I love all of my designs because I watched them grow

Working in a team of two, we proposed a unique design scheme for Illini Rowing Team by separating public and private programs in two independent structures. The separation created an interesting environment that serves as the entrance to both buildings. The private area of the design constitute all the team facilities such as team lounge and exercise area, rowing tank space, boat storage area, and locker room, etc. The public building serves all the public functions like renting space, cafĂŠ and gift shop. By connecting these buildings using a super-roof canopy structure above the entrance, we created a unique atmosphere in the common space between the public and private functions. The common plaza also leads straight to the homer lake where people can watch all the activities happening and rowing practice in the lake. I was mainly responsible for the preliminary and schematic design, the programmatic functional strategy, roof canopy design and its structure. From presentational standpoint I created all the renderings inside and out, structural and programmatic diagrams, physical and digital 3D models, etc.

Atmospheric HABITAT is a multi housing development offering an innovative approach to the problem of housing for Marfa, TX. The project deals with the essential requirements of individuals by using different variations of prefabricated housing technology, and the building of the structural canvas over the site forms a distinctive communal atmosphere. The Structural Canvas over the whole site acts like a pavilion that provides both the protection from the dry hot weather of Texas and also creates a sense of shared environmental sanctuary. The space fashioned by this gigantic pergola will perform as a unique community atmosphere and generate an exceptional simulating personal experience. The erected framework is a lightweight structure constructed by composite sandwich panels at different angles with rectangular openings to allow sunlight to create spectacular involvement of shades and shadows. The proposed project encapsulates all the attributes of an attractive multihousing establishment. The complexity of the structural canvas and the simple variations of the housing units challenge the traditional way of approaching the housing problem.

12

The pre-fabricated homes allow the easy construction and provide various configurations for occupants according to the need of the individual and the use of space. Two basic varieties of units, UA_ (800 sq ft) and

UB_ (800 sq ft) with a slight difference of the floor plan, provide the initial starting point. Occupants will create

their living space based on their immediate needs and can alter the layout overtime, based on changes in their respective lives. The open site allows flexibility and variations in the arrangement of the units. The diversity of configurations provides occupants with the private recreational space on the roof.

Project Mosque and the Community Center Rebuilding Mogadishu

Designed a mosque/community Mosque for post-conflict urban society, which would serve the community at large providing

both religious and social needs. Design included library, education center, and outdoors parks in addition of the praying areas both for men and women.

In any war stricken society most consider food, shelter and medical as their basic necessities. This should not diminish the

importance of a place where people can nature their spirits and build the community. Similarly in a post conflict Somalia along

with the provision of other basic human needs, I think there is a great need of an environment where people can relate themselves as functional and living community. Islam has a strong influence on Somalian culture and on the lifestyle of people.

The design idea for the mosque is not just a place of worship; it is complex of buildings, which will serve as a community-

gathering center with programs such as mosque, library, learning center, exhibition space, etc. Utilizing the site as a park like environment, I want this complex especially the mosque to be the center od attraction of the city.

Designing a building is like having a debate, we may agree to disagree, but you win as a client.

Orchestration of a thought and expression of an idea cannot be confined within the constraints of the present; they need to be

regarded with the features of tomorrow. The ever-accelerating technology shifts recognize that there is little stability in form.

Thus we create for future and not today. The School of Collaborating Design is an alliance between different fields of arts and science, especially Arts, Architecture and Materials Science. The main objective is to engage all disciplines in creating architecture and design. The building of this school itself is the reflection of this unique paradigm, providing collaborative space

and programs. Its Facade acts as a structural skin that carries most of the load of the building while giving maximum flexibility within.

First Floor Plan IronBridge Gorge Museum Trust was established in 1967 to preserve and institute the importance of Iron Bridge Grove, which was designated as a world Heritage Site to recognize the areas unique contribution to the birth and impact of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century around the world.

The historic importance of the surviving built and natural environment is the reminiscent of the most technologically advanced of the 18th century. For this project I worked on the preservation and the design of the historic brick warehouse, which has three floors with area of almost 19000 sqft. The

warehouse is adjacent to the Museum of Iron, the pavilion containing the historic Old Furnace, the east wing potentially for storage, and the car park for the visitors.

The proposed design deals with a separate building as a main entrance of the museum exhibiting enormous ramp area which leads to the main

exhibitions space on the third floor of the existing warehouse. The addition of a separate structure creates a unique environment through the central courtyard between the two buildings. The ramps and the courtyard encourage and invite the visitors and associated commercial activities that will benefit the development and protection of the historic site. 34
