THESIS : PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Awarded Most Successful Evidence-Based Design Project
A child learning environment that is focused on flexibility, the Ossington Elementary School capitalizes on this throughout the building. A central Student Centre is adaptable to accommodate a variety of programs, including a Tech Hub, an open-program Creative Play Centre, and a Library. The classrooms also offer flexible components that can adapt to a variety of pedagogies. This Elementary School is adaptable to the ever-changing needs of students, teachers, and new learning technologies.

CONCEPT : FLEXIBILITY
Investigation: Funf Hofe, Munich Exploring how the exterior facade affects lighting, views, and the aesthetics of the exterior.
Investigation: Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris Exploring the building’s structure and how it influences interior and exterior circulation and programming

Based on the research I conducted, I discovered that educational spaces must be adaptable to the ever-changing needs of students and educators. From this, I developed the concept of Flexibility. Throughout my experimental investigations, I looked at various elements within architecture and interiors that can be flexible: partitions, openings, program, and circulation. I used a variety of materials that represent each one of these elements, and placed it within a representation of the chosen site. The exploration led to discoveries on how each one of these elements can influence the other, where partitions and openings can influence circulation, program, lighting, and acoustics.

HOSPITALITY : DALISHI RESTAURANT
A steakhouse restaurant in Hong Kong, Dalishi is inspired by the skyline of Hong Kong island, where the restaurant is located. The layers of the three different landscapes Sea in the foreground, City in the centre, Mountains in the background - form the foundation of the design. At night, the three landscapes look like planes that are separate entities, but layered, come together to create a unified sight.

RESIDENTIAL : TIP TOP LOFTS
A two-storey loft in downtown Toronto, this loft is designed for a middle-aged graphic designer. The primary design feature of the space - the railings / partitions - are inspired by typography: it’s use of lines, and the connection those lines make to create symbols.

RETAIL : FENDI BOUTIQUE
Fendi’s bold, eccentric fashion is highlighted in this 3,000 sq.ft. space. Providing a neutral backdrop that enforces the dramatic nature of the brand’s products, the design is inspired by the theatre. Here, the Fendi products are able to perform in a space that does not distract, but enhances the design of the product.
