approaches to manufacturing that guarantees exceptional product quality.

Idaho State University has struggled to find a way to communicate the unique role they play in attracting prospective students and parents. One of the ways ISU wanted to display their quality was to ensure all promotional items were items that exceeded the

industry standard. Last month, Name Brand Promotions traveled to the ISU campus to help reveal and capture the reaction to the new, custom designed, and manufactured merchandise from the students during enrollment weekend. Watch the video here.



BEHIND THE SCENES At the beginning of this May, Name Brand Promotions hired a new Graphic Designer, me (cue the trumpets)! My name is Jordan Ward. I recently graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) with an emphasis in Graphic Design. How lucky I am to be interviewing myself, so let’s get to know me! Q: What is your role at Name Brand? A: I make pretty pictures. Q: Do you have an office nickname? A: Not that anyone says to my face.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” –Walt Disney Q: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you? A: Morgan Freeman. Q: Which cartoon character would you most like to switch lives with?


A: Road Runner. Living life on the open road, no traffic, and endlessly frustrating Wile E Coyote, yes. Q: What is your hidden talent? A: I can make the noise of a whipped cream can. Q: What kind of hobbies do you have outside of work? A: Hiking, dirt biking, snowmobiling, camping, and road trip--ing. Q: What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love? A: XOXO Gossip Girl. Q: What would people never guess that you do in your role? A: Keep the boys in check. Q: Would you rather be a tiny elephant, or a giant hamster? A: How giant? Are we talking relative to its normal size or like King Kong?

Q: What is your favorite part about working for Name Brand Promotions? A: Getting paid to write about myself, and the tacos.
