MICRON’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY GIFT Every great product starts with a great idea. NBP thrives when a customer is looking for a great idea and when the customer buys into it we know the importance of delivering what they are expecting. Most of these products are fully custom and they are almost always a large impact project for the company. We take every customer’s jobs serious especially when all the eyes are on a specific piece. Before Micron chose our products for their 40th Anniversary Gift, we knew it was going to be great. When they made their decision, we knew it had to be great. Each employee, in every facility at Micron
Corporation, were going to receive a gift that was tied to a specific celebration date. That’s 36,500 sets of goods that are produced at four separate manufacturing facilities that need to be shipped to 36 different destinations in 12 countries within 45 days. Game on! A project like this really illustrates why NBP is different from most promotional product companies. As we’ve said before all great projects start with a great idea. It was hard to show this idea in a 2D file, so the first step was to have it converted to a 3D rendering. After that, production files for each piece had to be
created. Most companies offer a template with the company’s logo placed inside of the print space allowed. We took the 3D renderings and created true production files which spell out how a product is meant to function, feel and present itself. After the customer approves the digital proofs based on the spec sheets, it is important to produce pre-production samples so that NBP and the customer assure product manufactures the way it was meant to appear. We must point out that before any of this is possible, NBP has to assure the manufacturer has the capabilities, resources and proper certifications to deliver something complex like this. The pre-production process can be the most time consuming as manufacturing tweaks are being made to make sure it functions and looks perfect. Once the pre-production samples are approved, the production lines are put into place. At this point, the time is needed to make sure all
the logistics are coordinated. Micron obviously has an internal logistics team, and a good one at that, so it was a pleasure collaborating with them to make sure all the documents were prepared to clear customs in all 12 countries. In this case, we needed 36 individual commercial invoices, fumigation reports, break test reports, FDA certification, box spec sheets, and CE certificates of conformity. Because the delivery dates were time sensitive (and time was not on our side), you can never overlook the importance of logistics, with all the sweat and tears go into concept and manufacturing, it can all go to waste if it is not delivered prior to the event. During manufacturing we made multiple random inspections to make sure each process was going smoothly and that each production stage/goal was being met. Within days of completing the goods, our CEO made a final inspection tour. He flew to visit each factory and with our
inspection team, inspected the goods before they were shipped to packaging. Before heading home, he stayed at the box/packaging facility for three days to help keep things on time, assured the presentation would be perfect, and most importantly worked with the factory to ensure the schedule and paperwork was filed properly. After the first five shipments were made our CEO headed home and the factory completed the shipments according to the shipping calendar we left them with. Every evening Microns contact per facility and logistics team was sent the tracking number of their shipment along with a backup
of the commercial invoice and the supporting documents in case customs requested info from them. The amount of people and infrastructure needed to deliver products like this should not be left in the hands of vendors that do not have the experience or have the in-house capabilities. Great product always starts with a great idea. Everything in between is what makes NBP different than the majority of our competition. Happy Anniversary Micron, it is a pleasure serving companies that care!
PRODUCT OF THE MONTH 3form came to us with an idea for a custom tote bag. This bag would be used as a sales tool to carry sample tiles for meetings. Heavy tiles called for a strong bag that could last. When we began this project 3form had an idea of what they wanted so all we had to do was make their dreams come true. They knew the size they would need to fit the tiles was 24x24. With tiles that big we were concerned
how the bag and the handles would hold up. We decided to strengthen the canvas body by making the handle the length of the bag and stitching them into the bottom seam. The handles were reinforced with a box stitch
through a leather patch to ensure that the handles would be able to hold up to the weight of the tiles. We also added a heavyweight waterproof zipper to ensure that not only could the tiles not fall out but no weather is able to get in.
Even though this bag is packed full of functionality it is equally as cool looking. We were able to customize this bag with a custom laser engraved suede patch stictched to the front, a woven tag, and a custom liner.
