The staff develop “menu” we have organized for this Innovative Educator Technology Academy is based off the Panera Bread dining option of “Pick 2.” You will have the opportunity to choose two learning strands for the week based on your individual learning needs. Most academies lock you in for an entire week long study, With the “Pick 2” choice option- you will be able to immerse yourself in two different dynamic focused strands while adding variety to your five day training experience. Pick 1 options will run from Monday through Wednesday noon, and Pick 2 options will run Wednesday afternoon through Friday. Like any cafe’ or bistro, the Innovative Educator Technology meets specific needs and niches for many different people. From the nonfat, no foam latte lover to the house coffee junky, we will make sure you and your PD cadre are satisfied by catering the experience to meet the needs of your diverse group. Our content revolves around:

Now, we take the content and put it in a comfortable 21st century teaching and learning environment that resembles all the good things about a chic coffee shop or a Panera Bread bistro: collaboration, individual focused time, movement, energy, and, of course great healthy food. There’s a reason we meet our friends, colleagues and Professional Development (PD) Cadres in coffee shops and bistros. It’s relaxing, and we’re free to talk and actively listen while immersing ourselves in the personalized learning experience.

The Innovative Educator Technology Academy running August 15-19, 2011 will take place at the School District of Onalaska Middle School, 711 Quincy Street, Onalaska, WI 54650.

Each participant will receive an Innovative Educator Emerging Technology Tool Kit filled with gizmos, gadgets and resources to support your teaching and learning success for the week.

“Pick 1” workshops: Monday and Tuesday 8:30am3:30pm and Wednesday 8:30am-11:30pm.

We are also offering cost effective graduate credits. One, two or three graduate credit course options will be made available at the cost of $110 per credit through Viterbo University.

“Pick 2” workshops Wednesday 12:30-3:30pm and Thursday and Friday 8:30am-3:30pm. Each day healthy choices for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks will be included through the Innovative Technology Academy. Schedule on-site dining times at the School District of Onalaska Middle School Café are:

Technology Academy Fees The cost for half a week is $175/participant. A full week is $350/participant. If a PD Cadre of three educators from a district signs up together, the cost per week is $900/team. You may sign up as many teams of three as you like at this reduced price. * There will be a $75 cancellation fee for any cancellations made after August 8, 2011.

“Pick 1” Workshop Options Technology Leadership Camp: Cultivating the New Digital Landscape in Your K- 12 Teaching and Learning Environment Instructors: Dan King and Naomi Harm Max enrollment = 25

We’ve developed a special Technology Leadership Camp just for administrators and school technology leaders. Held onsite at the Onalaska Middle School, the Technology Leadership Camp is a multi-day, hands-on program that will equip you and your school leaders with the skills, resources, and confidence to effectively meet the learning needs and levels of the teachers and students in your district. In this handson training, administrative and technology leaders will explore new trends related to both emerging technologies and 21st century skills as they relate to teaching and learning. In particular, it will focus on these trends from the administrator’s point of view.

21st Century Skills for the 21st Century Educator Instructors: Dan King and Naomi Harm Max enrollment = 25

The purpose of this workshop is to provide ”Just in Time” training through an blended interface for K-12 educators based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should possess. In the process, educators will develop their own skills and discover what students need in order to meet the NETS for Students. 21st century skills and assessment also provide educators the tools and information necessary to make solid decisions about how to best facilitate the educational experience from start to finish. The layout of the interactive course will include “21 essential strategies and intuitive tools to meet the needs of the 21st century educator” while the information will assist in setting learning objectives, selecting appropriate 21st century web 2.0 literacy tools, deciding on curriculum content, and determining strategies for effective learning. The main goal of this “21st Century Skills for the 21st Century Educator” workshop is to establish, facilitate, and maintain an environment that is learner focused. To determine 21st century skills and assessment areas, educators must ask themselves, “What do I want to know about my students that will help me determine what to teach, how to teach, what technology to employ, and where to start the educational experience?” There are many areas, but certain areas are essential when planning Webbased and technology infused learning incorporating computer proficiency skills, learning styles, and a learner’s desired outcomes.

Join Jennifer Malphy as she collaboratively shares strategies and solutions of how to promote research and information fluency skills in library media center/classroom with your students. In addition, participants will discover a variety of engaging and innovative Web 2.0 literacy tools that support the differentiated and individualized communication, organization, and productivity needs of our 21st century digital learners. This hands-on workshop will showcase how to apply a straightforward, decision-making approach for structuring performance-based blended learning solutions. It gives you practical tips, tools, and techniques that will help you exploit the benefits of blended learning through robust content and learning management systems (CMS and LMS) of EDU2.0, Edmodo, Google Sites and Twiducate. The designed blended coursework environment will enhance student involvement and engagement, while meeting the teaching and instructional delivery styles of your 21st century educators.
