“Freehand mountain in Chinese painting
5 The geography of PengZhou is highly varied, with mountains, hills and plains occupying 50%, 11% and 39% respectively of the total area. The northern part of Kowloon Mountain is mountainous region whose attitude is most from 2000 to 3000 meters with a few peaking over 4800 meters. The highest is the main peak of TaiZi Cheng with 4812 meters elevation.
Landforms full of sense of rhythm in Sichuan Province
Longmen Mountain is located at the middle part of the mountain chain which is the correlation of Sichuan basin and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The main peak of Taizi Cheng consists of Danjing Mountain, Yinguang channel, Jiufeng mountain and Mazong Ridge with expected area of 203 square kilometers. Pengzhou is known as the fertile land of Sichuan from old past and it is called “the golden city of plenty. Yinguang Ridge is the essence of Longmen Scenic area. The channel is 50 kilometers long with various landscape views such as mountains peaks towering into the sky, deep beautiful canyons and jagged rocks of grotesque shapes everywhere.
I strive to create an atmosphere of nature in the station design based on the charm of Pengzhou Mountain. And with the technique of Xieyi, freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting, I try to build up a strong sense of sequence, rhythm and, as for a highspeed rail station, movement.

Generate the framework basing on characters of fluid and then change the grid's own property in order to express the natural charm of Pengzhou in freehand.
The design of station house and canopy is realized through simulating the natural condition fluid, indicating strong sense of movement. Due to the mutual effect of various force fields, substances with fluid characters flow as the air flows when the high-speed train passes by. The pattern of the curved surface is generated by editing the script, extracting and controlling density and
velocity of fluid at every point in the coordinate. As a result, not only is the morphology of curved surface a result of subjective choice but also comply with the objective law in physical world.

Light and Shadow Pengzhou is located in subtropical humid area of Sichuan Basin. The climate there is mild with abundant rainfall, less light compared with the area with same latitude and long frost-free period. The early spring, cool summer and warm winter are characterized. Most of the time, the canopy is open. The ceil of canopy, the vertical maintenance structure and loadbearing structure all together form a continuous whole and a large amount of glass is adapted to enhance the intake of local precious sunlight.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE TOPOLOGICAL & METRIC FEATURES OF STRUCTURES
A net
Line stretched
The topological characteristics of the net are retained the metric characteristics are lost An open system does not formed closed meshes and therefore does not divide the surface into segments separated from each other. open system, which are also called branching and ramification system, disintegrate onto two parts if a single link is cut. In closed systems the net lines from closed meshes, the system does not disintegrate if one of the links is removed. in nature such systems are often found in formation of crack patterns, plant leaf supply systems,in the boundry lines of close packings such as float bubbles.
Frequently structures show open as well as closed meshes the topological features are not sufficient to reproduce a structure. an accurate description of its form is needed.
23 Urban space is the microcosm of a variety of small-scale cities. We can inadvertently capture the cultural essence and dross, honor and scars, past and future, memory and trend of the city. Although more and more people are yearning for pastoral life, people and city are inseparable due to their inter-reliable relationship. T h e f o r m o f c i t y i s n o t c u r re n t l y emerged. As long as people gathered following with basic life and commercial activities, the original city has quietly formed. The early cities are not planned ahead, family with more people built more houses, people with more money punctuated more land which decided the original city fabrics step by step. It might not be the most reasonable city fabrics, but it does satisfied the nearby residents’ need. However, under the fast-food production model of the metropolis, unfortunately, our city has been one of the by-products with considerable scale. In the non-notorious but fast speed construction process, living space which local residents are familiar with has been swept away, leaving us with nowhere to talk about the memories...
The main roads around the base:G317 High Speed Rail; the fast-speed road around the city which links Chengdu and Dujiangyan; the main high-speed road-Xixin road in suburban Chengdu: the essential production chain of the new district of Chengdu.
The base is located in the area which was relatively constructed earlier in Xipu vpu town is currently surrounded by several universities and high-tech industrial zones. Only the large area where the base is located, does it still remain the original urban layout.
Except the newly-built High Speed R a i l w a y S t a t i o n , t h e Ve h i c l e Administration office which stands at the opposite side of the railway station needs to be taken into consideration in terms of its huge traffic flow.

