Airolo, a small town on the highway of the gotthard tunnel in Switzerland. A lot of tourist pass through Airolo while they cross through the Gotthard tunnel, which is the border between North and south Europe. The town has had it’s touristic past and is in need to regain quality by creating better facilities for inhabitants and tourists. It is important to give the historical building of the summerschool an important value for the inhabitants of the town. The new function is a elementary school by reusing the old building and creating a promenade with a view over the valley and the river.

CABRERA BALEARIC ISLANDS SPAIN
The intervention takes place on the island of cabrera a touristic island with a protected natural landscape with special plant species. The guardians of the parc welcome yearly millions of tourists. A new building households accomodation for the guards. The building consists out of two volumes with an internal courtyard, which offers a botanical garden with plants of the island. The shape derives from the idea of reusing the historical agricultural terraces on the island so that it can respond to the sloping context. The two volumes are divided into a private one with the rooms for the guardians and in the other building the semi public part with the reception, meeting room and offices for the guardians. All spaces come together under a single sloping roof that emphasizes the slope of the landscape. The building serves as a gate that indicates the start of the route towards the castle.

SIEDLUNG HOUSING - ATELIER BEARTH KVARNHOLMEN
3
STOCKHOLM SWEDEN
The housing project in Stockholm takes place on the island Kvarnholmen. The typology of housing is a siedlung. The landscape of the site is located in the south of the island, it was important to involve the northern part of the arrival from the port, creating a road that passes through the existing buildings alongside the siedlung offering a new access point. The orientation of the sieldung is parallel to the street in order to dialogue with the existing buildings. For me it was important to improve the circularity of the landscape. I created streets around the houses that lead to existing roads. The rock formation in front of the site is a sloping territory that offers a belvedere. To highlight the view towards the naturalistic landscape I created a staircase with wide steps. A central square becomes the public space as meeting space for the inhabitants. The building area is divided in 4 rows with 4 story appartments with each it’s own terrace

CASA DEL SOLE
-
CARLO MOLLINO
Casa del sole by architect Carlo Mollino is located in Cervinia Italy. The building is a created between 1947 and 1955, conceived as an idea of a “vertical village”, a “filter where people enter and skiers come out”. The building provides twenty apartments with a restaurant. A special care is dedicated to the furniture designed by Mollino himself. The structure is interesting therefore i did a construction research on the Nine-storey reinforced concrete structure. The aim of the research is to understand the different fases of construction.

IN MOTION - CÔTÉ RAILS, CÔTÉ JARDIN - DANCE SCHOOL - ATELIER GUEDES GIUBIASCO SWITZERLAND
5
The Dance school in Giubiasco, is situated parrallel to the trainrails and is in direct relation to the local trainstation. The building is integrated within the industrial context. The structure is made out of load bearing wall partitions. The upper floors are held up by steel tie rods. The central core of the building consists of double height dance studios illuminated by skylights. The title of the building ‘CÔTÉ RAILS, CÔTÉ JARDIN’ is the french concept of theatre where the perfomance takes place either on the front stage or the back stage. The CÔTÉ RAILS represents the front stage open towards the public and CÔTÉ JARDIN represents the back stage towards the garden open to the students and teachers. Even tough the building divides the site in two it has an open groundfloor in order to create openess towards the backside of the building connecting the town of Giubiasco with the bulding.

The Saalecker Werkstatten is situated in Germany. The site has a difficult past linked to the second world war. The semester consisted out of several exercises which allowed a better understanding of the site. The aim of the exercises is to work with the past and to give a new meaning to the site. The program of the exercise: ‘Addition’ was to create a document center, exhibition spaces, education center, foyer/auditorium and restaurant. The addition functions as a joint in between the existing buildings. The buildings consist out of a bridge in which we find the archive/documentation center and connects the existing building to the tower. The tower households the main entrance, the restaurant and offices on the upper floors. The exhibition space is under the ground and the roof of the exhibition space has a square where you can pass through under the bridge towards the garden.

EVERYDAY ANOTHER SCRIPT
As interior architecture students, we were asked to formulate a new way of living, which is located in The Hague. After a period of researching city life, each student has formulated their own assignment in which the relation between the domestic and the urban environment is questioned. This has led to various new visions on living. The concept focuses on how we define our privacy nowadays. I divided the way we inhabit space according to the rules of dramaturgy subdividing each function to a roleplay. Hacker: Somebody who breaks in the system and reveals the privacy. ‘Revealer’ Traceur: Somebody who crosses through the existing boundary in order to create a dialogue with the environment to create new ways of use. ‘Researcher’ Shill: Somebody who shows a different image to the public of the performances on the stages. ‘Manipulator’

ÖJENDORF NEUE GARDENSTAD
HAMBURG, GERMANY
Proposal for a new gardencity in Öjendorf in Hamburg Germany. The first ambition was to develop a new understanding of the place. A discussion of the surroundings suggested that the Öjendorfer Park not only encompasses the area around the lake, but all functions within the area, which is defined by the same ‘hard’ boundary. This gave rise to the first guiding principle: the garden city should contribute to the diversity of the functions of the park and should become part of it. By choosing the public program, the whole area enjoys a stronger presence in the city. The leitmotif “urban biotope” therefore seems promising due to the shaping compression of living space and nature. The observation area is also understood as part of the park. It is divided into two parts along an east-west axis: the north forms an intact park; the southern one is a garden, a transitional space between the city and the surrounding countryside. A grid organizes the urban structure, which forms a sequence of open spaces. These house all functions according to their size (public, communal, private). As these areas are defined in the same way by the grid, urban and landscape situations are captured in an egalitarian way. Buildings are therefore not understood as separate elements, but as a coherent shape that responds to the landscape. The urban planning principle is generous enough that it allows scaling to 2000 residential units.

LES JUMELLES DE BELLEVUE
MONADNOCK
GENEVE SWITZERLAND
Competition proposal for a new hotel at Le lac de Geneve, The project is called Les Jumelles due to the way the building is split in 2 buildings. The aim is to enhance the backside of the building and enhance the view towards the lake and on the front side in order to accentuate the direction of the street. The proposal will substitute the original hotel function. The Hotel faces the lake with a little port and in the summer it households tourists that visit the lake. I worked on the visualizations and detailed sections
