NAQI essentials: Scar Treatment
Positive C-Section
- An interview with Hannah Poulton -
My passion has always been to see individuals recover well, not just from the physical effects of an accident, surgery or trauma, but to acknowledge and heal from the emotional aspects too.
That is why I built HLP Therapy. Beautiful clinics, where we use a combination of manual therapy skills, expert scar products, professional training and empathy to treat every individual in a truly holistic way. Ive also developed unique Scar Therapy Training Courses for Health Professionals, C-Section preparation courses for mums and “Positive C-Section Recovery Kits” to enhance scaroutcomes for clients.
WHY C-SECTIONS?
’ve always had an interest and bias towards women’s health and the way scarring impacts the human body. After the birth of my two children, (my second son was born via c-section 5 years ago) and slow recovery with both, I explored further into c-section recovery. It was here my interest in c-section scars first started. I do believe the combination of professional knowledge andpersonal experience really enhances the care and courses I provide.
SPECIALIST POST-NATAL CARE
Having the best care and attention is important at any stage in life, but especially after you’ve given birth. You may feel vulnerable and unsure of how to recover well. The focus is on the baby – but who focuses on yourrecovery?
That is why it is so important to have a comprehensive postnatal assessment and use the best products. I always recommend Naqi products for the accelerated healing of scars. Their Repair Oil and Skin Optimising oil, are the perfect blend of Omega 3 and 6 and Rose hip oil, combined with other nourishing oils. They are easy to apply, absorb quickly into the skin and nourish into the deeper layers of your scar. If you’ve had a c-section and are 6 weeks post partum and your scar is fully closed, no infection present and you’ve been cleared by a medical professional - then why not try these following steps:
THREE SIMPLE STEPS
• 1. Start to engage with your scar. Look at your scar, start to lightlysweep your hands over your scar and tummy. Your tummy and scarmay feel sensitive, so take your time and go at your own pace.
• 2. Use the best scar oil to help scar recovery. I recommendNaqi Skin Optimising Oil from 6 weeks (and sell them as part of myPositive C-Section Recovery Kits). It comes in a handy spray bottle, you can easily reach that c-section scar. You can then use this oil tohelp with scar massage.
• 3. Keep well hydrated and eat “healing foods.” Make sure youare getting enough protein, pulses and fresh fruit and vegetables. This will help improve your overall physical and emotional health.
THE FUTURE:
Women’s Health and the treatment of scars, needs to be improved worldwide: especially post-partum care after a c-section. With the rise in global c-section births, it is vital that we (as health professionals,) are prepared and equipped to effectively treat c-section mothers.
