Blueprint of Bergen's Maritime Industries 4: FISHING
When a fisher comes home from days, months, at sea, and you ask him if there were any fish, and the answer is ’’the ocean was black’’ or,
in Norwegian ‘’Svart Hav’’, you know there were no fish. Black ocean is a saying among fishers - when there is no fish, the ocean is black. Absence.
Black Ocean is the result of investigations into Bergen's fishing industry, carried out by students at Bergen School of Architecture in the course: Explorations in Ocean Space II – Vest Land North Sea Blueprints, Autumn 2020, in collaboration with Bergen Kunsthall.
Teachers: Nancy Couling & Vibeke Jensen with Julia Morrissey (assistant) and Mads Andersen graphic designer, studio boi
Authors: Kasper Gulbransen, Judith Krüger, Inger Helen Øvrebrø