BIRDS & HUMAN BEINGS Holistic Realm-Chengdu 2011 Biennale Team Member:CHEN Weiyu 2011 Chengdu
44 2010 Shanghai World Expo took “city” as its theme, paying close attention to the harmonious urban construction of the future, and exploring “harmony between people and the natural environment, social harmony, and the harmony of history and future development”. At the end of 2009, Chengdu established as its longrange objective the construction of a “Modern International Garden City”. The core idea of the “Modern International Garden City” is natural beauty, a just society, and an organic integration of urban and rural areas. The idea of Chengdu as a “Modern International Garden City” is as follows: a world-class internationalized city, a large key city in China’s modernizing west, an integration of man and nature, and an integration of rural and urban areas. This proposal envisages the centrality of people in urban space and architectural design, attention to protection of the ecological environment, and the intensive use of resources. The background plan for constructing Chengdu as a “Modern International Garden City” requires an investigation of varying concepts of the garden city and critical experiments. Realizing this goal requires much thought on the part of the city’s management as well as the general population, and it is from architecture that so much of the future construction of Chengdu must draw. Holistic Realm reflects the theme of the “Other” and the “Self”, which represents a traditional dichotomy between opposites, and this architectural exhibition is placed within the context of “garden”, “city”, and “architecture”, in which people connect and interact. The theme of the “Other” and the “Self” alludes to the loss of demarcation between the subjective and objective, as well as the combination of material and spiritual aspects transcending the bifurcation between what exists and what does not. The Theme Architecture Exhibition of 2011 CHENGDU BIENNALE is also highlighting that this is the first architectural exhibition that draws its guiding principles from Chinese poetics, philosophy and aesthetics.

51 The design integrates the art of space and sound by controlling and selecting parameters of acoustic wave to build up physical space. Through the application of “addition” and “subtraction”, the shape of geometric space which formed by acoustic wave is combined with the structure of the art center. As a result, not only form follows its performance function but also a pure aesthetic space is created.

RESEARCH AGENDA
Icon_
Icon is progress Icon is something that has been always in progress. There is no end because it changes while the world is changing.
Icon is something that symbolize the country, the culture, technology
? 'Iconic' is something that usually know, wondered by people and can be realized easily
Icon_ connection to culture and society repetition differentiation relationship by users how does it connect what kind of a program multiplicity correlation systematic logic progress
Everything in the world is changing, why can't buildings change?
There no one plan and no one section of it. There is no one constant view.
Something flesible ,changeable to needs. Not static, not dynamic always.

SITE RESEARCH
Our site, which is located near Tonghui River and in side CBD, is adjacent to plenty of high-rise buildings and surround by some green areas. Moreover, the buildings in this site will serve as a sort of landmark that indicate the portal of CBD, one of the most bustling and prosperous district in Beijing nowadays. In virtue of the fast development of the economy in Beijing, the immigrants make the density of the population in Beijing growing day by day. Considering this demographic problem, we are researching to build a king of flexible building instead of the rigid high-rises with colc concrete, that is, it could grow and change.

SITE RESEARCH
After an on-the-spot investigation, we found a huge conflict of the living environment due to the wealth gap. This point makes us start to think something about the connection, which could connect the people from different classes by building some social places inside the complex. They may be museum, library or some green areas that help to improve the environment and landscape.
This also connect the traditional culture and the modernization nowadays. The high-rises in CBD may be special and advanced in the shape but you still couldn’t recognize that this is Beijing, Hong Kong or Tokyo. We try to use some traditional spatial organization like Hutongs and Siheyuan. The courtyards in this system also help us do more open spaces and social connecting places.
