Welcome! Much has happened since we joined together at last year’s ZOObilee! Most notably, the Naples Zoo posted another record year. In 2011, more than 326,000 visitors enjoyed a quality zoo experience. The Zoo’s Board of Directors and staff are committed to creating a memorable visit that also inspires our guests to take proactive steps to conserve the planet’s irreplaceable resources. Last year, the Naples Zoo Conservation Fund planted over 50,000 trees in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Other highlights of the year’s projects include helping the lemurs and fosas in Madagascar; tigers in Asia; crocodiles in the Philippines; lions in Africa; and endangered butterflies and Florida panthers in the U.S. A pair of rare striped hyenas joined our collection last March. Naples Zoo is one of the only facilities to exhibit both striped hyenas and their more well-known cousin, the spotted (or laughing) hyena. In June, we added a feeding experience to our giraffe preview exhibit. The chance to hand-feed the world’s tallest land mammals has been one of the most popular interactive experiences we have ever introduced to our guests. In August, we became one of only four zoos in the U.S. where guests can see the ferocious honey badgers. Thanks mainly to a wildly popular YouTube video by Randall, a honey badger subculture has arisen. Randall even filmed our three and they now star in their very own video! And best of all, we just announced the birth of four rare fosa cubs - they’re the cutest babies you’ve never heard of. Thanks to your support the Naples Zoo has experienced amazing growth in the six years we have been a nonprofit institution. Over 2 million dollars in improvements have been added and we are just getting warmed up! This year we break ground on Phase II of Kiwa Ranch. Our critically needed new parking area will also begin construction as part of our partnership with Collier County. Please let me extend my appreciation to each of you for supporting tonight’s ZOObilee 2012 as well as our efforts throughout the year to provide a great zoo experience for our community. Sincerely,
David L. Tetzlaff Executive Director David at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe in 2011 while hosting a Naples Zoo Travel Program Safari
From The Board President It is my pleasure to welcome you to ZOObilee 2012 and thank you for choosing to spend this extraordinary evening with us as we celebrate what has been a year of exciting and unprecedented success. As President of the Naples Zoo Board of Directors, I am pleased and grateful for the community’s high regard, deep fondness and continued support for the Zoo – your Zoo. Each year presents its own unique challenges. In 2012 the Zoo will experience infrastructure changes that will allow us to provide more innovative and creative programs to captivate our visitors. Your support is critical to provide the funding to make these improvements reality as we seek to fulfill our mission and realize our goals. By being here tonight you also help further our educational and conservation efforts regionally, nationally and internationally. Together we can accomplish great things! Thank you for partnering with us. Sincerely, Paula B. Brothers President, Naples Zoo Board of Directors
Rare Births
Four baby fosas are the wonderful result of a long and careful introduction of Naples Zoo’s rare fosas. These carnivores from Madagascar are so unusual they are in their own scientific family.
From The ZOObilee 2012 Gala Co-Chairs Thank you for your support of ZOObilee. By joining us tonight, you are helping to bring new and exciting programs and exhibits to the Zoo that the whole community will enjoy for generations to come. In just over a decade, the Zoo has doubled its attendance; achieved three national accreditations by the AZA which sets the world’s highest standards in wildlife care; opened 6 feature exhibits in 6 years; and expanded its global conservation efforts. And because the Zoo does not receive any tax dollars for operations, that means supporters like you are making it all possible! Yet this growth is just the beginning. With plans already in the works, the next decade promises to be even more exciting than the last. Your help at ZOObilee tonight and in the future plans of the Zoo will change the lives of people and wildlife both here in Naples and around the world. With many thanks, Dr. Susan Liberski and Pam Krol ZOObilee 2012 Co-Chairs

Silent Auction
Bidding opens 5:30 p.m. / Closes 6:45 p.m. 1. Each item for auction has its own bid sheet located on the table nearby. 2. To place a bid, write your name and the dollar amount you wish to bid for the item. 3. Unless otherwise stated at the top of the bid forms there will not be bid minimums. 4. Unless otherwise noted, each bid must be increased by no less than $20.00 increments. Once a bid is made, it cannot be changed or erased. 5. Under no circumstances may an auction bid sheet be removed from the tables. 6. The closing bid circled by the auction officials constitutes the winning bid. 7. In the event of a dispute, the auction referee will render a final decision and shall determine the winning bidder.
Live Auction
Begins after Dinner 1. Will continue without interruption until all items have been auctioned. 2. In order to enter a bid, bidder must raise his/her hand and attract the attention of the auctioneer. This must be repeated each time a bid is initiated or increased. 3. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay his/her bid in full if his/her bid is deemed the highest bid at the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer. 4. The auction will be fast paced so the bids must be made quickly.
Silent and Live Auction Rules 1. Payment by the successful Silent and/or Live Auction bidder may be made immediately after the conclusion of the Live Auction, when all items may be paid for at one time. 2. Payment may be made with cash, personal check, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover credit cards. Checks should be made payable to THE NAPLES ZOO. 3. Payment in full on the evening of the event is mandatory. 4. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds on items by the donors or the Naples Zoo except where specified, unless the donor is unavailable to fulfill obligations as described. Please do not ask donors for exchanges or refunds. 5. Naples Zoo has endeavored to catalog and describe items and/or services correctly, but everything is sold “as is.” Certain auction items and/or services may have restrictive use or other qualifications which may affect value, application, or use thereof to bidder. 6. Many items are non-transferrable and must be used within one year of the auction, unless otherwise specified. Purchases are bound by the precise restrictions specified by the donors. The terms are non-negotiable. Please read the catalog carefully for all specifications and limitations. 7. Naples Zoo makes no expressed or implied warranties or representations of any kind or nature with respect to the property of services, and in no event shall it be responsible for the correctness of the description, genuineness, authenticity, or condition of the property or the services. No statement in the catalog or made at the sale or in the bill of sale or invoice or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty or representation or an assumption of liability. 8. By his/her purchase, the buyer waives any claims for liability against either The Naples Zoo or the donor of the property or services. 9. Neither Naples Zoo nor the donor is responsible for any personal injuries or damages to property that may result from the utilization of property or services sold. 10. Items may be picked up at the claim areas by exhibiting a paid receipt. When an item has not been displayed, the purchaser will receive a certificate or a contract for the promised gift. Items may be removed only by exhibiting a paid receipt at the door at the time of departure or authorized by a committee member. 11. Any auction purchase is tax-deductible only to the extent that the donation exceeds that of the stated value of the item. Any values stated or set regarding items being auctioned are donors’ estimates and are not warranted by the auction committee. 12. Unless otherwise specified, dates and times are to be arranged at the mutual convenience of, by, and between the donor and buyer. To avoid disappointment, please make vacation reservations well in advance. Security and cleaning deposits, when required by the donor, must be paid directly to the donor and are not included in your bid. 13. All auction items must be removed from the premises by 10:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the purchasers own risk. The Naples Zoo cannot assume responsibility for items left after that time. Special arrangements for pickup or delivery of large items must be made at the time of payment. 14. Upon the close of Silent Auction at 6:45 PM and/or on the fall of the hammer at the conclusion of Live Auction, the title to the items and/or service will pass to the highest bidder who thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility thereof. 15.
